Hey there. My first born is really progressing as far her developmental milestones! As of late she is half standing/half crawling. I embedded a video so you can see what I mean.

Anyone see this before? My mom said it's normal, but it just looks weird to me lol. She might be walking soon, yes?

Thanks for listening and for the comments in advance. ^^

How cute lol. I'm pretty sure it's normal and it's close to walking time. I've seen it before, even though I don't have kids of my own I've been around a lot of kids due to my huge family.

It would be great if she can walk before Christmas. Would love to have on video walking around and opening her gifts, lol

From what I recall, yeah, that's a not-uncommon method of movement. Walking could indeed be right around the corner, but kids vary significantly lol.

How old is she steve? 16+ months? If so, then shes at just the right age, a little more encouragement and practice, and you might just get that wish. Be careful not to push too hard or she might have one fall too many and lose heart LOL.

11 months on the 22nd.

Then shes slightly ahead, but still fairly young to be walking without support. All in all, kids develop differently based on their genetic make up and how much experience they get in performing a specific task. Keep her on a walker, make her build some muscle in those baby legs, and she will be taking steps on her own in no time.

Hexx answered exactly what I was going to say. I have no children of my own but I have assisted in the upbringing of many of my cousins and nephews. That's a pretty typical precursor to walking.

I watched it twice because she's just too cute XD

This! I dunno how the hell to upload video or I'd put up a few of mine walkin around when she was about 13mos old. Another way to get her to build confidence, is put tables and such for her to use as support to walk around areas that she plays. That way she has stuff to grab onto for support and will have things to aim for when taking steps and such (nothing with pointed edges tho).

My daughter would get up by grabbing onto the couch, then taking a few steps towards the coffee table, then towards an endtable or towards me or her grandparents. As she gained confidence, we moved the coffee table farther from the couch so she could traverse a longer distance without support. Worked like a charm =)

Awesome idea. I am just too scared of her falling on her face, but a few bumps and scratches is what makes us learn - sort of like riding a bike eh? Lol.

Yeah, its painful to us as parents too, but its why we gotta keep an eye out and be ready to catch them, just in case ^^b

She is a cutie! It is possible she may be walking soon, but don't get your hopes up. Kids do weird stuff, sometimes for no discernible reason. It may mean she's getting ready to walk, it may be that she's just found a new way to move. Hell, she may decide that she really likes spider-crawling and be a late walker.

She looks very healthy and happy, which means she'll go when she's ready.

It could just be her way of crawling. Whether or not she's about to start walking will probably have little to do with this, my son walked at 8.5 months unaided, and could kick a ball by 11 months. He's now 11, and all he does is sit on his ass and play video games, but hey

LOL wonder who he learned that from ;)

ok DO NOT use walkers. It actually retards their learning to walk. It DOES NOT build muscles. It actually can cause the leg bones to deform. This happened to my best friend's daughter. The kid will walk when she is ready. That crawl she is doing is what will build her muscles for walking and it KEY to deelopment. My youngest was walking at 11 months. He runs jumps and climbs up things at 13 months. My 3 year old could climb up objects at 6 months. and was walking about 10 months. My 2nd kid was walking at 8 months. Eldest walked at 11 months. Each child learns different and will progress in their own way. IF they fall it is ok, they will learn how to balance and to catch themselves. Personally I think that spider walk is cute. But that is a mommy view.

None of mine kids crawled that way but I really wouldn't worry about the way she crawls. Try to focus on her walking while holding on to objects (thats what my 11 month old does now) and I'm sure she'll be fine.

It's very easy to get hung up on quirky behavior but try not to worry unless you have a reason too.

Good Luck.

Thats awesome man! She looks like shes ready to start using things to balance and pull herself up with soon!

When my daughter first stood up for the first time she scared the shit out of me, she was next to me in the play pen laying down while i was at the computer, i turned to check on her and she was holding on to the railing staring at me, i jumped so damn hard haha!
She began standing and starting to walk around 12 months actually so she was pretty far ahead, she talks like a 20 year old in a 4 year olds body now, shes far to advanced for me to even imagine, proud of her.

My son on the other hand didnt start walking till after he was 2 and he still doesnt talk very clear at age 3, my daughter was speaking clearly before age 2.
