But I would avoid the chigoes. While you can just use a JA to instant kill um, if you get hit with a plague as a non-caster, you're not getting a chance to rest til it wears. Could cost you alot of time.
The single best way to lvl up parrying is to use a relic weapon (999 delay, 1 damage) against chigoes and subbing RDM. However, once you've capped parrying for Chigoes, you'll need to go after stronger things, so then earth staff would probably be better, with someone backup healing you.
Plague doesn't cause any damage to HP, so what would that have to do with preventing the use of /heal?
Edit: Nevermind, you got the status mixed up. Disease and Plague aren't the same thing. Disease prevents recovery. Plague drains MP and TP.
Just engage a completely different target, while keeping your skill up mob directly infront of you. This also prevents giving the mob you're using 21% TP every time you do swing with a relic weapon.
nope no need to be engaged. this works for guard also.
You do need to be engaged, only shield you don't need to be engaged, but I'm not sure if you can be engaged with another mob
I can verify that this works, I've recieved skill-ups in both Parrying and Shield as RDM75/BLU37 outside of Nashmau with Chigoes, while engaged to one of the other random mobs in the area.Just engage a completely different target, while keeping your skill up mob directly infront of you. This also prevents giving the mob you're using 21% TP every time you do swing with a relic weapon.
Oh I took hits with boxers and evasion torque on, I would let shadows fall and get smacked a couple times if we had adequate healing. The difference between +17 skill and base skill is dramatic on skill up rate. While leveling evasion on THF, I noticed I recieved more skill ups when I took hits versus evading hits. That's why removing the boxer's mantle improved skill ups and also why you cannot apply the same logic to parry since you actually need a parry to occur in order to skill up. Skill and AGI will both increase the rate at which you actually parry an attack so one would think adding both would increase the rate of skill ups.
The Maat theory is completely and 100% false.
Seriously, what the hell is the point of those? Why would anyone want -10 AGI/DEX?
i could swear you have to evade an attack to get evasion skill up, but i can't remember right, it was long time ago.
The Maat theory is completely and 100% false.
I always thought you could parry with offhand, since a lot of people say NIN or /NIN get the parry parry skillups...hm.
Nin has a very high base agility, and good parrying skill, therefore they get very good parrying chance
I'll share my info on parrying skill ups. A lot of things have been said already but let me add this:
It is rumored that 2xhands increase skillups, but i think this rumors comes from SAM getting faster skills ups,
but this is actually due to their low evasion.
