In terms of which piece gets you more bang for you buck, Byrnie VS Haub.

In my mind Haub wins out with the fact most good nin WS are Str/Dex mods and the whole Acc+. Huab of course with its SEXY -20 evasion limits it to WS piece only in XP. In my mind those are major the pro's/cons of the haub.

Byrnie is nice because it has +3 str tho -3dex and -3 agi and no direct ACC bonus. BUT +20 attack and no direct -Evas. Which in my mind makes it more viable for longer term use when fighting XP class monsters. bear in mind I am only currently 60 nin and mostly stick to my SH and AF.

Any input would be welcome, also I apologize for the poorly typed question...I'm xping atm lol

According to Decidence's info last I heard about it(a LONG time ago, so who knows now) the order went NQ Byrnie < NQ Hauby < HQ Hauby < HQ Byrnie for weapon skills.

After 60, you're not going to dodge anyways(I rarely dodged with +24 skill and +20 evasion), so screw evasion and go +damage/haste to hold hate and keep your shadows up. AF isn't worth using for exp at your level, you'll miss the accuracy/attack a lot more than dual wield will really help.

So the NQ byrnie would beat out the NQ Haub on WS? wow. That totally rocked my night.
Where are you getting that? The "<" symbol means less than, hence why the HQ's after the NQ's(unless you think HQ is below NQ somehow). I'll try it again.

The order, from top to bottom with top being the best is:

HQ Byrnie
HQ Hauby
NQ Hauby
NQ Byrnie

no the symbols point the other way

edit: baj said it

Hauby, no question. Wish people would stop spreading that damn decidence parse as the word of god.

You're acting like it's wrong, but you're agreeing with it; yeah that makes sense.

Also, if it's as wrong as you seem to think, feel free to publish your own parse results sometime so there's something to compare too. You look rather foolish saying someone's extensive testing is wrong when you don't have anything to back it up. You'll also note that I did not act like it was "the word of god," but only that it was where I had seen the comparison(and even that it was a long time ago and the results could have changed since then) and those were the results.

You're right, im wrong. The universally accepted nin ws body piece is Byrnie+1. Forget that deci himself said it was outdated and had since changed, or that Byrnie prices, NQ and HQ have fallen through the floor because its an extremely situational piece thats only purpose on a nin would be for EP-EM mobs, if that. Or just go ahead and check any ninja worth a damn on every single server and see what they use.

-DEX and no +acc is so hot for Blade: Jin.

Seriously, save your money and get a Hauby+1.

I have both pieces of gear use the byrnie a lot on my DRK as a solo piece. Was trying to decide if it would find any use on my nin. I didn't figure it would and agree its situational only for weaker end mobs.

And for the third time since you seem to have missed it both other times. I already said that I hadn't looked at anything in a long time and that it had likely changed by now. Or you can keep going ahead like you're saying something original, whichever.

For melee, Relic body or Shura Togi would be stronger than any quality hauby/byrnie; so when you're looking for a pure weapon skill piece, that "situational piece" applies to both armors.

Umm, since when?

Hauby+1 = 15 total acc and 15 total attack
Shura = 10 total acc and 20 attack
af2 = 12 total acc and 16 attack

Hauby+1 is a trade off of 5 less attack for 5 more acc over shura, and AF2 is a trade off of 1 less attack for 3 more acc I'll take that 3:1 ratio. Not to mention the added crit from the 6 DEX and raising the dmg curve with the 6 STR (while both are minimal, every bit counts).

If you are in the business of meleeing in 5 attack over 5 acc, might I also suggest http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Assailant's_Ring instead of snipers.

I'll take Hauby+1. Any other secondhand information you want to post in a NIN advice thread?

In any situation where Byrnie wins over Haub, AF(+1) chainmail beats them both. If you don't need the accuracy boost, the 7-9% more swings will do more than the ~5% attack. Byrnie is useless to ninja, even the +1. AF, haub, SH (for evasion build), arhat's (tanking), and on the rare occasion osode (for the INT/MND reducing magic damage) makes for the best piece for every situation.

You really suck if you need that 5 accuracy at 75, especially on top of all of the other gear that gives it and when you're eating sushi. Hauby effortlessly beats out Shura/Koga for weapon skills, but for melee I'd go for Shura/koga easily. The other benefits of shura/koga are they don't kill your evasion rate; while that's not very significant by the point you can wear them, you're still not hurting your chances any more than you have to.

Hell, even taking "your advice" and looking at other ninja's, they're all wearing shura or koga if they have it, hauby if they don't. So you're wrong either way.

I hate my accuracy at 75. I think I was used to awesome accuracy. I keep my Snipers on for TP because if I take them off I get worried about my accuracy (maybe i'm just being stupid). I'm hoping once i've finished Katana merits (3/8) I can take switch them out for dual flame rings and not feel like i'm missing too much. I use AF for TP and Hauby for WS.

I'm not so sure about the af2 body (very comparable to shura togi) but I do know that hauby+1 does not have +15 att/acc your to go go'od on your ebody zoo. Hauby +1 is 12acc/att 6 str dex.

I personally wear shura and turbon on tp build and pointy hat/hauby for ws. The -evasion no matter how you look at it hurts the "average" ninja to much. 4 evasion merrits and a decent haste build you get away with it easier.

On low evasion mobs AF(tp)---> Hauby +1 WS on high evasion mobs Hauby+1 full time.

Really suck? Nin has A- base skill and no +acc traits or abilities. We need all the acc we can get without sacrificing haste too much. Who the hell chooses less attack over more acc for meleeing?

The trade off on AF2 vs. Hauby+1 is 1 less attack for 3 more acc, are you honestly going to tell me that you take 1 attack over 3 more acc?

The difference between Shura and Hauby+1 is 5 more attack on shura for 5 more acc. Maybe im missing somthing, but how many people melee in a +5 attack ring over a +5 acc ring? Same concept applies. Hauby+1 is the superior armor in every way.

And you af2 and shura would be stronger over any NQ or HQ hauby/byrnie, since when did evasion factor into the strength of an armor?

But what the hell do I know, I "really suck," since I would melee in 3 acc over 1 more attack, or 5 acc over 5 more attack. Assailants Ring anyone?
