seeing it a lot recently...

but before, ppl used to flame about ppl using anything but war sub when using ninja, but now i hear a lot about subbing blm for ninja.

ignore my ignorance, but out of curiousity, nin/blm is strictly dd or does the dmg alone make this a good tank, regardless w/o provoke?

My WAR sub is only 11... so I've sorta been nin'ing around with blm sub onry. Yes, it is an excellent DD, think MNK in mage form (Damage over time with spells), with no sitting time. Before staves your averaging bout 120 per spell without any debuffs, around 130 with. Higher with a moldavite earring.

Once I hit 51... I was really rockin it out... we're talking upper 160s per spell with burn and an INT Etude on. That's 960 dmg in 18 seconds. Of course, NIN wont get to SC using this setup, but who needs it? That's more than the dmg of the average WS at that level anyway, and you can keep spamming it nonstop, also enhancing the melee's SC and mages burst damage by weakening the mob to an element of choice, and then follow up with your own burst (220 dmg is my record on a hyoton burst, ice day vs. a crab, used Huton right before bursting, with burn on the mob and INT etude on me.

Seriously though, A Nin/Blm after about level 40 can do in upwards of 10-150 damage every 1.5 seconds. And that number raises to about 250 and as much as 400 every 1.5 seconds with the right equiptment(And Best case scenario). So yes, It can hold hate. Blm adds Magic attack bonuses that make Ninjitsu Devastating. ANd Post level 51, the elemental staves add damage as well.
 
Humm, ok, my bad, maybe people use it in parties as well, never seen one myself. So you got a tank/DD in one player? Or am I misunderstanding here?

Ehh...dunno where you got those kinda numbers. A taru NIN/BLM would probably do maybe a few more points of dmg than mithra, and those numbers are a bit farfetched. 10-150 is more accurate... more like 120 before staves, and 130 with a moldavite. 150 is only possible with a brd and blm... or some luck when trying to stick Burn yourself. With an INT etude I was hitting upper 140s and that was with burn on the mob.

Yeah, after you hit the elemental stave stage you will rock hardcore on mobs that aren't too too hard for you. But 200-400 dmg per ninjutsu? No frickin way. The best example of a nin/blm was in the boyahda tree... fighting the skimmers and crabs... I dont' think he broke 190 dmg, and his gear was absolutely pimp. Dunno if he had the Burn & INT etude thing going on or not though.

Solo'ing T mobs is a great way to level up NIN/BLM though. You kill so freakin fast and effortlessly it's probably better than pt'ing. Especially after 51 when you raise your xp cap, your overall xp gain is almost doubled with no change in mob difficulty (though beetles evasion down sucks >_<)

It was proven that a Nin/BLM can prefectly tank.
Last topic I manage to get a Tarutaru Nin/Blm.
With every INT boost he got through his equipment and also with the respective HQ staffs, each ni ninjitsu did 150-180 damage;
He consistantly cast all the ni spells in a cycle.
Great way of tanking but maybe expensive.

It's so funny how people will so quickly "follow the pack" when if anyone had tried this before they probably would've been flamed to hell for not being cookie cutter.

Still waiting for people to notice that BRD sub can grab hate considerably better than WAR sub (mainly foe requiem+lullaby), plus can give semi-decent buffs to the party/debuffs to the opponent. But I guess that's still in the "omfg u nub" phase.
 
I find this very interesting. Being a Taru, I am unmotivated to level my WAR to sub to my nin, but would be stoked to leverage my already level'd BLM for a subjob. My question is this; What would the minimum level be to start to have this combo (NIN/BLM) be effective in a party environment? What about minumum level for soloing?

I think 40 NIN because thats when you get the elemental: Ni's.
 
did he purposely spell it Ecxel or did he make a mistake LOL.

That would suck, having to look at a screwed up name everyday. :?
 
/BLM kinda sucks till you get lvl 40 and the ni spells, and the dmg isn't really worthy of noting.
 
Just a point of interest, but would this mean nin/rdm would be good as well? at lvl 42, 10 blink shields, and with the hate from their ni elemental spells and a thf or two sata'ing on them, could they be really good tanks? Either way, I think nin/rdm would be cool for lvl 50 cap ballista.
