Nrsss and NRHQ LS

The last thing I'll say about the botting "experiments" thing is that it's not a try-before-you-buy thing, as you say. Ghost even said he had to purchase it, used it for three days, then ditched it. At that point, the developer got his money, and he can go on about his shit-ridden bot-developing ways. "Test-driving" a game cheat enables more to be made, which is ultimately a low fucking thing to do.

No, there isn't. I had friends who confided in me that they'd "experimented" botting like Fleehacks and POS hacks etc, and I ratted them out when they told me because they were lessening my experience as well as the experiences of others ingame.

You are honestly saying that there's no difference between someone who loads up a bot program for a 7 year-old game and pos-hacks around a zone only a few times just to see it work, and then never touches it again, and someone who does it regularly to get places faster, or even just once to beat you to an NM? Because if that is indeed what you are saying, and you would actually blow the whistle on a friend of yours for only doing the former, then you sir, are a gigantic douche.

Trust me, I detest botters as much as you do. I've never joined an HNM shell because I wanted no part of that, and I really really hate that that part of the endgame scene now revolves around it. And yes, if I saw someone that I don't know pos-hacking around a zone, I'd report them too. I have reported them, actually. But if a friend of mine told me that they played around with one just to see how it worked, and never used it to gain an advantage in any way (and I believed them), then it would be a pretty dick move on my part to report them. I don't care what you say, it's certainly NOT the same thing. To claim that it is would be bandwagoning, and is incredibly narrow-minded.

Ahhhh... ok. I see where your argument stems from now. It really has nothing to do with whether he used it or not, it has only to do with the fact that he gave a bot developer money, and therefore was "supporting" the problem.

By that logic, if I went and paid that guy $20, and never actually even downloaded the thing, I'd be just as bad as Ghost in your eyes.

If that's the reasoning you are using, then I can understand that, and honestly, I can't argue against it. My opinion of it isn't nearly that strong, but I at least understand your logic now.

If you look at the screenshots that Ghost included, this was not a given reason that his pearl was broken. It was not their "justification" for kicking him. If you look at statements from the rest of the people who have quit, it was because of many, many other reasons.

Don't mind TG his agreement as not logic to it! He seen "BOT" and jumped on the Short bus just to get his two cents in. The fact that they getting flame about kicking him they had to go make them self's look good they pulled the Bot card after the real reason of why he was kicked.

So in the End two wrongs don't make a Right! i'm sorry Ghost got kicked over stupid shit, but if they where going to kick him for botting they should have kicked him when the list hit BG!

This same subject came up along time ago in terms of players that bought gil, and the "close friends" that ratted them out and I'm not talking about friends you've only known for a few months, I"m talking about childhood friendships ending over virtual currency.

The craziness writes itself.

The bullshit never dies, does it.

My logic is not akin to "if I gave 20 dollars to a supposed drug dealer, I'm just as bad as the junkies he supports". That tree has been proverbially barked up and down for years on QCDN. Yes, it's probably a cold fact that *everyone* who ever played somehow, somewhere, in some ridiculously minuscule manner, profited from a botter. The line is drawn, though, at saying "I paid for a bot", instead of "I gave this guy money, and I found out that he writes hax, am I going to hell".

Shut the hell up, BBT.

And this logic is completely ludicrous; primarily, because if I knew that any of my childhood friends or (shock and awe) family members were playing FFXI, or any online game, and I discovered that they were botting, I'd have verbally bitchslapped them in REALITY for their stupidity that they'd have likely given up botting in the first place. So no, don't give me a feeble attempt at equating use of a report feature to report malicious behavior that goes clearly against T&Cs of FFXI with selling out your oldest friend for a dime, Davion. You and I are far smarter than that, and I'm surprised you're insulting my intelligence in such a manner.

Maybe I should have have been more clear.

I've seen whole friendships end because of it. I'm not saying I'm condoning it. The backlash I saw on here when the subject came up was way over the top in my eyes. I'm merely saying how I would react to a friend about it is totally different.

Oh, okay. I was curious as to why (what seemed like) you were accusing me of such behavior, when you know me better than that :D

I retract my ire directed at you!

If you're still raising a pitchfork and torch in the crusade against botting, you should really start a new thread and look at the list for yourself.

Otherwise, if you continue in this thread, you're off topic because it was already established he was kicked before the list was released.

I agree with Dowzer here. I dislike botting as much as the next person, but I brought it up to see if that was really the reason for which he was kicked, which as it turns out wasn't because they found out after the fact.

Ghost, you're better off.
Sucks you missed your legs and got chump change for compensation.
Take it in stride and find a better group to play with.

lol in the first post, SS1 "...people are offended by >.>"

CLASSIC.

I am a filthy animal when I chat. If they are offended by ">.>"... I just can't comprehend that.
Is it a shell full of Ned Flanders.es..?

@jyak: I'm not saying that it's right to claim "oh, btw, we kicked him because he bots too" *after* a list of known botters is made public. I'm just saying it doesn't lend much to Ghost's credibility if that's how he chose to roll.

@Ghost: It does take a big person to admit wrong-doing.

I really don't like posting on the FB, even if I do take the time to read it, mostly just to see who to avoid in game. Aren't you just some kinda fucking saint or something. You've posted this fucking holier than though bullshit in posts before, specially when issue of bots have come up. I've let it by pass before just because, as was previously mentioned, often the issue of *insert name here* being a botter has completely negated their credibility.

I'm not going to say whether Ghost having used a bot is bad or good, as those terms are completely subjective. However, your little statement about having friends who had tried out bots once and you turned em in just pisses me the hell off.

Way to be citizen # fucking 1.

Please keep saving us from all the interweb evildoers.

I don't mean to add fuel to the fire, especially to a topic that's been resolved already. But! Even if Ghost payed to try a bot, and even though doing so breaks the rules of the T&C. It's none of my concern really.
It's like being a Hall monitor in a school full of immature kids. Even though you catch them doing inappropriate things, there's going to be even more people doing it behind your back. I still support Ghost's side of the story, even if he tried using a bot. The LS is the one at fault here, and going with the next best reason to kick someone sounds like they're trying to cover up their mistake. "SS or it didn't happen" Shizam! hard proof baby.
Things happen, if it doesn't concern or affect you, just be the better person. Let it go.

If someone is dumb enough to buy the bot how are we supposed to know if they're not lying when they say they've only used it once? They PAID for it. It cost a person money. If I bought something, I sure as hell wouldn't use it only once.

That's true, Myrrh. What I was trying to say is that I stand on Ghost's side on the whole ls-breaking-his-pearl for some stupid reason, but even if he still bots to this day (not saying he is), it's still none of my concern. If he bots, good for him, but I like my character too much to put it in jeopardy of being banned. Then again, that's just my take on the situation. Personally I would never bot, and I don't ever want to even consider the thought of paying real currency for a program that gives me the 'edge' in a -game-. I mean c'mon, I'd rather spend my money on some good food instead :D
