Never done nin fight, so cant help much sorry

But I have a question of my own about the fight...Does it count as a win if you defeat Maat with mijin gakure? :P

when you use mijin gakure in anything... You don't gain any EXP from it even if the monster dies. so I don't believe its possible to win the maat fight with it

The Ninja maat fight is pretty basic. My static when leveling NIN was thoroughly surprised when I just randomly attempted the fight and won.

I'm not going to say it's without its challenges though.

First off, be sure you do the usual, sleep for TP (Opo-Opo Necklace + Sleeping potions, 100% TP is fine) and buy a TP wing. If you are in need of one, Arctyrael can synthesize one for you, however not for free.

In any case, AFTER you debuff Maat (please remove his shadows before attempting this, he will most likely put up Utsusemi: Ni as you enter the ring) use Blade:Jin and close it with Blade:Jin. This will remove a significant amount of HP. Stress evasion, this is about the only time I will tell a Ninja to stress evasion, because at level 70, subjobless, and without much haste gear support it can be difficult if he keeps taking your shadows. Ninja Maat will throw at you, he will use your Elemental Nukes, and worst of all, he hits like a goddamn mack truck. I got hit one time in my fight with him, for 227 damage. He will use Howling Fist. He may or may not use Asuran Fists. He -will- use Mijin. And it -will- hurt. The key thing, is to keep him completely enfeebled, and to not get hit. Bring a small supply of Hi-Potions, and also bring a Pamama Au Lait or two, depending on how fast you go. There are two winning conditions to the Ninja Maat. You either:
A. Evade X number of times (this includes Utsusemi, I don't want to lie to you on the number, since I honestly don't remember, but this is why I stress evasion)
B. Remove 100% of his HP.

I won when he was at 15% health, from evading enough hits. His Mijin hit me for around 760. It almost sucked.

But yeah, compared to a couple other jobs, this isn't really too bad. Enjoy it, because it is pretty fun.

Could be true, however if you kill a monster with MG it drops items I think.
Hmmhmm, interesting.

In my experienced he was cake. I had my testimony and I had hit 66 and capped all of my combat skills. So I said why not.

Bought 2 Hi-Potions and an Icarus Wing. And went for it. Little did I know it was going to be easy as hell.

I immediately engaged and used two Ni spells in succession from a distance. This wiped 2 of his shadows at the start. He started casting something and then tried to close the gap. When he did so my katanas removed the last two shadows. Immediately DEBUFF. Those Ninja debuffs are very important. They completely make him the truly flaccid old man he is. With slow blind and para. It was melee till he's dead.

I even had the misfortune of not changing my macros from the previous exp party where I was opening Blade Chi for a distortion. So when it came time that I had 100TP and I hit my macro. I hit him with Blade Chi. Yeah, kinda weak. Well I immediately hit my TP Wing macro to use it. I used it. And I hit my macro again. ANOTHER Blade Chi. I hadn't realized what I had done until after I did it. At this point he Mijin Gakure'd and hit me for 6xx. Leaving me at about 360 HP. I even forgot to use Hi-Potions as I was too excited I had almost killed him.

Wasn't hard from there on out. I missed the record by 7 seconds. At level 66. Using two idiotic weaponskills in a row. Felt good to beat him though.

If you can solo a high level DC NIN mob somewhere in Oz, or whereever. Then you can easily beat Maat.

What's the best level to fight him at? I want to fight him for fun on my ninja. Should I wait till I'm 75 and blinged out and tear him a new one?
I'd probably go before he gets access to Asuran Fists (68 I think), just to remove that possibility. Is the BC uncapped? I've never thought of going at 75.

Ninja Maat has to be on of the easiest in the game. I went in with potions and an Ich Wing thinking I would use all of those meds. Never even touched them. I think there is a little bit of luck involved regarding how much his 2hr does to you. Other than that it is pretty much straight foward.

Sleep pots till 100% TP. Go in and remove all of his shadows then use your debuffs.(which all stuck for me at lvl 69) Then proceed to melee him down till he quits. I think I used two WS the whole time.

You can go back in it after killed him once with a job but if you lose you lose 10% exp needed for that lv like a normal death

you can 2hr as a nin on it and live it gives you 3mins to get back on your feet before you lose. I.E need a reraise earring

its not 10% HP he quits its 5% now i got him down to 7% HP on my war and he did not give up got a screen shot some where can pull it out if needs be.

70 is when he gets A.Fists, so if you want to avoid it, lvl 69

Maat is lvl 70 even if you enter at lvl 66. I had the misfortune of being hit with Asuran fist at 66,67,68, and 69 Blm.
