This movie looks awesome, and I'm dying to see it but it's not in my area yet. It's in limited release currently and they are holding like a vote online to have it wide released: If they reach 1 million demands from people to have the movie shown in their town, then they will release it nationwide.

If you're into scary movies, check this trailer out and demand for it to be shown in your town. They're at like 700k+ votes at the moment...

I saw a post for this on a popular internet forum I won't name. I love paranormal stuff but I don't know, this trailer just doesn't do it for me. It feels kinda like Blair Witch Project, only we already know this one isn't "real." Part of what made me excited to see BWP was that it was "found footage" and the notion of seeing real supernatural activity seemed so cool...

Paranormal Activity just seems to be trying to cash in on that. I've seen my share of shaky cameras, or things moving, or ghostly whispers/shouting/what have you. Its hard for me to get excited for an obviously-marketed movie. Whether or not the 700k+ votes are legit or not, I wouldn't be surprised for this thing to get a worldwide release regardless. See how drummed up this suspense is to get it launched in cities? People are all "Zomg, vote and bring it here!" and they tell their friends and this continues. Its basically reserving tickets the longer they don't release it.

Anyway, I'm rambling, but yeah, looks interesting, too bad its obviously being marketed to be shocking. Without the hype or online viral campaign (sorta viral, kind of, maybe) I'd probably be more interested, but this just feels forced.

Its spooky! Its creepy! Watch these test screeners lose their shit! Now vote here so we can release it! Like they're not going to cash in on it no matter what...

All of this said, I'll probably see it anyway. I'm a sucker for spooky stuff, forced or not.

i plan on seeing this soon, if its anything like Death of a Ghost hunter, ill be happy, though im expecting a little bit more scare factor in this one.

With DVR and TiVo out there these days, a lot of people fast forward through commercials now. If they're using this method of advertising as a way to hype their movie, I say good for them for finding another way to grab the attention of the movie-going public.

It could be completely a pile of bullshit scam in marketing, but I don't really care, I still want to see it. Even if it's only a mildly veiled ruse to get people to spread the word, it still looks worth checking out. I certainly wouldn't knock it before actually seeing it.

I wanna see it. I love spooky stuff. Like Lyall said, forced or not.

I went and voted for my area. I really hope I can see it in theaters. From what I've read/seen it's suppose to be like BWP only really scary. I love creepy shit anyway lol, specially when it's done right.

It's hit 1 million votes, and opening nationwide on October 16th, a full listing of theaters it's going to be playing at will be available at 5 PST on October 13th.

Just saw it tonight. It was an amazing movie up until the end. It was still great, but it got a little too "excorcism of emily rose"ish for me.

Just to add in, i probably won't be sleeping for the next few nights after seeing it, and i don't get freaked easily.

Must see this. What age rating did it get given?

Rated R for extreme language.

Gotta go watch this, no scary movie as of late has made me jump outta my seat, and I was told this one made more than half the theater jump. =D

Yeah. It doesn't even have jumpy scares. Hardly anything really jumps out at you until the very end, which makes me even more happy, because i hate movies that just use things popping out at you suddenly to scare you.

Overheard a pair of girls at lunch today talking about the movie; One of them was saying how dramatic and tense the whole thing is right up until the end.

I need to go see it.

Just got back from seeing this, And i will say i am, and am not disappointed.
Im disappointed in the fact i was led to believe i would be scared out of my mind and jumping most of the movie, when in reality it was only about 4 or 5 times, and not as noteworthy of a scare fest as i imagined.
But, its still a good movie. it sticks with you, it freaks you it, it makes you constantly say "What the fuck!?"
I deal with the paranormal field daily, so it didnt affect me like most people, but it still gave me chills, and i honestly have never been to a packed theatre to see a movie and have it be completely silent during most of the movie, and then when it ended it was still an eerie silence.
I heard murmers as we walked out from other people with the "are you serious" remark to how it abruptly ended, then moments later the same people would say "but seriously...what the fuck that was messed up"

This my friends, is a great low budget movie. It seems so real, that it takes a moment to set in when its all over, and it will have you constantly recalling all the events that take place.

I really wanna see this movie looks scary as hell cant wait!

Some girl puked in the movie theatre i was in, we noticed it on the way out all over the garbage can (Hell, it couldve been a guy im just guessing)

Anyway, I think i missed something i thought this movie was "Whatever", im no macho tough guy but i didnt find myself getting scared, and didnt think this compared to seeing the excorcist for the first time. I didnt know why people were freaking out so much, i thought this movie was pretty predictable and not as scary as i hoped. For those planning on seeing it tho, i still recommend you should because im definitely the minority on this opinion.

One of my friends went to see it, he's seen it 5 times and still gets scared. I wanna go see it. T_T

I dont see how someone gets scared even watching it once, it is a mindfuck, but i didnt think it to be all that scary at all, it just tends to draw you in and you start to feel for the characters and that makes it feel a little more real, but i really only jumped toward the end, and barely.
I will still purchase this when it comes to disc as i found it to be a great movie that took a chance and delivered. Its not your basic idea for a movie and it tests your patience and keeps you involved.
Ive heard many people say it was trash because of that, but they must not be looking at it the way it was meant.
