Oh The Weather Outside is stupidly frightful

OK, it's now snowing here in Indianapolis. Now, I've lived in Chicago all my life- and if you're familiar with Chicago you'd know that getting the roads plowed and salted in a timely fashion is a BIG deal. Mayor Byrne actually LOST HER JOB because she dropped the ball back in '76 (I think that was the year, it was a little before I was born). So if there are reports of snow, they have a massive fleet of trucks out 3 hours before the first flake hits the pavement, crusting everything in 3 inches of salt.

Cut to Indianapolis- I've got what looks to be about 5-6 inches in my backyard right now, judging by how high it's piled up around my garden lanterns. We have YET to see a snowplow go through the intersection by our house. Mind you, this isn't a dinky intersection either. Allisonville Road is the main thoroughfare to get to I-465 and Castleton Mall, and it's totally swamped with snow. No plows, no salt. How can people live like this? God forbid, I've been spoiled by 20 years of a public works department that's expected to actually DO THEIR JOB. -_-

Fellina you live right by me. I live off of Allisonville in the Castleton/Fishers area. Some places in Indiana got 21 inches  Unfortunatly we only recieved 8-10 by me. I did get stuck a little. I had the pleasure of being the first person to turn left out of my apartment complex and the plows mixed with some snow drifting had a nice pile of snow waiting for me to bust through. <Decent Challenge>

I will say that Indianapolis is a little lax on getting out before the snow and ice hits always has. Been here since '78.

40+ MPH winds here and its a chilly 40 degrees outside. That stuff is harsh winter for Arizona.

I'm not complaing right now I'd rather be skiing.

Hmmm.... around 65 degrees here in sunny Santa Cruz. The mornings have been pretty cold. Like 50 somethin' degrees. We'll talk to you all later, I think I might goto the beach for a minute. :P

lol we just got ass fucked with snow today ; ; they still have warnings for snow squalls up. there was a little frosting when i went to bed last night, woke up this mornning to find 401 (freeway) closed, 402 closed the motel where i worked packed with ppl who were in acccidents, and calf high snow to wade through. They even pulled the plows off the road bc there was too much snow still coming down.
