So as many of you might (not) know i have recently moved to Canada from England with my family and have started up school. It's just i miss my old bunch of friends SO much, i think about them alot...i have a playlist of music dedicated to them, but it only gets me somewhat depressed as i can't talk to them as easily as i could.

I have made a load of friends in school and stuff but i still miss my old friends.

Sorry for this vent, just miss some people not the country...but yes ; ; has anyone else moved away from close friends or anything?

I moved from South Carolina to Minnesota when i was in the middle of school. It may not have been the same distance as you, but i bet the culture shock was about as bad.

Try to keep in touch with them though. At first you will check your e-mail every day and then as you move on it will get checked less and less until you just don't check it anymore. That's what i did and it helped me a whole lot.

Even though it may have been a while, it's still so fresh. Also, you'll grow so much from this experiance.

I sometimes want to move away from all my friends and family for maybe like a year... Somewhere far away, like Ireland or Spain. I also live in Canada, what province did you move to? Ontario here.

i am in Ont too, i tend to call them every other weekend, i talk to them on msn but its hard with time differences.

we don't really e-mail each other as its quite monotone but school has been getting in the way of me calling them.

I guess i'll get over it but i dunno. Also like you said cua about your family and friends, i don't think i could do that as they drive me to be better and just generally are awesome people

A good move my friend :D

And I haven't moved since I started 1st grade, so I've never had to deal with that. I've had some people I know move away but thats not anywhere near as bad. I did try and keep in touch with some of my friends from preschool and such, but that only last a short while.

I remember moving from OH to TN during middle school. It still makes me sad knowing I lost contact with friends from long ago. You do move on though, and I've got a lot of good friends now.

6 weeks old: moved from Idaho to South Carolina
5 years old: SC - Florida
8 years old: FL - SC
12 years old: SC - rural Virginia
13 years old: VA - Montgomery, AL
15 years old: AL - Virginia Beach
17 years old: VA - South Georgia
19 years old: GA - SC

Yeah, I know a thing or three about moves, and loss of friends as such :\

It sucks.

The only consolation is that it gets easier as you get older.

i guess, but i was practically with them everyday in england, we worked together etc etc. we called each other parents mum and dad because of how much we saw each other, i think that's what is really making it hard...

Sometimes it's better for the heart, people change as well not saying your friends have

Reminds me of the time when my mom's friend moved to the states from Germany and caught back up with a ladyfriend I knew when we were in like elementary school.

My friend was the same but that was the problem she was the same like a kid lol but didn't want to grow up; think she was 14 and I was 16ish at the time but one may need to be apart to see those qualities you don't see up close.

If that makes sense

not really...i don't really miss the country...just the people
Ditto, I moved from Scotland to Western Canada many years ago and dont regret the move, cold damp miserable country with high unemployment. The friends I left behind I missed its sad though as time went by we communicated less.

thats what i hate thinking about...it honestly just disheartens me...
Time moves on, you lose old friends but make new ones. One thing I found moving to a new country (with a horrendously thick accent) was I made friends quickly sometimes a change becomes a welcomed one.

aye, my accent is generally loved...i have loads of new friends since i am going to Uni here, i guess it's because we were all close and what not which makes it harder.

Thanks for helping me out guys i really appreciate it ^^

Np take care and enjoy the exciting new world you're in. After awhile you'll hardly ever look back. :)

Metallica said it best:

"And my ties are severed clean, the less I have the more I gain....."

You'll get over it. I moved the summer before my senior year in HS. It sucked, so I know what you're feeling, but you'll grow out of it. I know you'll argue and won't understand, but trust me when I say that you probably would have grown apart or grown stagnant anyway. This experience also can serve as a tempering tool for some of life future experiences.

England is not awesome... we've had constant rain all bloody week.
