Bustaballs said:The largest space consuming games out there are the big time mmos. FFXI only takes up like 8~ GB of space with all updates and expansions. I don't see any game within the next 5 years using the full capacity of the single layer blu-ray discs.
Elemmire said:hehe we'll see. The games could be VERY detailed graphically and VERY large (MMOs with a world that's truly world size.. now that'd be hawtness). Who knows.. we'll just have to wait and see what they make. The more and more I see of the PS3's capabilities the more I want it. I need a job x.x

Skaw said:Games are restricted by how detailed they can get graphically by the consoles GPU core. It's not a storage issue, it's a hardware issue.
Precisely what I'm negligibly negligible on, negligibligationally. Pronounce that, b_tches!Elemmire said:hehe we'll see. The games could be VERY detailed graphically and VERY large
I think he was pointing out the fact that we wont have to shell out for dual- triple- or quad-layer Bluray's anytime soon.Skaw said:Well, if you don't use up all the space on the discs, you still have to pay full price for it. There is no paying for the storage used by the production companies.

I'd bet anything that the Sony fanboys would praise sony at their "innovative technolody."
I would fancy a guess that they will continue compressing install sets in the future to the same ratio they do today, even with such vast storage capabilities. The game publishers will still save factory equipment time by pressing discs with less data.Bustaballs said:On second thought, I see some game developers cutting back on encoding with this technology so it's possible that the discs could be used to their full capacity sometime in the near future.
I don't believe that's Sony's decision. Game developers need to make the choice whether or not to include support for advanced controller functions, so blame the devs and not Sony if the m/s enabled games are crap.Rinoah said:i honestly doubt sony will use it in more than 5 games and i would be very suprised if even one of them was any good
Elemmire said:this made me lol cause you're a fanboy praising Nintendo for their "innovative" motion sensor.. guess what.. NOT NEW! Nintendo didn't create it.. it's been around for awhile just nintendo is making more use for it with games. (Virtual Reality, ever play that at an arcade or anything?)

OMG consoles have progressive scan and greater than 640x480 resolution... but wait, PCs have had that for a VERY long time.
What bearing does that have on the home console industry?
