Old Schoolers lolol

I started November 13th, 2003. Sold Leaping Boots on the ah in Bastok for 120k and thought I was never going to run out of money.

I enjoyed the treant event in December, and where they accidentally added a 0 or something to their HP so no one could ever do damage... so everyone theorized that you had to use sparkling hands while you ws and air riders to distract them.

Let's see... then there was Cure V scroll on the ah that had level 80 pld listed on it, seeing the race from 70 to 75 when the last level cap was introduced, seeing avatars for the first time, and finally seeing Fenrir.

Being killed in Konschtat while leveling my first subjob and a japanese taru whm running by (named Karol or something) and raising me, and throwing a Cure V out which blew me away.

The game is definitely more fun when the world seems a lot bigger. I've been playing the new Everquest 2 demo, and I'm kind of enjoying it.

Haha I had a similar deal with Leaping Boots. I sold mine for 250k in Jeuno when I was a Lvl20 or 30 MNK and felt like I was so rich.

I remember that glitch with the treants too. That was good stuff.

Still Here first Euro Realese day.

But I only knew Expensive days, I think Euros we could start 1 year after everyone

I'm so old school I remember back in the day when the dunes had like 200 on a good day

Yea, the dunes used to be pretty packed back in the day. :-D
Getting a party was easy and golden.

Started NA release, quit .. a while ago.

I miss duoing with trip, war & rdm to the mid 20s without ever going farther than bubumiru -.-

XI peaked waaaaay to early ><

I think I started around April of 2003.

I remember lvling war as my first job as a hume since taru was my second choice. Anyways, once I hit lvl 5 and got the Provoke job ability I kept wondering why in the hell was I going to get a monster to attack me?!? I honestly had no idea what the game dynamics were since ff11 is my first mmorpg.

My first ls was ZoningPros and the only people that I can remember being in there was Marienkind and Razzo. I think Razzo still plays just for Ballista and Mari is m.i.a. since I have not seen her since I came back from my 3 month break.

Good memories with this game and it still keeps going! :)

Marienkind

There's a name that brings back lots of PuG memories. No huge deep friendship or anything but definately a name i remember out of many i don't. One of my favorite folks to xp with or see around town.

Still here! I started on first day it was released in October of 2003.

I started as PLD and it took me FOREVER to get lvl 75 XD. I remember when anything more than 3k exp per hour was a godsend. Gaining levels are definitely a lot quicker than they used to be. Exp changes to gain levels, chariot/empress rings, ppl play a better game so exp just rolls in.

Don't bother coming back. The player base now compared to what it used to be is garbage. I started on PC NA release, from day 1. Comparing about 6months into NA release to now, it's disgusting to see how poor the players are these days. I recently tried leveling a few jobs in the mid 30-40 range and I may have had 1 party out of every 20 that could actually show any sign of cohesiveness and get maybe 3k/hr if that.

So this has changed how?

actually i get party now on war, then when I was lvling rdm. New area so much nicer to lvl in then cape terror, and labytinth of paralyzed hell. Now just have to worry about birds stealling your food.

That was absoluty, hands-down one of the best times I had playing FFXI.

I often reflect on how fun the game is at first. I enjoyed everything and had a lot of fun. However, a few months later I let the fun turn into a three year addiction. What I'd give to be able to re-live that first few months of playing FFXI.

I got the game around a month after it was NA released (sometime around xmas).

At the time, as far as i knew, i was one of very few australians playing the game.
Ive been on and off a couple of times, but i came back in full force once i realised WoW was a piece of shit lol

Any Australian Veterans out there still play?
