Finally, a background story that isn´t haphazardly translated.
 
Graphics look awesome, but I won't be touching this because of the "SHIT BATTLE SYSTEM THEY STILL WON'T CHANGE"

I think the current battle system isn't that bad. But yeah they did already say they were changing it didn't they? I mean there's even a vid of FFXIV on youtube of them killing mobs or something.
 
No auto-attack for one, from what I recall of the relevant interview.
 
I think the battle system of ff11 is just fine, I'm down for a change, but wouldn't mind if they kept it similar either.
 
The battle system is vastly different from FFXI.


  • You need to input every command separately, even normal attacks
  • You have a skill bar like in WoW at the bottom where you put your macroes
  • You stack up to 3000 TP
  • Each special attack requires a set amount of TP
  • Weapon skill gains levels in order to teach you new abilities and gain new stats
And this is just what they have revealed so far.
 
Regardless of whatever the battle system is, I trust SE will make it comfortable and enjoyable. The only issue I'm iffy on is not being able to run away from the pc for 30 seconds. You have to be on your feet.

Completely agree! If the phone rings I can at least be at ease knowing my character is at least doing minimal damage while I'm out of the room for less than a min.
 
Yeah, and knowing how many afkers there were in 11, hmm.

Most people aren't complete afkers, but almost everyone has done it. If I needed to grab a drink or grab the phone, at least I know I'm not just standing around. If people have to be there to swing, then people going afk for just a couple seconds would hurt the group. That is going to be hell if I have to afk for a second while solo and come back dead because I didn't have an auto-attack to finish it off =/.
 
Very true lol, or being a DD in a merit party. If it was a slow party you could always surf the web while auto attacking and still parsing the highest in the pt!

Devil Kings. Dude wields six swords in combat, and when sheathed, they look like a dragon's wings. Pretty awesome game, shame NA only ever got one.

On topic, it sounds like a mix of WoW's combat with like, FFIX's ability system. Let the AP GRINDAN begin!

Heh, and here I thought the dude from One Piece was psycho for wielding three swords, this guy goes and takes the cake wielding six O_O;

Looked at the site today...am the only one who is a bit unimpressed with the way they threw together the descriptions of all of the classes.

"The seventh element is you!"...in word script on a white screen....I mean seriously?

All of the new armory stuff looks pretty bleak and almost cloned from ffxi...haha
