Official Halo 3 Thread - Halo > You

Im going to say this once, if you suck at multiplayer, then you think multiplayer sucks. If your good at multiplayer, then you think multiplayer is good.
I rocked at the first Halo's multiplayer(only played halo 2 for 15 minutes, but it wasn't hard since the controls were almost identical to every other console FPS), but that didn't stop me from infinitely preferring co-op to the versus style multiplayer modes. It's a really stupid(and wildly inaccurate) to say that the only reason you don't like versus mode is because you suck at it.

Also, I found this insanely true:

It's definitely a good game, but not nearly deserving the acclaim it gets. Pretty much the only ones who give it that god-like status are the people who never owned a console before the xbox.

Has everyone here been doing Legendary with other people? I've been stuck on act 6 or 7 in legendary for the longest time, and i'm about to just go through it on normal. Anyone wanna do Legendary with me? :nyam:

I've not even touched the Campaign. D=

You do need to cut the original Halo a little slack. When it was being designed for mac, it was revolutionary. It was then snatched up by Microsoft and delayed 2 years for Xbox. In those 2 years, a lot of advancement happened in PC gaming while at the same time... Free Radical was born and started making my personal favorite console shooter, Timesplitters giving a great alternative on the PS2 and Gamecube.

For my next trick I'll insult your _____ (insert someone from your family you love very much), I bet a get a less irritable response from you, huh? Get a grip.

Sorry big guy, I'm just tired of hearing you bitch about what a crappy game it is yet "you have to play it" cause theres nothing else. Stop being a whiny bitch and enjoy playing it or play something else.

It's a great game, I'm not denying that; I'm just saying that it's not nearly as revolutionary or deserves the hype that it's getting. It's a lot of fun, but it's nothing truly special.

Q to the F to the mother fucking T

Yeah man, I love all those other games where i can go back and watch the games I just played from anyone elses perspective at any time, or those games where I can edit maps as I'm playing... those games are just everywhere on consoles and I love em...

I don't see why games have to be innovative to be good. Sure it's similar to Halo 2 (online) and you can only mix up the single player so much, but i still had just as much fun, if not more fun because i could just jump online with 3 other people and do co-op. And yes, coop is alot more fun then going through solo, unless your playing with a friend who doesn't shut the fuck up... but thats a different story.

Edit: Also

It's a really stupid(and wildly inaccurate) to say that the only reason you don't like versus mode is because you suck at it.

Naw, its not really stupid, it's pretty true. I mean, i don't know that many people who suck ass at it game and get owned everytime they play it and yet still play all the time. I know if i got my ass kicked all the time and never did better than last on my team I'd quit pretty fast (why i don't really play CS) I just don't see how it can be fun to get your ass handed to you all the time and bottom line you play games to have fun. So if you aren't having fun you're probably not gonna keep playing it.

I think the disconnect people are having is the difference between treating a game as a religion and being willing to spend $60 on it. As in, there are people here who think the game is worth the price tag and they'll pay for it, but it doesn't mean they think it's the best of its kind out there.

Like I just bought NHL 08. It's a good hockey game. EA provided a case, disc and instruction manual... I provided $60, we don't need to bring worship into this, or comparisons of NHL 08 to other recent purchases I think are better games. If I had to pick a game of the year, so far it'd be Odin Sphere. Doesn't mean I don't love Super Paper Mario(my favorite Wii game by a large margin), just means, if you say that Super Paper Mario is revolutionary I'll say... "well naw, it's worth my $50."

So just because someone doesn't worship Halo, doesn't mean they aren't allowed to buy it and doesn't mean their opinion on it isn't valid. Hell if anyone saying anything poor about the game was silenced we'd just have a bunch of Halo fanatics giving out all the reviews on the game and then justifying themselves with the review scores they gave. Not that that's happening at all.

Not by a long shot. If you don't like it, you don't play it. Not being good is a factor in enjoying it, but it's not the only one and most of the time it's not even the main reason for enjoying the game. I "suck" at RTS games because I loathe rushing(I can do it, I just hate having to), and if you don't rush, you don't win; period. That doesn't mean I don't have fun playing the game, it just means that I don't enjoy the multiplayer. Hell, if poor skill is the only reason you don't like multiplayer, just play against other people who aren't any good and it no longer becomes a factor.

Easiest example is in FFXI... I hate whm.. but that doesn't mean i can't be a good white mage... i just hate playing that job... i prefer being a DD for the thrill of meleeing and being in the fray. I hate tanking because I don't like what you have to do and how much money you have to spend on it at times. That doesn't mean if i play pld or nin I will suck at it. It just means i don't like playing the job. In this case.. don't read inbetween the lines... just take what's said at face value.

Brd. I love bard.. love what they do, etc etc... But lvling brd to 36 was the worst experience in my FFXI career. It didn't mean i sucked at playing bard. But to me.. bard is just too boring after lvling corsair. Some people enjoy what bards do and love the job. I'm just one of the people that don't.

Did anyone else buy the limited edition copy? When I bought mine the game broke on me and it turned out the case is scratching disks to the point of not being able to play. At the Futureshop where I bought mine there was I think 150+ returned copies with the same issues.

Yeah, it's a very common problem to have everything but the basic version of the game scratch the hell out of your disks. I heard(didn't look into it much, since I don't care enough about halo to get anything but the basic) that Microsoft is going to warranty all of the disks, so you should be able to get another copy that will work.

I returned it and got a new copy no prob but still a bitch. I wanted a shinny case D:

Was funny to see a whole line of people returning it and getting a new one though.

its just one of those things where if people get it they love it, if they dont get it, they never will.
I think halo deserves all the hype and more, It something special for me and all my friends.
Ive been a a gamer since my young days on atari, ive owned every system that has come out minus the PS3,Wii and handhelds outside of gamegear and gameboy.
(yeah that means i owned a virtual boy)
And halo has that something about it that just draw people in, It is a blast and the game of my generation. I couldnt ask for more from a game, all the flaws that were in 2 have been removed. I love the game.

but as i said, some will "get it" others never will.

and now i invite everyone to check out my service record and screen shots!!

I'm gonna go ahead and guess you don't get smoked in every RTS match you play though. Sucking at a game, and doing something you don't like (such as rushing) are two completely different things. If you tried and tried to win, such as rushing, hiding, building resources etc etc, and no matter what you did you got your ass raped, i honestly can't believe you'd continue to play that same RTS.

But hey, maybe youre a masochist and like getting ass raped, idk, but i don't.

That ricochet shot is ridiculous lol. Heres another one of me with the spartan laser, actually the same moment as the first screenshot in my last post, just a different angle.
