I'm leveling nin/war for fun while my static members are out of town. I got through the Dunes unscathed, partly by forming my own party and to a greater extent by luck. Now I arrive in Qufim as lv 19. I see another nin/war and a whm/blm seeking in about the right level range. The rest of the pickings are slim: no other mages, just some melee. I end up with nin/war X2, whm/blm, thf/mnk, and mnk/war x2. I accept my part of the blame for even starting this up....

But for God's sake people, if you accept the invite, stick it out for a real try. In front of D. Tower, the THF pulls one crab before we are ready. We haven't even set a voke order or SC, nor have I put up utsusemi. That's a big issue if you've played NIN/WAR before. I have to throw it up ASAP (which doesn't happen due to the long casting time), and now the 3 shadows are gone long before my recast is up. We get through it with a few bruises, but no real harm done. The parties' response: This is too hard, we need to fight worms by the lake. After one freaking pull.

So we go to the lake... and some of us get killed by Banshee's, of course. They want to camp on the ice in the center. Ok, exactly what I said would happen has happened. We get undead aggro, people die and drop pt. I replace them. We fight worms, people get worm aggro or links and die. They drop and I replace them. The party never has a full 6 people for the next hour or so. I don't blame them for leaving a "shit party". But consider this: I don't die through the whole thing. I don't aggro undead. I don't get worm links. I don't die and I'm fricking tanking. (And, no, they don't die from the mob I'm tanking.) The rank 10 mnk/war doesn't seem to have any trouble avoiding these little pitfalls either. Curious.

Eventually, I hit level 20 and get enough new people to convince them to go to the tower zone to fight crabs. The original whm left long ago, we just have 5 members at this point. NIN/war x2, mnk/war, sam/war and smn/whm. Now comes the amazing part: these people actually stick around and wait for a 6th member. We got a little xp killing time and some VT to even IT crabs while waiting. We finally get a whm, and the smn switched to DD mode (which actually wasn't too bad). Not having a blm really hurt the higher end of the xp chains, but we still managed to get about 6k xp in just over 1.5 hours.

So yeah, people... the party leader started the mess, but if you want him to clean it up you have to give him some time and a little patience.

Why were you even by the lake when it was nighttime? I've done a few parties at that lvl and everytime it's just running around in circles at the lake killing worms in the day then moving closer to a zone at night and I get in and out if Qufim in about 2.5-3 hours. Of course that's when I can finally convince a party to try and do this style of fighting. That's a different story all together.

awesome story. not quite a flame, but it is nice to hear something good about qufim every once in a while. i think all the people that dont learn patience like the kind you had will not make it past 50 until they do.

Belive me, I didn't want to be there. However, I don't/can't force all the details just because I'm party leader. Everyone else thought this would be a great idea, and I could either go with or leave the party alnd let them go without me.

Random party member,"Hey the lake isn't camped."
Me,"That's because it's 11:23 and the undead are walking. That place equals death."
RPM,"Lets get that camp."
Me,"Just don't ask me to find you a raise."/sit and wait for them all to die.
Me,"ok I'm disbanding now."

That scenerio actually happend to me once. The funny thing is that some people wont party with me because I'm only rank 4. Yet this guy was rank 6? I thought that you were better with a higher rank?

I Dont have a promblem with the lake, actually i perfer it up to 21, the stuff there spawns quick and the banshee arent to bad if you know what to do, most of the time a higher lvl will come though and wipe them out for us (I do it sometimes when i am bored). about 21 i head to D tower and fight goblins untill 23 and then to pug ally for 24 and 25. I never have a problem and make it out pretty fast, i actually like Quifm i have taking 8 jobs through it.

I agree I fuckin hate ppl that have no patience when im settin up pts i hate it when I see a seeking whm that wont join unless you have a full pt or most members. Or I get melee that leave cuz I dont have a healer. But to stay on topic I thinkalot more ppl need more patience in the set up and the start of a party if theres a "different type" set up. Ive had some pretty wierd pt set ups and suprisingly when ppl are patient and allow the ldr to work things out they ended up work out prett well. But thats what sucks about being certain melee jobs the mages get pts alot easier than us so I end up haviin to nake my pts alot more and deal with impatient mages
