Official Halo 3 Thread - Halo > You

Got my copy! Now, time to finish my homework so I can play it. Damn you, Chemistry!

And holy hell. Everyone on my friends list is on Halo 3.

I've got 1 glaring complaint though. Anyone play splitscreen yet? What the fuck is up with the way they split it on high def widescreens? They throw black bars on the sides to cut it back to a 4:3 and then do top/bottom split. What the hell is that? It's not the end of the world but it's really pretty dumb.

Puts a whole new spin on the term 'split-screen' eh?

If you have a PS3, get Warhawk instead. It blows any Halo away in both graphics and gameplay.

You can't really properly compare Warhawk to Halo 3, they are two different types of games. There is really only one game you could properly pit against Warhawk at this time and that's Lost Planet which, makes Warhawk look like a bitch. In no way, form, or fashion do I think Halo 3 is even above decent but that's just not a fair comparison. It's like comparing Mortal Kombat to Killer Instinct back in the SNES days. Sure they were both fighting games but they were two different beasts. As for the graphics, no one expects Bungie to blow anyone away with graphics, that's Epic's job. There is not a better game that could be used for the saying, "graphics aren't everything." Heavenly Sword may look like a million bucks but that isn't helping its sales to much, is it?

Not to drag off topic, but NVIDIA tosses out 2 free copies of Lost Planet with every purchase of anything. (Seriously, I got 2 copies of it.) And the PC version is really a buggy piece of shit. Dunno about the 360 version.

I wasn't really trying to compare the two in terms of genre and actual gameplay so much as enjoyment factor and visual spectacle. I could just as easily used the Call of Duty series I suppose, which I personally (yes that is also my opinion) found to be more entertaining than Halo. I've heard a lot of people are upset with Halo 3, and figured I'd throw in a recommendation for a game I found to be more interesting. Plus I had just got done playing a pretty intense round of "dogfight" and had Warhawk on the brain :P

Also, lol @ "that other guy" and flaming my opinion while crying about how you want yours heard. Hypocritcal much? Don't worry buddy, your opinion is valid too. Believe it or not, everything I say and/or do is not the final law of the land. I'm glad you found Halo 3 to be the spectacular masterpiece it was hyped up to be. I'm sure you're not alone. My roommate has been walking around with a Halo-woody since 10am this morning too.

If my thinking that Halo is a redundant, visually disappointing game elicits such a hypocritical response from you, I'm just glad this is only a video game forum and not like politics or philosophy or something else instead.

To Firestreak-- thanks for the heads up man. I will let my roommate know that not all the copies out there got totally F'd up. Maybe he can swap it for a fresh copy that doesnt look like someone tried to skip it across their driveway.

Ironically for the hell of it I threw my lost planet disc in my PC and it's not too bad right now. Of course... it's nothing at all like warhawk. I mean, they're the same genre, they both are 3rd person shooters and both have vehicles you can run in and out of instantly. However in terms of how they actually play, I'd say they're no closer than Warhawk is to Halo. Completely different speed, different dynamic, different gameplay. Honestly Strid, I doubt you actually ever touched Warhawk and you're just talking out of your ass completely like usual.

Obviously people are going to be biased toward certain consoles, publishers, developers and conglomerates, and it'll effect our choice in purchasing, me as much as anyone else. Just don't rag on a game you never even played or were never going to give a chance, it just makes a pointless discussion.

Chills ran up my spine with the gregorian chant started.

I <3 Halo 3. I've taken a few pictures, just waiting for Bungie.net to update them.

Halo should be a multiplayer game only. Spare us with the unnecessary playings of a mediocre story and just let people headshot each other until something else marked "Halo" comes out. I still don't understand you people.

Whoa, that was fun. I'm really loving that saved film feature. Spent like an hour looking at my sniper kills in every different perspective and angle.

The gameplay feels much better than Halo 2, feels smooth and finished somehow.

And I actually like the Halo storyline, probably because I read the books.

77% of people voted they wanted to play campaign first
23% wanted to play multiplayer first

Welcome to the 23%.

yep, that story owned. Couldnt have asked for a better way to end an amazing story.
The star wars of our time.
on another note, Gamer fuel is more powerful than any other drink i know. No energy drink has EVER been able to keep me awake if thats what i wanted it for.
Ive been awake near 48 hours now because of this stuff and i for the life of me cannot get tired, i know i need to go to sleep but im wired wide awake.
My wife is pretty pissed about it lol.

Think what you like but them's the beans.

About Lost Planet on the PC being buggy, I wouldn't really know. My roomate doesn't seem to have problems with it when he plays but he doesn't play very often. The 360 version is just fine though.

Now back on-topic.

Just finished up playin' the story with Dragoth and I have to say I was a bit shocked. The story telling was actually good this time around. Not only that but it was fun to play. Even had a little side story goin' on there with the terminals. I gotta say, I'm not enjoyin' the multiplayer so much but the story mode was a helluva ride and I figured I'd find more value in the multiplayer. The ending was great (full Legendary ending that is. We beat it on Normal and played the last level on Legendary to see it.). Told you guys who thought the YouTube was a complete spoiler that it would leave for a good surprise :)

As far as multiplayer goes, I wished the sensetivity settings where a little more cleaned up. Even on setting one the reticle is really loose but you turn a lot slower (like you're suppose too). 2's sensitivity was perfect but this time around it just seems more "all over the place" even on my setting of four.

Looks like they left room for a fourth (despite what they say). If not, there is more to be told there whether by book or film. Kind of pissed me off because I wanted to see the end of everything but now I know there is more >_<

I don't know what the fuck youre talking about. Whats up with negative nancy halo people. I guess scoring pretty much 9+ across the board makes it a mediocre game (just like gears right). Have you even played halo 3 single player through yet? Co-op on legendary is bitchin too. Just beat it last night and i have to say it was epic. I don't think the story was shitty at all and the voice acting and characters were excellent again.

So yeah, the single player is bitching. I'd pay 60 bucks to get it just for the single player, but the multiplayer is just as bad ass, if not more so. Reviewing replays and screenshots is wicked now too, heres acouple i got from a slayer game i played last night.

Also, those are just the medium res ones, i didnt think you guys would like if i posted the 1500 x 1100 ones i have.

Going back and watching the replays from any angle, anywhere or behind anybody is insane. Oh and yeah, just playing the game is pretty fucking fun too.

Im going to say this once, if you suck at multiplayer, then you think multiplayer sucks. If your good at multiplayer, then you think multiplayer is good.

But that's not the case. I'm okay and after a few more days, I'll own but it's just not fun. Every time I play a match I'm left with the, "I've already played this game" feeling. It's old and stale.

Then go play graw 2 and stop bitching. No one is asking you to play halo 3. It's amazing, but if you dont think so then stfu and dont play it.
