We have extended the roles of our current moderators to most of the popular boards. Here is a list of our moderators and which boards they cover:

Audino - Dynamis Scheduling, Event Scheduling, Music Section & Sports Section

Isollde - Fan Works

Morwen - End-Game Discussions, Good Times & Linkshell Recruiting

Myrrh - Meet & Greet, End-Game Discussions, Good Times, Auction House & Crafters Corner

RaidrX - Everything Anime & All the video game forums

Taurothar - General FFXI Discussions, Movies & Television Galore, Quests - Missions - Guides, The Lounge & Reality Sinks In...

The global mods will stay current and I don't think we've had any admin changes. >.o *pokes Arc and Reeve* Yup...still there!

Regards,

Mir

How am I not end-game discussion yet...

You'll always be the AH&CC mod to me.

Anyway...I really feel for the FF forums you should take a look at the posting history in that forum.

Do a simple test, check the amount of views when people post in certain areas, the amount of viewers jumps when certain names post in certain forums.

Popularity = more views = more popularity for the site. Having someone who's experienced all facets of the topics would understand when something is a joke, and when something is a flamebait. You can't have a discerning view when you haven't personally experienced the forum in question.

Edit: Since I never make claims without proof, first here's Myrrh's posting history in EG discussion

Not too bad, but still, not someone who frequents this part of the forum.

The travesty is here:

As I've said via Private responses, are you kidding me?

I'd disagree, that "not experiencing all facets of a forum" would give one a completely objective view to discern joke vs. flamebait, etc.

I mean, City Councilmen, Mayors, Congressmen, etc. get elected all the time to make decisions for need-based housing and the like, when most of them have never actually lived on those premises themselves.

The mods for the forums will be following rules that will be approved by Admins/Global Mods and moving threads that don't belong. It isn't like they will be banning, giving infractions, or anything else.

What's there to be kidding about? They don't need to have a huge post history, they just need to keep an eye on the forums. Whether or not that eye speaks out or is silent is up to their discretion.

Oh, I don't know, look at your post history?

Yes, I would agree. A person would have to be familiar with the forum in which they're moderating as to be able to discern what is joke, what is not and what is general information or opinion that just might be communicated in an aggressive and/or harsh manner simply because thats the way a person speaks (read: types and/or communicates their intention via a message board).

A travesty? My, my, Jamal. I wasn't aware that you constantly monitor my actions on QCDN to see that I read End Game frequently. I'm glad you know that and know that I am familiar with the posters on that board and the way most of them handle things. I'm also relieved to know that you realize you are possibly the most polarizing person on that board with more outbursts than any of the people in immediate memory.

Surely, a person with such a history of confrontation with other members and such a tendancy for outbursts against the moderation staff would have been the best choice for being a person with the power to edit, move and completely get rid of posts.

I've been on this site for a long time. I've run other sites before this completely on my own, successful ones. The only thing I, as a moderater, really need to know are the guidelines of the rules and what breaks them. I don't need to be knee-deep in the discussion as long as I can do my best to moderate each thread and keep an eye on the ones that look as if they're going to turn into a problem. To moderate on the EndGame Discussion board, does not mean I have to be standing on one side of the field beating my shield and screaming at the opposition while waving my spear. That, is ridiculous.

This wasn't a discussion for who should be the mods, this is an announcement saying who WILL be modding. If there are any problems, we'll be confronting them as their term continues.

No need to discuss if they are qualified or not anymore. :) Try to keep things civil.

Congrats to all the rencent mod additions, I am sure you will all help make Qcdn a better place. :)

I have been keeping things civil. I've also noted my interest in this, and been asked to do favors by moderation.

Yes, it is a travesty that someone who doesn't know the ins and outs of endgame would be given the endgame discussion moderation tag.

If you want people to read the particular forums, have someone who knows them in and out.

As far as 'looking at my post history' everytime I've gotten moderated there's been a good reason for it. It was something that needed to be said, and ended up provoking change.

There SHOULD have been discussion beforehand as to who the new moderation responsibilities would be handed to.

There probably was. You just weren't consulted.

I was told Miros had no part in it. It was done by one person.

Oh and: I should have been consulted.

You have been extremely vocal about your distaste for a handful of QCDN members. While it is apparent to me that you've been doing well biting your tongue here and there, were I an admin, I would still be concerned that you would beat someone over the head with the ban hammer. No, completely demolish their asshole while sodomizing them with the ban hammer. By someone, I mean those individuals who you have expressed your poor opinion of for their, well, unique commentary.

The point of a moderator is to make sure people are following the rules, not to ensure accuracy of posts. I know you have a lot of really good knowledge about most aspects of the game; you take time to research and you can, most importantly, think. You don't have to have that knowledge, though, to determine whether or not something is flamebait or spam or the topic belongs in another area.

Yes, you do actually need that knowledge. And no, I wouldn't have banning rights anyway with this level of moderation stats.

People who dislike me have risen to power in the site while flexing their muscle to give me reprimands for posts that didn't deserve it.

All the pretty colors and icons are great, but you do need substance in the site to earn respect in a community. Endgame discussion is the ONE place where there actually is a few good threads that are useful. I think the fact that certain people wouldn't post there for the fact that they may look stupid in my eyes would do more benefit to the site than anything has recently.

Yes, you do actually need that knowledge.

Why? Please explain; I'd like to better understand your perspective on this.
