Sucker Punch's latest game, inFamous, has gone gold. I haven't seen a thread for this game around so I suppose I'll make one.

Infamous-cover.jpg

Plot:

inFamous is about Cole McGrath, a bike messenger and resident of the fictional Empire City. At the start of the game, a package that Cole was assigned to deliver, causes a huge explosion that rips apart six city blocks, leaving behind a crater and Cole as the only survivor. The explosion has granted Cole several electricity-based powers, but he falls into unconsciousness, waking up two weeks later to find that Empire City has fallen into chaos; without police, gangs have taken over areas of the city, and a plague has infected many of the residents causing the city to be quarantined by the government. It is revealed by "The Voice of Survival", which is really a man named Dallas,a surviving disk jockey that broadcasts across the city, that Cole was the cause for the explosion, and thus setting the population of Empire City against him. Cole must come to terms with his powers, and opt to help those in need or simply survive on his own, facing off against larger threats that have manifested in the city due to the explosion and its aftermath.

Gameplay:

inFamous is a Third Person Sandbox Action game, where Cole is a living weapon. You use Cole's Electrical powers to fight against gangs and help the citizens across Empire City. You can also make Cole go anywhere in the city, for example, you can use Cole's powers to make himself a magnet to stick to steel scaffolding.

What do you guys think?

Btw, no comparing to Prototype please, I've seen enough of that on Gametrailers forums far, FAR too much. ¬_¬

I like prototype;s style more. Haha.

Game was originally slated for July. Got bumped up to May last i heard from the Sony rep, that sucks so very much.

Game looks good, intend to buy it first day.

It stands out to you that much Fire? I will rent this game as i have alot of games lately.

Empire City?
Cole better know how to run fast. Very fast.
Spoiler:

Sounds and looks pretty terribad to me, but I know you kiddos love your garbage stories and sand box games these days.

Kinda reminds me of those spiderman games. They're mindless but they're fuckin fun for a few weeks. This one looks like it plays better than any of those and has real production values. Not so sure what the problem here is. Also let's not forget the studio making this game, nuff said.

I dont go for the studio name stuff anymore.. HAZE.

The game doesnt look bad. When i pair this up to the other sandbox games available and coming soon i just cant get to excited. I will rent it for sure though.

Hopefully this won't end up like Crackdown where people passed up a good game just for the beta key.

Seems the reaction to this is different though. inFamous has been pretty well known for the past few months, and even before the announcement of Uncharted 2's beta, many people were going to get this anyway, whereas for Crackdown, It seemed pretty much under the radar until the Halo 3 beta was announced, then people started noticing it, at least that's from my experience.

Edit:

Also, instead of having the beta on disc like the Halo 3 beta was on Crackdown, the Uncharted 2 beta will be downloadable through a beta key, so, less space is wasted on the disc.

Downloading the demo now. It's supposedly got lots of gameplay. Osy don't bother renting, for the same $5 you'd spend renting it, just pre-order this at best buy and get the demo. Then if you like it, you can get the $5 towards the game purchase - if not I assume you can get the $5 transferred toward another game, I don't know how best buy works for sure but probably should ask first.

People are sayin it's great but I actually liked GTA4 and other sandbox games unlike a lot of QCDN.

Quit talking out of your ass. The Halo 3 beta wasn't on the Crackdown disc. Crackdown had a menu option in game that accessed the marketplace page to download the Halo 3 beta. Once downloaded, the menu is updated to launch the Halo 3 beta instead. There was no "wasted space," unless a few hundred kilobytes is seriously a big deal to you. We get it. You don't like Microsoft because they killed your father and raped your mother.

I may just go with that Fire. I hear some good things about the demo so far. Its tough for me to purchase two sandbox games so close to each other but maybe i will have to.

Ok, THAT I didn't know. It was, once again, my mistake. Also, that last part was WAY out of line you jerk. For one, I don't have a dad! For two, the context was a little extreme given that I made a simple mistake seeing as I didn't know you have to dl the beta from the marketplace, I just thought that it was already on there due to the way into it being on disc, rather than a download from a beta code.
