i'm just gonna gloss over the offtopic shit.

I lead parties, lots of them. I've led them since launch back in VD when the first NA were getting subjobs.

Under normal curcumstances if I see someone DC and they don't have a history of doing so (i've partied with people guarenteed to DC and walk away, and anticipate it when it happens.) I give them the duration of one exp chain to get back. If it isnt the white mage/tank you can get away with 5 in almost all cases. Thats roughly 8-15 minutes.

Under abnormal circumstances if I see someone DC, (Mass server outage like this case) I give them quite a bit more time. I'll be honest, the time I give may have something to do with how easy they are to replace (thf will replace easily, rdm will not.) I will start looking for a replace at the same time however it is inevitable that the rdm can take longer to show up and still get back in.

However if the original party member returns before the new person has arrived I will take them back first. I may offer compensation to the replace, and a sincere apology but i can honestly say it is rare that i would do otherwise (examples, in a pt with no refresh a brd pops on radar while the drg was gone ten minutes. I would tell the drg sorry for the sake of the pt. It is rare that i would leave jeuno with that pt but sometimes it happens.)

If the replacement has gotten there, the original member is SoL.

anyways, he shoulda told the replace sorry and took you back. Its just a very awkward situation as a pt leader to have 2 people and one slot. If he knew the warrior or the warrior was JP, he may have given them priority over you Kat. (Harr harr at the JP comment but most NA would give them preference because telling you sorry was easier then explaining the situation to him.)

I think everyone should play party leader at some point. The unofficial 'job' has a lot of responsibility behind it and can make or break a party. People get mad at you for things outside of your control a lot too.

Lame... it's just another thread where the Attention Whore has to get his 200 cents in on something that can be copied and pasted from somewhere else. I'm glad he's able to make make a permanent enemy out of another of the nicest people on the server. Takes good skill to do that.

That party leader was just impatient and I would consider it rude. The levelling whores that don't care about anyone probably don't as they're the ones that think...

The parties I've been in have waited 20 minutes for people just from disconnects. If it was a server crash, I'm pretty sure we'd wait just as long. These are parties where I'm not even the leader. Even if you were replaced it's a simple "I'm sorry, our member came back due to the server crash. I'll give you 3k for your troubles" or whatever amount.

Just a word of advice...if you DO find some Caitsith forum to post on...don't whore out purple "Read my posts!!" each time someone disagrees with you. It'll probably get a much colder response when you do it as the "new guy" of the forum. The easiest way to make friends is to show that you're mortal, just like the rest of us, and that you make mistakes and can be wrong. You're not some flawless god of logic that knows every single fact and fiction about the game. Additionally, not many others are gonna be stupid enough to believe you when you retort with "that's what I said" and "I said that! Read my posts!!"..hell, if anything that'll piss people off that you take them for that big of a moron.

Kat - Regarding him getting the Bard but not you...I'm totally confused as to why he did that (other than the fact that Bards are tougher to replace, or the possibility that he got a WAR/THF instead or is just stupid)...but best you can do is just shrug and move on =/ at least you were still in a convenient place like La Theine and not stranded in Valley of Sorrows..

Whether we have agreed or disagreed in the past, you are one of the people on this board who I totally respect. You're old school, even moreso than myself, so when you write something, I at least "listen". I'm very happy/relieved, for lack of better words to see we agree on this subject.

For Palum: <3 you also. You're one of my favorite people in FFXI^^. I think you know if you ever need me and I'm not already doin' something else, I'm there for you. As far as your response goes, that's also exactly how I felt. He didn't give two shits about it bein' a server crash. I guess how I felt was he didn't care what the situation was, he wanted his xp, and the people in the party were just there to benefit him, and him alone. He didn't look at the gear or how someone played (he didn't even get the chance), I was still dc'd and we all know warrior's are a dime a dozen. I take great pride in wearing the best gear I possibly can even when leveling a subjob. I especially take great pride in wearing the best gear I possibly can when leveling my main jobs to make me better at the job I'm performing. I've gone to great lengths to not only be a nice person, but to be a better than average player. I know I'm not perfect. Hell I mismacro all the time, but I do care about the people I'm with. Anywayyy ...

For Ish: <3 you Ish big time^^. As far as the sub goes for warrior, I have all my subs leveled except for thf which is lvl 32. I'm still okay to use it without it bein' gimpled, until my warrior is lvl 64. In my /search comment I always put that I can go as ... SJ: Nin, Mnk, Thf, Sam ... Axe / Great Axe O (using that control thingy). I also always ask the party leader what job he'd prefer on in case they didn't see my /search comment.

I use 2 Darksteel Axes +1 or Leucos(sp?) +1 GA, Royal Chainmail body and legs, my AF boots, Spike necklace, Spike earrings, Enc. Bracelets and/or AF gloves, Valkries Mask and/or Fighter's Mask, a life belt, 1 woodsman ring and 1 snipers ring (thanks to Skaw and Baja for the bracelets and snipers). I wear Jaguar Mantle, which I quested, until I can put on my Amemets +1 which I already have, that Unphazed made for me (<3 Un forever^^). I have my Axe and GA capped as much as possible. My GA is just a tad low right now and I do admit I need to work on it. I know I'm only goin' to be able to take to warrior to lvl 60 before I'll have to stop leveling and farm my ass off for the next I don't know how many months to afford a hauby.

I am NOT saying that I'm a better player than anyone else. But I do take pride in the fact I'm a better than average player. NOT that I can play better, but because I care. I won't level her without the proper gear and proper subs. Oh yah, I also unlocked drk on Sunday so I can level that sub to go with war also.

Anyway, today is a new day. Time to move on. No worries^^.

Vlondoe from I saw, you're a pretty decent thf, just a tad too impatient. Please don't take this negatively, but I feel as you "grow" you'll learn to not pull too fast, and learn to watch for mp on the whm's a bit better. I had just had enough death for 1 day, and honestly just needed to leave before you and I had words. Hopefully we can try again someday under better circumstances^^.

Passions, you did a fine job. It was party my fault not realizing til we were in the Dunes that you were only level 55. For some reason I thought you were lvl 56. No worries, I'll definitely party with you again^^.

To reiterate my point in all this yet again. It's NOT that he replaced me, it's the fact that I was still back before the replacement got there. Had it been my cable goin' out or something, I'd totally understand it. BUT it was a server crash. I was still there before the replacement.

My point in all this, is, I would've told the replacement, "I'm sorry", NOT me, the original member. Now, had all members been back and or replaced, THEN I would've told me, "I'm sorry". BUT they were not. That is the point of this whole flame. Imho, I feel he should've told the warrior coming to replace me not to come.

This is what sometimes happens when you accept invites from people you do not know.

Although I will make this point yeah what happened sucked, but is it really worth getting mad over a video game and because people do not hold themselves to the same "rules" you do. Sorry but I just think this flame is a little weak, yeah what happened sucked, but exspecting people to conform to the same standards you hold yourself to isn't going to happen. So you didn't get any Xp and you had your time wasted, which is exactly what would have happened to your replacement had they told them to go pound sand, like you wanted. It just seems your upset because something happened, and things didn't go the way you wanted it to, but this is my opinion.

Lastly with rude people gaining higher and higher levels and the "noob factor" being ever more presant I honestly do not see how you could be surprised about this when partying with people you do not know.

Sorry this happened but it doesn't seem worth getting mad over in my opinion. Maybe because I have had this same thing happen to me more than once.
