As for the people who say it's selfish...in a way it is, but in a way, alot of stuff in the game is selfish - casting lots, selling something you don't need for money rather than giving it away, wanting items/money to help with coffers/keys/quests, or simply being the one to be Hasted first in battle. Some of that is less selfish than not giving warps/teleports/PLs, some moreso, but in that sense it's our choice to go about it.
What if someone you hate is asking for a warp II while yyou're in a good exp party? In that case, rather than call it selfish from saying no, you'd say you won't because you hate the person, but in the end wouldn't that just be the same selfish act in the end? It's our choice to help people when we want, free or not (personally, I haven't charged for raises/teleports in months) - if we don't think it's worth our time or we think they needto be better prepared, we're allowed to apply it to the matter.
Yeah I have had ass hats train on me and my party because I wouldn't D2 them, but Elemental Seal + Sleepga 2 into Escape fixes that. Also Props to you for not chraging for magic!!! when I'm bored and invites are slow I often go to the yhatoar jungle and wait and pass out free warps. It's just my small effort to help clean up vanadiel, mages shouldn't chrage for magic ^^Mishaela said:

I've also had mobs trained on my party for not giving a D2...I made sure to thank him for the xp though 8)

One guy in Kuftal Tunnel asked...I told him that as he could see we were on a very quick pace and I didn't want to interrupt the flow of the party. He said he understood and that if we broke for any reason he would appreciate it. We took a <bio> break about 10-15 minutes later and I gladly gave him the warp.

Im so sick of this help me and help me NOW attitude! I help all the time. I LOVE to help people! But I also have people who get mad at me because I dont "snap to attention" and rush to their aid when it's 'convenient' for them! There's helping people, and then there's playing the firggin game.
My PLD always had a warp scroll on him. It was really simple. You keep it on you at all times. When there's a WHM or a BLM in your PT., you take a tele altep and run to rabao, switch to another job to warp back. or they simply D2 you. For those rare PTs without either, use a damn warp scroll, then replace it instantly. Just always have it on you. There's no excuse for being stuck cause if you were DCed from a PT or something and you're stuck out there, you shoulda still have the warp scroll spare. I had to use.. maybe, 5? 4000 CP throughout the course of a level 73 job, big friggin deal.
Also, if you're not too lazy you can through the course of a few months do all the quest outpost supply deliveries. 95% of the time you'll be by an outpost that the beastmen don't control.
When I leveled BLM this was only very rarely a problem. It become more of an annoyance later on when the BLM in our PT announed our chain was finished cause he or she had to d2 someone and I instructed them to stop taking it up the butt.

true, but however by not feeding the demand of a greedy player it stems the behavior and if the GM should ever choose to get off his ass and do something about training maybe that will discourage them moreMishaela said:

Scenario 1.
1) I say no to them myself and look like a exp greedy whore.
2) I say yes and I still have to tell the party I'm breaking their chain and their time to do the warp. Most likely they'll assume its for the money too if its a pickup party.
I do get that nice warm feeling from helping people out. But that's usually ME helping out. Making my party take time out of exping which would be not just five minutes of my time, it's five minutes of their time...( so collectively, you're wasting 30 minutes if you want to count all the wasted time, ), is something THEY have to decide on...not just me. So I think I will also recommend people to do that too.... get the askers to come to your exp spot and ask the whole party.

There are a variety of reasons for this, a big one is ppl with retardedly bad gear. Another is that every 5 minutes some ones mom/wife/sibling is making them go AFK or someone needs to now go do AF with no friecken warning, someone is bugging me for a teleport in the middle of crawlers, some jackass made a train a mile long, etc etc. Having to give D2s to people who are to LAZY to buy warp scrolls or purchase a warp staff or do oe of the numereuse holiday events for a warp item gets on my nerves as one of the many things that fucks up a party. If they where the calliber of player to normaly have said items then they would not mind waiting or they would understand that this party was simply to busy. Working for another without compensation is "Charity" for some. I call it a form of Slavery. We do the work, we get our mage job up spending many hours doing it, spending the rediculuse sums of gil on our spells (Check the price of Raise III some time, or better yet Nobles Tunic). So now you come and waltz along and DEMAND that we IMEDIATLY drop what we are doing to serve you. This is my time, if you want to wait for when it is convenient to us I will be more then happy to help. If I hear, your a white mage its your job to give me a teleport/raise, I swear to god I will fucken kill said person. I don't mind helping my friends, don't get me wrong, I like to think I am a very nice guy but its a give and take sorta thing, if all you want is to take from me with no thought of reperation (500 gil is jack shit at my lvl, barely pays for a chocobo) then don't expect to give you jack. But hey its for the "Greater Good" right? Screw that each person makes their own path in this world, they need to take responsibility for their own lives and stop draging others under.
Especialy with this MPKing shit. THAT is what is pissing me off about the situation. Not people asking for D2s, but people not taking no for an answer and trying to violintly force the subject upon you.
Silent oil, prism powder, scroll of instant warp are actually common items that those who cannot use such skill should carry all times. Call it etiquete. Blame no one but yourself for not having those ready when you need it.
