wth is the deal with these people? Why would you ask someone if they wanted a party, then about 5 minutes later, take back the invitation? This doesnt make any sense! And no, they didnt disband, I checked again several minutes later, and theyre still partying.

Found someone better to take me spot in the pt? Thats cool and all, but why not actually look through whos available for pt before asking? And if thats not the case, then why are you asking two people to replace one person, at the same time??

/sigh

boo hoo, I want a party :(

Your first mistake was taking an invite from some retard who can't compose an invite consisting of another word besides "party". Not even a fucking question mark.
...seriously, wtf... competent leadership... it's a lost art.

maybe they are disbanding>? or someone came back from D/c

well I mean like disbanding in like 30mins ;o

Geerally the first thing I say in /tell is "party?" then after that I spell out the setup and/or jobs im planning on inviting. I find that getting the /tell in first is the priority so that they cant say they "just" got an invite right before you finished detailing the party where it's going and how it's setup.

People tend to notice a key job all at once so being the first to ask is always a boon.
I gotta say though. Cmon if the person responds and you asked them to part let them the hell in at least.

I may be reading this wrong, sorry if I am. But I was the one that was invited to the party :p per se

Was semi responding to garvin more than you. Since he comented that anyone that only uses the word "party" for the entire text of the invite is being an idiot I responded why in some cases thats merely a way of ensuring the person being asked doesnt get taken before you type out a long lengthy invite request.

That's right. People usually ask if someone wants to party and then gives the details. So it's okay to accept the invite if someone says party.

Well at least u got a hug >>

Kidding. But that does suck. I love it when I'm seeking and I get half way to camp and they disband. >.>

Invited a galka BLM last night (name escapes me), I was like... meh galka...blm. /invite, so he showed up to camp wearing nothing but galka RSE, bastokan ring, and an empress band. Insta-booted. And he asked me WHY!

I told the guy /c <me> and you tell me...

Some people are bearable, the rest are absolutely atrocious and not worth the time.

Biggest pet peeve with invites are when they send a /tell, and all they say is "Hello". You're then required to send a "Hello" back, and wait for them to respond.

Why can't you say "Hello, party do you need it?" in the same /tell? It makes more sense to sum up what you're going to ask along with your greeting, so you're not wasting time waiting to hear what the question is going to be.

And i'd agree with Garvin, that invite didn't sound like it was going to be coming from a competent leader, which meant that likely your party was going to be lacking in some way. Its always good to ask questions if the person inviting doesn't give you the details about what your party setup is, and of course just asking general questions when they can't use a simple sentence but speak in 1 word /tells.

This happens all the time, someone in the party probably had a friend they wanted in or something. The guy let you know before you went anywhere, so you should consider yourself lucky. I've had invites rescinded after 15 minutes of chocobo-ing and teleporting.

Sucks you didnt get to party, but it coulda been a lot worse.

yeah I do understand what you mean. Just yesterday I had a pt made of several people, 5/6 (plus one more I IM'd on AIM who was just logging on) and two of the people were in a set (RDM and SMN.) After about 5-15 minutes of setting up the party, the RDM said "Sorry, Im going to go level with a friend." And the SMN and him left. I mean, Im really glad it was just 5-15 minutes instead of an hour or something... But this basically trashed the entire party because no healers at all were seeking, lol. /sigh

Yeah, I think that's kind of bullshit. First thing, Galka RSE is probably the best piece mage gear for a Galka up to mid level. I don't know what level your party was.

You knew it was a /Galka/ mage, so if great gear was a criteria for you, you should have asked how it was before you pulled him out there. It may sound rude, but if he's offended and turns down the party, his gear is probably bad, and he's not worth your time anyway.

I think its a combo between incompetence and laziness, with a dash of dumbassery for flavor.

If youre gonna invite me to a party, at least give me like one fuckin hint as to what's going on. Is it that hard to say "Hey, Making a party, got WHM, BLM, NIN, and SAM so far. Care to join?"...

Apparently, because instead I always seem to get:

(Sephicloudxi) Hay man u wants da parti? Lol
(Timwakefield) Please die. Kthxbai

Havlung sucks. Bhaflau Thickets or Bust!

Damn right. In this case, I like the common way the Japanese do it. It's long and winded but basically exactly what you said in the second paragraph.

In english it's just "<Party>?"

Which I then have to follow up with, "What do you have in your party?" Or I just don't even bother responding if they're like rank2 lol. (yesi'madick)

Maybe it's lazyness on my part, but sometimes spelling things out is just quicker.

My brd mule is rank two. I bet you wont say no to my bard. Bow down and worship my shaft!

Hahaha, It depends if your brd was like 22brd/7whm or if it actually looked like a potentially respectable person was leveling it.

I'm not a brd fanboy lol. I've solo'd enough on this game that I really don't worship any jobs as I've probably only spent maybe 1% of my total gametime in an orthodox (edit: experience points) party.
