Organizational Updates - Moderators

Oh and: I should have been consulted.

I'm more interested to hear reasoning on this.

Last I checked, everyone rails on Reeve since he's the site owner, or on Arc and Miros since they are Administrators.

As you are neither owner nor operator of the site, I fail to see why you, let alone anyone not owner/operator, needed to be consulted before making these decisions.

Why? Please explain; I'd like to better understand your perspective on this.

Having a historical perspective on the fafnir camping for example. Value of drops from HNM give you a very vivid picture of who is actually saying things just to flame (aka pchan) and who is saying things because they're legit (Caerloc).

Seriously, this doesn't concern good times or your rate-up circles. This is actually FFXI related. Being that I've participated in more valid END-GAME discussions, had one of the most popular topics that board has ever seen, AND spent more time in Aery then most people have been ingame, this would be a valid time to consult me.

You still are just a user on the site in the end...there was no reason to consult you, or anyone else outside the admin/global admin circle. It's no offense, it's just the truth.

Who mentioned anything that has time and again been proven to be bullshit (on both sides, might I add?)

Either way, you danced around the question rather than answer. This isn't FFXI-related, it's QCDN forum moderation-related.

I'd be willing to bet that you aren't a moderator for the exact same reasons that I'm not, Linhjah's not, Silenus isn't, or anyone else with a non-colored name isn't.

We weren't chosen, so we're not.

There's no reason for you to be asking me for help on the site then either, is there. Asking me to give you valid reasoning why people don't like a certain 3 individuals, citing proof.

You always have the power to say "no", and to expect anything in return for your given assistance is selfish to begin with.

Even with zero knowledge, you can generally gauge the intentions of posts by other users' responses. It isn't like anyone who is in the role could feasibly catch every post real-time; the likelihood of a mod with zero knowledge making that mistake is minimal IMO.

Bottom line is I don't think your posting here is going to change things, not this time. I'm sorry you feel slighted about the situation, but, if you really have a desire to become part of the moderation staff, I don't think that this thread is helping your cause. And, if you no longer desire to be part of that team, then why focus on it?

This IS a FFXI forum.

The forum has gone very far away from actual FFXI moderation, choosing to instead be 'prettied up', colorful, and cater to a wider userbase.

I Believe that this was an opportunity by moderation to actually take a look at a person who facilitates the FFXI side of the operation. So yes, this is a FFXI issue.

2/3 of the admins for the site don't play the game, the other does sparingly. A strong FFXI voice is needed.

Wrong.

This is what Miros asked for help in. He couldn't understand how Pchan's posts were flamebaits, and why people got so upset with Hellstorms posts.

At its core, yes. Thank you for stating an established fact, one driven home by the large "FFXI Final Fantasy XI Quetzalcoatl Daily News" tag at the top of window bar.

However, incorrect. The site has not gone away from any FFXI moderation, but has expanded its FFXI moderation to other facets of gaming - be it Nintendo/PS/Xbox or WoW/AoC, to other General chat areas built to expand interests and used largely by those who are retired from FFXI.

So far I checked, only one of the admins (the owner of the site) doesn't play FFXI. A strong FFXI voice is already established here, it's just that the voice isn't boisterous by any stretch of the imagination.

Yes, it has. The expansion has diminished the actual level of FFXI involvement. This is why others choose to go for information elsewhere.

Arc hasn't played in months. A strong FFXI presence is not here. A strong 'FFXI Culture' presence is. We have a ton of buns and fixings, but no meat.

Do you feel that Morwen and/or Myrrh will not be able to understand? Because I don't have near the end game experience (or even use of the end game forum - I prefer off topic), and I don't need you to explain further about Pchan or Hellstorm. (No slight intended, Miros, in case it was coming across that way.)

If by elsewhere you mean bluegartr, the wiki, somepage, or any other of the umpty-squat number of sites that are available for information, those sites have always been a cornucopia of information regarding this game.

If you mean any other community forums, I'll just take note that the Quetzalcoatl community forum on Alla and on KI are still as dead as ever, being "taken over" by the members from Cerberus or Pandemonium.

What Arctyrael does or plays isn't any of my concern. A strong FFXI Culture presence *is* a strong FFXI presence, whether you wish to admit it or not. This is a Server Community forum, not a come-one, come-all from every server Community Forum. Although we have users that have either migrated off our server, or are on other servers considering migrating to ours, we are still the Quetzalcoatl Community forum. That means from the lowliest of users just introducing themselves to the game (read: Meet and Greet), to the "battle-hardened" endgamers.

We do always value users opinions, but this subject is not up for debate. The decision is ours to decide who will take what position on this site. The help I asked you for Jamal was nothing that I haven't asked anyone else. I requested that you report posts that users that you felt were a bother and a nuisance so that we could see what they were doing and take action. I also requested that you not quote them after you reported the post and respond - which in turn would cause further flamebaiting.

I thought that we were speaking one on one but yet again you have decided to bring conversations that are either private or outside of QCDN into the situation.

Again, the choice is ours, not yours. We are not going to sit back and wait for you to accept this. What you do need to accept is that Morwen will be the one keeping an eye on that forum, as well as Myrrh. There won't be much change to the forum...just the watchful eyes.

This topic is being locked since it is not up for debate.
