Next update on EXP

but if you got that offended by it, than maybe there is a point to be made here, right?

Nope, Im responding specifically to this:

While it might give the people who have no social life much less meaning to their high level, it gives everyone who has full time jobs, kids, and whatever else the chance to achieve end game status more easily.

Shit, they are 75, they have no life! and they must "sit at a computer for like 6hrs straight every night of the week".

Yes, I take offense to it. Claiming you have a point because I take offense to it is like saying the a sexist has a point because women take offense to it.

Anyway, Im done. This isn't the flameboard and that's where this is going.

Yea Lan but you'll always have that. Imagine if they allowed level 75 DRKs to change job into DRGs? =p

Then I'd be pissed. Either way, I would have liked to of gotten 75 like everyone else has. And even more so doing it as a dragoon and proving that we have worth. I guess the only thing I can do is get to 75 before this goes into effect. 64-75 in a month? It's possible lol

The thing I don't get is the fact that nobody's taking anything away from you, you still did it.

dude, that was a jab, a joke, you can't seriously think that i think that people who have a level 75 job automatically have no life. that statement, in context, directed to people who complain about how shitty it is that more n00bs will get to their level, because people who dont have level 75 jobs have to be n00bs.

get it?

/em notices the sand in this thread's vagina.

Get over yourselves, honestly. I understand that you are pissed about the leveling, but games change. I understand that you are worried about the amount of end game things there are to do. But this in time, will change also. Just freaking realize that you are WAY ahead of yourselves in the assumptions you are making about what the consequences of this are going to be.

When you reach the 70's, your perspective of the game changes. Why do you think there is such a difference in opinions between those in their 50's and those in their 70's? It's not an elitest attitude, it's just the result of going through the end game content and knowing what is there and how it works as opposed to being a level 50 and just assuming what the end game is like.

I'm 'allowed' to put as much effort as I want into my character. There's always something else you need to make it better (merits, God gear, AF2, random 20+ million gil items) that all require 'effort' to get.

2. If you already put that effort it, it's gone.

No, it isn't, because you already have the fruits of that effort. When endgame gear becomes three times as expensive because of more demand, your savings is a result of that effort. When you have God Gear X and now it's too camped to acquire, that's a result of the effort. When you can get to the endgame CoP missions and the new 75s are still stuck on 3-5, that's a result of your effort. I don't have much of anything 'done' in this game despite my effort, because my effort has been focused on things other than level grinding. To me, XP is a means to an end.

Regardless of how you look at this, those lost experience points that could have gone to merit points will forever be gone. Nobody was forced to spend gil for top end equipment and a lot of the expensive stuff really isn't required, nor will it make that huge of a difference in performance (ie, leaping boots), but people were forced to get the experience points to get their levels. Money and exp can both be made again, but one is a bit more flexible (money) than the other.

I don't mind the exp nerf at all, as I want to level my thf as fast as possible, as well as a few other jobs. So I'm not bashing people that are lower level now because they'll have an easier time reaching 70, I'm just saying that the end is very different from what many people seem to be expecting it to be, and that SE should take into the consideration all of the excessive exp that was earned on the pre-patch exp system and convert it to merits or levels for everyone, not just the 75's. Note that I don't have a 75 job either.

If this is directed at me, personally as a level 75, I welcome the change. I hope that by having more high level characters that SE will put in even more endgame content. Im an optimist.

You're looking at it from level, but look at it from effort. Exp = effort. Now it takes less effort to reach 75, so you can do it easier, but it balances out because it's worth less.

Gaining experience is effort because you spend time and you spend money. You als get to "play the game" and spend time with friends or get to know new people.

I see your point, Fire, but as someone who did not start until after the PS2 release, and that is limited to leveling once per week, 75 will be just as valuable to me as it is to the next guy if not more, even barring a reduction in overall XP required to get there.

I level other jobs, I do my homework, and I pay my dues. Just because I can't play all day long or as often as some people, and just because I am a victim of this circumstance, doesn't mean 75 is worthless. New 75s will be retards.

We all know it's not 1 experience point or 100,000 that separates us from one another.

The knowledge of this game can be obtained beyond just gaining XP.

Knowledge aside, I'd rather take 100 less knowledgable people that were nice, community oriented players versus 1 that knew about damned everything who acted like a dick.

I see where you are coming from though, but I wouldn't count on SE making 75 a cakewalk either. I think making the next level a marathon of XP gathering does little to keep a user entertained. More gear, more options, more recipes, end game content, new areas and quests, etc. Those are the kind of things people will stick around for...Not larger gaps from level to level.

/shrug

You guys are all crying about nothing. 2-3 expansions down the line getting from 1-75 will be a 10-14 day project for any serious gamer. It happens in all other MMO's as time goes on and this one isn't going to be immune to it either.

MMO games have been, are, and always will be - when it comes right down to it - about the end game, and eventually the devs speed up progression to reach that level. Getting to the highest level of any game is only the beginning and really no big accomplishment, not the huge deal that you are making it out to be.

Had I not taken a 4-5 month backpacking trip I would be level 75 now. Would I be sad about the change? Nope. Just increases the pool of people I have to pick from to take on end game encounters. Happened to me already with expansions in other MMO's, and the story is no different here.

In conclusion: Suck it up and deal with it rookies.

Okay now you're just being retarded. What if they reset everyone's level to level 1? What if they gave everyone who has exactly 38495 xp into level 71 the choice of a new hair colour? What if Tavnazian Tacos came to life and caused everyone who has eaten one to explode and be permanently removed from the game? It doesn't matter cause it isn't going to happen. Use feasible examples or just shut up.

I've got a simple question for though though Sneakypants.

If Squaresoft decided to them add 25 more levels to make 100 the max level, giving people who DID have time to reach it a new higher goal, would you then be entitled to be able to reach it as well, even it it took 500 huors of leveling?

When I originally started, I had assumed that I would in fact not reach level 75, because i rarely reached max level in any online games before. I'd played many... but never gotten addicted enough to max out. I understood as a casual player you don't usually make max. I really don't understand what's wrong with that.

Do you understand the point I'm trying to make... 75 was a goal that.. not everyone was supposed to achieve. It's not about elitism.. it was about a really really big challenge. Are online games not allowed to have big challenged because some people don't have the time to achieve them quickly? Even if I had far less time to play FF, I GUARANTEE you I would have at least 1 job level 75 by now, even with a day a week my BLM would be 75 by now because i've been here from the start. Who's to say people who come in a year later with a day a week should be pushed forward to the end? Is there no right for people to have a game that 1 day a week doesn't = max level in a few months?

When I was 16 i bought my own T.V., it is a 25" phillips-magnavox, and cost me around $250. Today, I'm 23 and T.V.s have much improved, i can get a better, bigger one for about the same price. Or, alternatively, i can buy the same T.V. for quite abit less money.

Clearly the television makers of the world have fucked me.

Sure I have gotten the full use of my television and never really had a problem with it, but the fact that others get the same thing for less at a later date clearly means that my television and the use i've gotten from it has no value. I am outraged, and demand that ever time television makers lower their prices, they send me a check in the mail for the difference.

Sometimes in life you pay alittle more to get things sooner, and in exchage for that higher cost you get to enjoy privalege that others do not. Sometimes in life waiting pays off, and by denying your self something for a time you can get it for less. This is the way the world works, and just because you didn't know it was gonna happen here, doesn't give you the right to bitch about it.

Nobody is getting screwed by this. Some people have the misfortune of being the last to level before the change, that sucks, better luck next job. Theres not much more to say on the matter.

It was not a stupid example, it's not my problen you don't understand the parrallel I was making. You were all saying, "You know you made that exp, what does it matter if it's gone now?"

Well Lanion knows he got DRG up to level 64, what does it matter if it could have been done easier with another job just the same? Just because my point doesn't suit your needs doesn't make it less valid.

The problem with all this is... why should everyone be able to get to 75? If you only can level up once a week, it should take you a long long time to get there. If they made level 100, should it be easy to get there too? Yes there's lots of end game stuff, but it's supposed to be a reward for lots of hard work.

And I just have this question to ask... if they had changed the system so that it makes it easier to get to whatever level YOU are at, and then all the future levels are just as hard, how would you feel about the change? If you were for example level 50 and they decided that level 1-50 is too hard and it turns away new players... so they make that take half as much exp, but 50-75 is the same, how would you feel?

If level 75 is about accomplishment, by making it easier, they don't give you guys a thing. All they do is take away from the people already there or on their way.

hes right on the money, and explained it many ways now.

anyways, if you are a high level, you understand how this change sucks.

if you are a lower level, you dont understand how it feels for SE to do this.
i am in the same boat as firestreak, 3 lvl50 jobs im leveling currently.

note: there are a few exceptions to the above, but they are true generalizations from 9 pages.

maybe this will help the analogy.... lets say you clothcraft. lets say you are level 80. so it took you 80 full points of skilling up to get there and lots and lots of money....

so lets say.. SE says no more .1 skillups, all .1 skillups will be replaced by .2.. so now, you get leveled alot quicker for alot cheaper if ya remember all of your .1's, going as .2's instead.

how would you feel?

Do you even know what is in Al'Taeiu/Lumoria?

1) Ul/Om'Phuabo - some shitty shark that aggros from below that exist just to piss you off while running around.
2) Ul/Om'Hpmede exist to piss you off while fighting since they aggro but don't attack and become automatic next battle targets for people to fuck up and hit accidently (esp. great for summoners running around with avatars.)
3)Om/Ul'Aern - basically these exist for you to not fight because they link, have horribly annoying ws, can go super-saiyajin fuck you up mode at will, and have the chance to reraise and come back full HP& aggro.
3)ShitSquid - who cares. They aren't worth killing except for the belt/neck quest and come in packs of 3 (pets don't drop anything).
4) Ul/Om'Yuvora - these are like the phuabo, except that they hit for 300+, area charm, area strip armor and weapons, and have regen that would rival Jesus's ability to recover himself. You would never want to kill these for any normal reason.

OH, and you can tour the first 20 feet of the grand palace. AWESOME!
I realize more is coming with the patch, but I still doubt it will be anything really significant content wise outside of missions, and that still doen't fix the problem of shitty priorities on what to add content first (endgame content before levelling ease).

Very late response. My teacher kicked me off the net XD

Yeah, they will be adding more. But Im under the impression instead of missions it will be more stuff like Gods in sky. As far as I know CoP missions ended in the last patch(I could be wrong.) But I am pretty sure SE is intended to make this Sky 2...rather Sea as people call it now O.o

I like how you described the mobs btw

I still leveling Dragoon to 75 after this change will be harder than leveling a mage job to 75 before the change lol

Noxxx you have the only strong point against me, but I don't think it fairly applies to a controlled environment like FF. And it is very true that this is common in late game MMORPGs. I don't know why. It's the reason I left Asheron's Call. Because they changed it a lot to make it stupid easy. This is a bad direction for a game to go in. Very bad.... heed my warning.

{World} {peace} {Can I have it?}

I'm sure this won't have a major impact on players like in the past updates SQE have done. I mean people have all argued in the about the Mini-tuning fork update, the auction fee updates, whatever. SQE does certain things for a reason. Strategy is still required to attain whatever you get like for example the Mini-tuning fork or the exp over 200 +more on chains. I'm more than excited about this update than anything...afterall people are judge by their abilities to play their jobs in the game and not how much time they've spent. More of the quality over quantity type thing. I'm sure many of you guys go exping and try to go with a player1 that has more of a good rep rather than player2 with a bad rep and have played more X amount of hours in the game than player 1. That's just my view on this...

People who are currently doing God's, Dynamis, whatever are worried about the new flood of players hitting 70+. Sounds to me like you're crying because the place is packed already. It's like one of those nights where you try to lvl and no matter what zone you go to it's packed. Hell if anything this will probably force SQE to come up with more ideas for more "end-game" content.

What I like to see SQE do is hire a linguistic person who specializes in the japanese and english langauge as well as knowledge in both cultures. The auto-translate function is really poor...
