Who cares? It's fun.

lol I don't like the Halo series for a good reason. It did nothing for gaming except make Madden people play a different game. It lacked any sort of challenge and did nothing original. The only claim to fame it had was the controls were pretty decent for a console game, but it was nothing Timesplitters wasn't already doing on another system. I am saddened games like this get good ratings because that is $60 people could be putting towards a better game, which might lack the multi-million budgets, but have an overall better gameplay.

So why buy any game then? Nearly every game concept has already been done on another system at one point or another. All most games have is their controls vs. older games.

Besides i can reverse it. All madden did was make halo players do something else. We both know that neither is true, but from what you just said, that is all that you don't like halo for. Pretty much out of spite.

I have no reason to be bitter over the Halo series. Millions of people may like it, but their reasoning is nothing more than pretty graphics and a shooter, and that is no reason to buy a game.

Exactly, you have no reason to be bitter, but clearly you are. Who are you to judge why millions of people buy a game. You ever think that maybe it might be just you? Besides, who are you to judge why what someone wants to do with their money?

I don't buy many other games. I rent a lot because I know I will usually be disappointed.

Madden was out before Halo, so switching it proves nothing.

And I have every right to judge millions of people on what games they play. It's called having an opinion, and is based on much more than "It's Halo so it has to be good" like every Halo fan out there. Excuse me for not putting up with what I believe to mediocre.

as a halo fan i have never said "its halo it has to be good"
because i know its good.
No challenge?! Switch it to legendary and tell me theres no challenge. Youll be throwing your controller and cussing in no time, especially in sniper alleys.
All it has is controls? I have never once in my entire time of playing halo ever even thought about the controls.
I play because its fun, its quick to jump into and the fun just keeps coming. I dont play because someone else said it was good or because millions of others cant be wrong.
I play because, I, as a game, Enjoy the game. Because it is fun, The most fun in a shooter i have ever had, when any other shooter before bored me and i stuck to mainly rpg's always.
Because the story keeps me interested and expands to much more than just the game. Because i can meet up with my friends easily and head out to have some fun.
before halo, I never liked shooters at all, no matter what i played it was bland to me.
Halo brought something more to the table with console LAN. Which became hosting halo parties with friends and the most fun i remember playing a game.
Halo 2 took it online so we didnt have to lug consoles around and connect tons of tv's in the same house just to play, it let us play against more than just the same group of friends over and over all night.
Halo is the equivalent of friends getting together to watch the super bowl. Its a good reason, its good fun.
And halo 3 will bring all of that to the next level.
I Dont play halo because i think its good or because its a big name game.
its a big name game for a reason.
Because we as gamers, know its good.

Seriously HaloCE sold 7Mill'ish. Halo 2 9Mill'ish. Halo3 we dont know if it can top those, probably. But if you had not noticed HaloCE had a huge amount of fans on its own. Not off hype from previous games, not because of madden... lol wtf with that comment... Maybe you are in some other gaming universe were there is a multiplayer game better then Halo. Let me in some time lol. But Lanien there is no prob with you having an opinion bud. Just at times it seems fanboy like, not sure who or what you are so excited about. But every reason you dont like the game is every obvious DUH reason others do like it... Seems like you never even played it from some comments.

Madden was out before Halo, so switching it proves nothing.

Marathon was out about the same time as the first Madden game, maybe even a little before.

Since you're so intent on calling halo medicore, why do you think that? Try to actually give a good reason. Not just something like, "Because i liked timesplitters better."

How is one considered a fanboy when they don't like Halo? You think it's because I am all gung ho for PS3? Don't you remember I was one against PS3? Hell, I even work for Nintendo and I am pretty anti-Wii right now. I am not what you would call a fanboy, rather really picky.

I have played both Halos and participated in the beta. I have done single player campaigns, co-op, and multiplayer. I am not saying I liked Timespliiters better, but when a game like Halo1 prides itself on its control scheme, it shouldn't jack it from another game. Hell, I don't even like Timesplitters at all except for the controls. But Halo 1, single player campaign took no more than 5 hours to complete on any difficulty. The weapons were decent, but ended up using 1 the whole time as long as I had the ammo, the mobs were repetative, the locations generic, and no real story except "kill everything". The warthog handled like shit, and having the final level require you to drive it was ridiculous. The vehicles were decent, not necessary unless it was required.

On to Halo 2, graphics got prettier, don't care. More vehicles, yay? Slightly longer campaign mode. But OMG DUAL WIELDING? What a way to get people to play, but wait, Goldeneye had this on 64 and the dual-wielding for that was much better. The one gun I did use in Halo1 is gone. Multiplayer, better, only reason I played for a while was because all other games lost people to Halo. For what reason? Oh, teabagging, gotcha. There is only so many times you can kill the same 12 year old without it getting stale.

So those are my reasons, go ahead and refute them as any Halo fan would do, about how dual wielding was fun and the story was so great that it took 3 games to tell it.

Nicely put. I agree with everything you just said.

I've tried to make this point before. People will come and tell you "Oh, but the Halo books tell the story, and its awesome."

I shouldn't have to read a bunch of crappy Halo novels to know what the hell is going on.

I had the same problem with Gears of War. "We're at war" is not good enough to be the whole story.

Your opinions are just that, opinions. You have the right to them. Bungie started dual weilding in FPS. Resident Evil 2 is one of the best games ever, took 1 Hour 30 minutes to beat or less. Why does "time it took to beat" matter in how good a game is? So i have no clue how long it took me to complete Halo and Halo 2s campaign. Lets just say it was 12 Hours combined. The amount of time i, along with MILLIONS of others spent on multiplayer is record breaking. It just doesnt happen because its as you say a terrible game and franchise. 5BILLION+ matchmade games on Halo2 alone, we have no documented numbers on HaloCE because its impossible. There is one thing in common with the three games you pair together tho. Madden, HaloCE and Halo2. And i understand you for being a hater and pairing them together. Its lonely up there were these games stand as far as gaming standards go. Every game made from now till the covenant attacks IRL will be compared to these 3 games success. Mind you there are others like GTA series and what not. These games are the Peak of gaming and will always be deeeeeply criticized. Like the yankees. 26 World championships yet they are one of the most strongly loved and strongly hated. Halo as a franchise is the shit, you love it or hate it bro. Its all good Lanien while we enjoy the 3rd installment you can go play lolHaze or something. A real quality game ya know. lol. Seriously tho you have your right to an opinion.

prepare for the great record shattering halo 3's arrival! game of the year no doubt as it has officially gone GOLD!
Most Anticipated Title of 2007 Released to Manufacturing, Begins Final March to Xbox 360

The wait is almost over. "Halo 3," the final chapter in the groundbreaking "Halo" trilogy and the most anticipated game release of 2007, has been released to manufacturing.

Three years in the making by renowned developer Bungie Studios, "Halo 3" is now finished and will begin its journey to store shelves around the world in less than four weeks. "Halo 3," which has already set new records as the fastest preordered game in history, has exceeded one million presales in North America alone. The title is set to shatter day-one entertainment sales records when it is released worldwide beginning Tuesday, Sept. 25.

"This is a huge milestone for us and a big cause for celebration at Bungie and Microsoft Game Studios," said Harold Ryan, Studio Head at Bungie Studios. "This is the game we've always wanted to make and certainly the best game our studio has developed. We can't wait for gamers to get their hands on it on Sept. 25."

Created by legendary developer Bungie Studios and exclusive to the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, "Halo 3" will set a new standard for interactive storytelling and social gaming by engaging consumers worldwide in Master Chief's epic battle to save humankind. In November 2004, the world's view of video games changed forever with the release of "Halo 2," which generated a record-setting $125 million (U.S.) in sales within the first 24 hours and changed the way people think about interactive entertainment. Three years later, it remains the most-played game on Microsoft's Xbox LIVE® online gaming and entertainment network, with nearly 1 billion hours of online gaming logged to date.

First bolded statement. Unless they made something before Halo and many other games that is a dual wielding FPS that I am unaware of, then please inform me. Does no one remember Goldeneye?

Second bolded statement. Length of a game is a huge factor in how good a game is. I don't know about you, but I am highly disappointed with all next-gen games being over in just a few hours, just like I was disappointed with many PS2 and XBox games with the same lengths. I don't understand how you can't take playtime into consideration.

Third bolded statement. I love how if I dislike games, I immediately get called fanboy or hater. I for one love Madden games ... up until the 2006 game when it sucked balls. Then again in 2007, when it sucked balls. 2008 is nothing great either, but better than the previous 2. I group Halo and Madden together because after I worked 2 years at GameStop, and 4 years of college, I was able to see what games people played, and there were too many times where I had to ask for a reservation as part of my job, and 3/5 times, people said "I only play Halo and Madden"

And I will play Halo just because I play pretty much every game that comes out. I will also play Haze. Neither of those get my hopes up, and in my opinion, neither will be any good.

Bungie did not start dual wielding. That statement is hilariously false.

I do agree that RE2 is one of the best games ever, though. I couldn't beat it in an hour and a half though, that shit sounds crazy.

Bungie made Marathon in 1994. First dual wield FPS. Lenght of games do not make a game good, Period. It does matter more if you have an RPG. What games are you playing that are setting these standards? 6 hours is just fine. There are some great games that are longer sure. Lanien seriously man... You are not a fan of this gen because games are not 40 hours long. You were not a fan of last gen as you just said because the same reason. So exactly when did you like games? When they used colors you could count on your hand? When every image on screen was made using huge square pixels? Give me a break dude. Why do you even post in the gaming section if you are so upset with the current stage of gaming? You were even upset during PS2 era? Huh?

yeaaaah sure.

"Marathon was first released for the Macintosh in 1994 and introduced many concepts now common in mainstream video games. These features included dual-wielded weapons and realtime-voicechat in multiplayer sessions." From wiki. But any FPS fan knows this.

Resident Evil 2:
How to get all the Ranks
S Rank: Beat the game in 1:30. Use only One herb. don't use any weapon upgrades, no special weapons (like the R. Launcer) and don't pick a weapon up more than one time, like if you pick up the shot gun from the weapon owner, don't go and get it on the police station.

A Rank: Beat the game under 3:00 and don't use any first aid, no special weapons.

B Rank: Just beat the game under 3:00

C Rank: Finish the game in 5 to 7 hours

D Rank: Beat the game over 7 hours

From every gaming site that shows RE2.

Iirc, Marathon (the first bungie FPS) was pre-golden eye, but i still liked Goldeneye better, just for the fact that you can snipe someone with a sniper rifle just as well with an automatic shotgun.

As far as gameplay goes, i say to each his own. Osyris isn't as big campaign as he is multiplayer, so he obviously won't care as much about how long the single player takes. While you seem (to me) the complete oppisite.

I prefer replay value in single player vs. both, which is why i LOVE GoW. Each time i play through the A.I. does something new. Sometimes i want a challenge and i'll play on insane, or if i just want to own stuff, i'll play on casual.

As far as him calling you a hater, i don't think he meant it in the same way that you are taking it.

You should be more usefull than a windshield wiper on a goat's ass lan...

Holy balls. I don;t think I ever got higher than C rank. I always got lost running around the po-po station.

You know Makelith is right. We are completley different gamers. For me i need to have replay value. If its multiplayer, Co-op campaigns or just single player games i need to be able to play it more then once. Other wise its just as i call em "an achievement game" where i just rack up my points for XBL;; Kinda a one time play and dont mind if you lose it game. That does not apply to RPGs with me tho lol. The game i played longest recently was Oblivion, like 60 hours into it. Now if a game is great and long in lenght thats cool. But i just dont feel it is close to a standard. Lanien i got no prob with ya, said it couple times that we all are entitled to our opinions.

Never actually played Marathon, but did play third.

But yeah, I guess we are just different type of gamers. I need a solid campaign for me to deem a game to be good. Don't get me wrong, I like multiplayer, but Halo just didn't do it for me. I am happy with my UT games, I enjoy the much faster pace of those games in terms of multiplayer. Maybe it is because I get sick of hearing 12 year olds in Halo over voice chat whine when I shoot them in the face from a mile away.

Who knows, Halo just isn't my cup of tea, and I still don't get why people rave about it.

With the jump to 360, Halo has gotten ALOT better, as far as campaign and multiplayer. The AI has been dramatically improved, graphics are a shit ton better than H2, and all the other improvements. I, for one, and looking forward to H3 coming out, and I honestly don't care if it's not someones cup of tea.

BTW: Halo isn't the first game to take more than 1 game to tell its story. Remember .hack?
