No leaks yet on new jobs...

You guys all missed one - Oracle from FFT.

Yin Yang magic...that could be an interesting twist.

I'd like to see Engineer as a new job, I've been thinking about it for a while now, and it occurred to me a long time ago that the expedition in which Zeid disappeared, Raogrimm became the Shadowlord, etc.. Cid was with them, but he surely wasn't some random dude that didn't participate in battles. He's an Engineer, and nothing else. I honestly haven't the slightest clue what the Engineer job would entail - maybe use two-handed Mace/Hammer weapons like Cid from FFIV? maybe use heavier gun-class weaponry than RNG (but that would take away half of RNG's purpose - unless Engineer didn't have access to the ranged WS)? maybe something with invented consumable items acting as nukes (think like NIN but more nuke-centric)? maybe even a combination of these - give it an A- rating in a new class of weapons, 2H mace/hammer/club (and give WHM a native skill, with the ability to equip, at the very least, Hammers), give it a B or B+ in Marksmanship (1-2 ratings lower than RNG) with no access to Ranged WS, and some kind of funny invention stuff.. I dunno.

Could be fun.

What the game needs is a frontlines support job.

Thats what I see Blue Mage being. Look at what they show them showing off. Spider Web(Badass motha' slow) and, possibly the disease causing Breath attack raptors use. Do you know how helpful Disease would be against mobs with immense regeneration? If Square's smart, they will not use MP. They will use TP, so people won't force them to sit back. BLU/SAM would be an awesome combo. Not to mention, Scimitars are pretty hard hitting for Swords. There just needs to be more available, which I'm sure will happen.

SE already stated in an interview that Blue Mage will use MP.

Lame.
Especially considering that all the special attacks monsters employ are tp attacks.

I for one hope you're right, Skaw.
I agree here. I think BLU would be a lot of fun if it was a meleeing support job. I'm really looking forward to trying the job out one day. I sure damn hope they change it from MP to TP.

I also agree that FFXI needs more tanks. Originally, SAM was supposed to be a tank, and there's the odd person who still uses it to tank, and they actually do a decent job with the right armor. However, I wish they'd put in a Chemist job or something similar, who could main heal as good as WHM.

By the way, they already have an Oracle from FF-T technically... Except in here, they call it Red Mage. However, a job like Calculator would be a lot of fun. It would always keep you on your toes, and it'd be good for those who were good at math and stuff.

I really don't see how Pirate would be any good. What would it be? A ripoff THF with a sword or something? Seriously. And Geomancer- I can't see that being much different than BLM.

Hmm... Ever think of something like a Chocobo Knight or something? I heard someone mention it once. What do you guys think? I visualize a guy riding a chocobo, using a Lance, wearing silver or gold armor. Hmm... What's your opinions on this?

A pirate is nothing more than a thief with skills specialized for operating at sea. A pirate operating primarily on land is like a fish out of water, pardon the pun. If you want to be a "pirate", go to your moghouse, change your job to thief/ninja, and spend the majority of your time on the Mhuara-Selbina ferry. Equip a pistol in your ranged, a scimitar in your main hand and a dagger in your offhand. You're a pirate. The only thing a "pirate" jobclass would add is a fancy hat in your AF. Chances are, the hat wouldn't be good enough to EXP in anyway. We all know melees never get to look their coolest in exp parties.

And everythings written in stone, right?

They will use MP, they are after all a Blue MAGE, and sit back because their melee abilities will be subpar like RDM, and the best sub will be WHM, that's how I foresee it being. I have a sixth sense, I know all! :P Personally I'd rather have it that way too, but either way I'm still playing the job. I'd rather be able to cast when I want too, and not have to worry about getting 100% tp before I can pull off a grp saving Healing Breeze, or the nifty virus breath attack, or any of the other multitudes of blue magics. Sides there's what a total of 10 WS at 75 on any one job with 1 weapon type you use TP for? I think there will be a lot more Blue magics, and integrating those with TP would only hurt the job I think, and obviously so does SE.
The Future according to BLU pts:
Group: Oh hey we need that healing breeze pronto!
Me: TP 58%!
Group: Oh shit
(Insert various abilities BLU can get in for HB)

I agree with Tiael, if you need 100tp to use your Blue Magic it would be a waste... a very big waste.

Though sometimes I wonder if the mobs need 100tp to do there fell magic. I know everyone has probably seen a goblin do around 3-4 Goblin rushes in about 45 secs. So if they do decide tp is to be used I would like to see a set amount of TP used for abilities.

I'm also wanting to know how a Blu will learn his abilities. do they have to just be used on/around him (hard to learn if they have to be used on you, you'd never get Healing Breeze) or will it be like FFX where you have a move that you use on the mob to learn it... or IX where you have to finish the monster to learn it... or VIII where you have to use an item dropped by the mob to learn.... or will it be (IMHO) retarded and require you to use your 2hour on the mob to learn it. Those three are the only concievable ways I can see a Blu learning spells.

I still say it will be MP based, and some melee abilities such as RDM, but more damage heavy spells like BLM
Taken from official site:
Employing the legendary arts of Aht Urhgan, these formidable fighter-mages(SE called RDM fighter-mages in the past, ed) employ elegantly curved blades for close combat, while decimating their enemies from afar with fell magic mastered from their opponents.

Afar, aka long range, and Fell MAGIC, the pics of BLU available thus far are probably only close range because they wanted to get the mob the BLU was fighting in the pic as well. Note they also have no weapon on in the pics, unless they are H2Hing it, I still say it'll be mp based. It's not Blue abilitiest, it's blue mage. Anyways as for learning abilities, they could have BCNM type areas like the 1's 20 SMNs solo for their avatars at lower lvls. Cept it could have different tiers of the BCNM, theres a 20 cap BCNM against a crawler, spell BLU could win is poison breath, they can go back to that same BCNM at 30, and fight a stronger crawler, and win Spider Web, 40 cap, so on so forth, there's a lot of possibilities, I wish SE would give more info about BLU sooner than later.

Nins use magic, they don't use Mp. whose to say it's impossible to cast Magic with Tp? I think it would make things fairly interesting.

On a side note, I don't believe it will end up like this. I'm 99% sure it will be Mp based, just saying what I would like to see.

if it's TP based, what makes you believe you need 100+ TP? They can still make it TP based and make he abilities stronger if you have more TP.

If BLU has to gain TP to use it's magic, SAM subjob will be a standard.

Which would make for an interesting turn in the job, since SAM's can use Scimitar swords too. Hmmm...

Think about this... SAM/BLU :D

besides, those juping slime balls have a TP-drain move. Won't be too hard to get TP ^^

Another way it oculd work, is that all spells have a TP cost, so if a spell costs 30% TP, and you haver 100%, it would cost 30 TP to cast the spell, and the remaining TP would be used to strenghten the spell.

Or maybe it will cost 30 TP to cast it, and you'll have 70% TP left. But that would overpower th job a bit, don't you think? <.<; I guess their 2-hour could be something like that...

If it's TP-based, one of the job-traits might be reduced TP cost by X ammount. and their 2-hour might either be to cut the TP cost in half, or give the Blue Mage 300% TP, and the spells used will only reduce the P by that amount, instead of using all of the TP at once.

Well, there's no way to know yet how it will work, but personally I hope its TP-based as that would make the job more interresting and tactical.

PS: the keyboard at the comp I'm currently typing on sucks, so if there's any missing letters or doubly/tripple letters, blame my keyboard as I'm literary bashing it to even be ablew to type "hi"

I'm sorry to say, the job would be a joke if it was strictly TP based. At least every job has the option to WS/SC if they have TP, not saying they should, but at least they have the option w/o worrying about other abilities/spells taking away TP, so what they're gonna screw over BLU's WS since the majority of spells will be better overall than WS, and solowise would rather use TP for spells instead of WS, gg let's nerf the job before it's already released? Might as well not call the job Blue Mage, let's call it Blue Samurai. It will be MP based, perhaps a bit of TP included, like SMN avatars BP's, the amnt of TP affects accuracy/strength. So Spider Web, MP 28 with 0% TP would be 30% accurate, but with 100% TP 80% accurate? Idk but I still say BLU would be a joke strictly TP based, I see it being pure MP based or MP for spells/TP for spell accuracy.
