Next update on EXP

Bleh when is these changes supposed to come into effect? Are they even finalized?

Personally I dont want an easier game... I want a harder game where everyone quits and Im the last person playing all by myself.

The maximum amount of experience that can be earned from a single battle has been increased to 250 for players from level 51-60, and to 300 for players from level 61-75. In accordance with this change, the maximum amount of experience that can be earned during EXP chains has also been increased.

Would somebody please direct me to the bitch fest that occured last september when this change took place?

Do you realize how rare it is to get over 200 exp once you're in the 70's?

Anyhow, a lot of people that say they don't have time to level are happy that they will have an easier time reaching 75. Once you hit 75, what do you plan on doing then? Everything at that level still requires massive amounts of time invested to get anything done.

Take sky, for example, you have to get two pop items off two nm's to pop each god. So there are eight nm's total that all ls are competing for to get god pop items from. These nm's have anywhere from 2 to 6 hour repop times, and 99% of the time you have no idea if another ls just killed the nm before you got there. So what do you do? You camp for several hours until it pops, or you give up and move on to the next nm that you hope will not take several hours to pop.

If you decide to go the hnm route, you get to spend 3 hours staring at the same <pos> in hopes that your ls will get claim over another ls, and then if you do get claim, hope that it even drops something worthwhile.

So if you have no time to even do the basics like level your job, how are you going to be a productive member in an hnm or sky ls that will require you to spend several hours a day on these things?

I have no problem with people reaching 75 faster, but the problems you guys are claiming the exp change will fix will definitely still be there in the already high demand and scarce end game content.

Would somebody please direct me to the bitch fest that occured last september when this change took place? Caus I don't remember anybody saying a God damn thing about it. where were the lvl 75s freaking out then? Why is it such a big deal now? How is cutting the xp per level req so much worse than increasing xp per mob cap? Its still gonna be a pain in the ass to level, limit breaks are still in place, AF armor isn't any easier, missions, quests, gil needed, none of these are any lower for being a lvl 75. Lowering the xp req isn't gonna make people just jump from 50-75 like its nothing, theres still alot in between that is now gonna have more competition.

Grinding out xp isn't what is stopping anybody from leveling, and its damn sure not what slows down the gil sellers. Does anybody think that gil sellers who are often played 24/7, are in anyway affected by xp requirments? These people can play all day doing anything, xping is probably fun for them, and you could double or triple xp req. and that would not be what would slow them down. So stop trying to say that this is gonna make more high level sellers, cause sellers don't care about a few hours +/-,

Because it didn't effect anything, realistically you didn't make more xp you just COULD. How often did you make 200 xp normalyl a fight fast anways? Whoopie do, now when you fight that incredible tough monster that so not worth 200 xp, BAM you get 300 xp! Yay! Who cares that you could ALREADY pass 200 xp with xp chains. No one cared because in all honesty, that update did NOTHING. In this case, it screws over a lot of people.

Now, most of you lower level people flock against us high levels. This is to be expected, you have nothing to lose and life is made easier for you. WHY THE HELL would the poor complain if a new low stated no one was allowed to be rich, and all of the noble's riches went to the poor. Of course they wouldn't complain, and they would strike against the nobles for having being against it. Of course the Nobles would be against it, a lot of them are probably greedy selfish bastards who got their money in an NON honest way. But what about the poeple that spent some 50 god damn years doing honest work, saving maybe in stocks or investing and finally got a decent return 50 years later. Would they be please their long, hard earned money went down the drain to bums to lazy to earn it the same way they did? I know I'd be pissed if I spent my life like the poors, working hard to become the rich. Aka the low levels and high levels. (No offense intended what so ever, even tho it sounds like it. I just thought this was a great example.)

THIS is why the high levels are unhappy mostly. Can you see it now? It not only makes their hard work worthless, it makes it less worthwhile in value in the first place.

Rones, I know a lot of you don't have the time to play much.. but this is how MMORPG are, deal with it. Screwing over people who do is not the correct reply. If you don't have the time, don't play MMORPG which are REKNOWN for be time gulpers, or play a low key MMORPG like WoW. IF you don't want to, then live with it. But for me to have to be all happy about EARNING 30 million dollars, only to be left with 1 million so others can have 1 million dollars, it's not a good feeling. Given, I'm not bad off, at least I have a job that high and for that i am happy, but it is still unjust and unfair. We have every right to be unhappy. I also agree with Liefe, the end game content is swarmed already, HNM camping and gods and Dynmis crowded enough for drops as is, let's just make it worse. 10 Dynamis ls's all fighing over dates to go, 8 HNM ls's per camp at the lest... sure, sounds fun. Less middle game content, oh well. We'll see how things go.

How does it make your work 'worthless?' You got the 'wow' factor of being high level before others. You got to do the endgame content before it gets 'overcrowded' with new 75's. You get to enjoy the perks of being a 'have.' Now Square makes it slightly easier to make it to that level, and all of a sudden the sky is falling!

Nobody is taking anything away from those that have already made it to the top of the mountain. All this does it make the top a more populated club.

And it's not like people have a choice in the matter. If I could flip a switch after the update and take my XP->level up back to the old method, I probably would because I really don't care how quickly I get to 75. I already take long breaks for AF, farming for Cross-Counters/Vermillion Cloak/insert X million item here and having to play that little bit longer wouldn't bother me. But if it takes me less XP than it took you to get to 75, don't blame me. Go petition Square and have them add a R (for "real") flag to go up just like the Mentor flag, so that all of you people who made it to 75 under the old XP curve can turn it on and bask in the glow of getting more XP than the newer, less deserving level 75s that came after you.

Sanjo Renomitsu, you should care.

FFXI is losing players to WOW so incredibly fast and I personally don't want to see my game go down. Server merges etc are fast becoming a reality I really don't want to deal with. Are they making end game content easier? No, they're just making it so people can do it sooner. I really don't care if they make the exp a little less to get your next level if it saves SE some customers and keeps the game running longer.

Please don't pull the "Everyone hates me because I"m high level" routine...it's old and goes both ways. High level's dissrespect low levels just as often and it's really stupid to pull that card.

The games going to change a lot, deal with it. Imagine being a level 70 summoner that got through the game with just carbuncle and spirits and then boom all of a sudden there's 6 other avatars available to people. You'd be pretty pissed off wouldn't you? Well that was a reality for some people.

If you can't deal with change don't play an MMORPG, stick to consoles because those don't change.

All I can say is that I am not upset nor am I pumped about the change. In the grand scheme of things I just look at the fact that I already have months of real time tied up into this game and saving a couple hours of exping makes about this much difference. ---> ||

I think any overflow exp made in the change should result in a more positive outcome for the high levels but maybe my lowbie status keeps me from getting too upset over it. I guess people should ask themselves why they play the game. Did you grind to 75 to be able to say you were better than everyone or because you actually enjoyed playing the game and through your enjoyment you achieved level 75? The things you have done are in no way diminished and the fact remains that you still did them. As long as you derived a sense of achievment isn't that all that should matter?

I better get 2-3 fucking free levels, or I'll be pissed!!! :x :x

Personally I think it is both a blessing and a curse that they are lowering the exp needed to hit 75.

+ It is now less of a grind to get to 75 (even though it was never really that bad before)
+ There is now even more incentive to level another job to 75 after you are done your 1st (I am all about this, mainly for ballista variety)
+ The people who cant play as much as I can may finally be able to see all that this game has to offer, and not be limited by the fact that they dont have the time to get to 75 (This is the biggest positive in my mind, why should only those with an insane amount of time to play be able to enjoy adventuring in all the areas)

- The already overcrowded end content with become even more crowded (Unless Al'teiu has an INSANE amount of stuff to do, this area will be swampped with high level players who are bored out of their minds with the current end game content)

While I only posted 1 negative, this is a huge negative, which alot of people here have already touched on. This would be a great idea, if there was stuff to do once you hit 75. It took me rouchly 9 months to get to 75 the 1st time under the current system and about 3 months to do 90% of the end game content.

Trust me, enjoy your time being low level. It is alot more fun then end game and alot less annoying. (I would take leveling in the Dunes and Qufim then going to do sky NMs anyday of the week)

NO, NO, NO!! This thread is deteriorating into the idiocy that you can easily find on Allakhazam. Stop fighting. None of us here at QCDN have asked for this update. Pretty much everyone that has found this site is a dedicated player. I certainly wanted to reach 75 in the same way that everyone before me has.

sabia and rappa, you two are absolutely right.

alanon:
how can you sit at a computer for like 6hrs straight every night of the week and look me in the eye and say you have a social life.
social life does not mean saying hi to all your ffxi friends.
a social life does not include /em.

to all the high level people who are complaining because of some ridiculous idea that this is going to ruin the game for them because suddenly there will be a diant influx of people:

This game is for more likely to lose players from lack of endgame content than it is level grind. It is now a more aged MMO with a large max level population with not much to do for them. This is simply just not the kind of change the game needs to keep players in. Some shit in this game is broken (ie, needing ~20,000 dynamis money for fully upgraded relic when about 100-200 drop total per clearing max, for example), but the levelling is not. If they want to pump players into the high level like an intimate encounter with "Big Chuck" in a prison shower once their endgame content is more accessible then I think many people would not be as annoyed.

I don't think you're understanding this Cubswoo..
They aren't giving you anything, and we're not mad at you lower levels who are going to get to 75 after. You are gaining no real advantage out of this.

They aren't helping you to the top of the mountain faster. They're loading the top of the mountain up with dynamite and blowing the shit off of it, and now the top is a little lower.

When you said "level 70 with SE handholding" you were dead on, because that is now the limit you're allowed to go to. That old level 75 is gone now. And all of us at it lose exo.

You're looking at it from level, but look at it from effort. Exp = effort. Now it takes less effort to reach 75, so you can do it easier, but it balances out because it's worth less.

To help explain... a while back, the cap was 50, and it took a really really really long time to get to that level. There were no teleports. No warp. No sneak or invisible. I'd say all those level 50s then put as much effort now into what we do for 75. So their level is "lower" than you might be now at 55, but their character justifies more effort.

Now, by raising the cap to 75, they felt the need to make leveling easier as well...hence, all the affort of level 1-50 spent was vanished. Many were upset.

Guage this into perspective.

Do we gain anything from being level 75 as opposed to level 50, if it takes the same effort? Or do we simply get more instant gratifications from fast levels?

All this is doing, in the scheme of balance, is cutting off the tail end of the game. You have to understand this... you can't be given anything, because when something gets easier to do, the value of doing it is less. All this update does is two things.

1: You are no longer allowed to put as much effort into your character's leveling. It gets done sooner.

2. If you already put that effort it, it's gone.

You may think you're getting a bonus out of all of this, but you're not.By lessoning the effort required for level 75 they're simply lessoning the value. They could call it level 10,000, but if it takes less time than it does to hit 75 now, it's worth less.

Additionally...The way I see it, there are 2 things that can happen after this change. Either, the increase the current "final" level cap (and thus introduce more endgame content in that manner), or they just introduce more content at the current cap of 75 (more missions, more HNM, more gods or whatever).

and one more thing:

THis isn't good to me not because of how fast I can hit 75. This is good because now I can hit level 60-70 faster. At this point in time I don't give a damn about end game content. I care about doing missions, and playing with people in my linkshell that i enjoy helping who have helped me. I can't do a lot of missions because I'm not level 60 yet. Shit, i get left out of a LOT of things because of my level, and like i said before, that is hindered because of TIME.

This isn't just about getting your job to 75, all you high level people. This is about getting your job to a level that you can be included with people in doing A WHOLE SHIT LOAD OF OTHER THINGS THERE IS TO DO IN THE GAME BESIDES END GAME STUFF AND GET LEVEL 75.

Get over yourselves, honestly. I understand that you are pissed about the leveling, but games change. I understand that you are worried about the amount of end game things there are to do. But this in time, will change also. Just freaking realize that you are WAY ahead of yourselves in the assumptions you are making about what the consequences of this are going to be.

I...Want..all..my..exp..back..from..all..my..deaths..EVER..for..this..stupid..patch...>.>
then...I'll..except...it...>.>...that'd..give..me..every...merit..I..could..and..cap..my..level

I see your point I just don't believe it's correct Ronith. If you're a casual player like you claim the majority to be, why exactly do you demand level 75? As a casual player why should you make it to the top with all the serious gamers?

Is there something wrong with being level 50? If no one else was level 75 at all, would you feel a great need to reach there? If you were the only person on the server, and there was no one else, would you feel a great motivation to reach level 75? Or is level 50, 75 or 2000 only a measure of greatness in comparison to other players?

I want to be level 75 because I want to see dynamis, I want to wear SMN AF2, I want to behigh level enough to help others and I want to see the areas and experience the storyline. I really don't care about the big number beside my name but I do appreciate what it allows me to do.

I had such a huge smile on my face the other day when I ran through Luffy meadows and didn't get aggro....I know it's stupid but it allows me to explore the area a bit more without getting my ass fed to me on a silver platter. It's stupid but I appreciate it none the less.

Hey Tiya, how would you feel if they decided to make goldsmithing easy as hell to get to your level? ^^

Indifferent... Level 51 {All Right!} lol

But ya, I see where you're coming from, and agree. My first thought when I saw it was, "Awww shit, now I'm gonna be seen as one of 'those 75's that had it easy'" when I get there.

Just to follow up on what Sabia said, I really want 75 for doing things other than the typical HNM / God hunting. Of course I'd love to try some of that out too (and Dynamis, etc), but really the main reason I want 75 with any job is the chance to do some of the quests and missions that I currently can't do.

The sad thing is that I can imagine the scenario where most players sit and zoom through Missions 6-1 thru rank 10 just mashing on the enter key to skip the "annoying" cutscenes as quickly as they can. :( That's such a huge waste of this game in my opinion. I actually like seeing new plotscenes or doing obscure quests to see some little tiny yet interesting plot. I'll happily accept my neat reward from doing a quest, but the plot and the fun of going through the motions is more interesting to me.

Until you've done every single quest and mission in the game, I can't see how anyone could possibly be bored with this game. Hell, give me your lvl 75 character so I can go do some of the quests that you can't be bothered to do!
