party non-aht urghan

Eh, the only reason why the repops are "faster" is because the good aht urghan camps are outdoors. The only outdoor camps in oldworld at 75 are the Moongates(Not great at 75, imo,) Uleguerand Range, and Lufaise Meadows(Awful Mobs.)QUOTE]

Lufaise Meadows thf onry!

I'd have to disagree with this for ninja's, since colbiri seem designed against them. Triple attack, stealing food and TP, on top of being resistant to magic makes them a pain to tank. Maybe I was missing something, but melee damage wasn't enough to hold hate, nor was spamming the wheel; so for nin's I'd say old zones are better.

I've only fought the lesser cobroli so far but they're actually pretty easy to me.
the only move thats even remotely worth noticing is pecking flurry(takes off 4 shadows).

Abraxas hit kinda hard. Cobroli hit weak. When a cobroli knocks shadows down youre pretty safe. when an abraxas knocks shadows down you gotta pray they get back up in time to live(abraxas hit my thf for about 300ish a hiti think). It's pretty easy to maintain shadows vs a cobroli until pecking flurry hits at a bad time. Having your shadows shot down on a cobroli is semi rare. Vs abraxs it happens 1-2 times a fight just from aoe and you gotta maintain shadows from regular hits.
To summarize. the anti shadow repetoire for an abraxas is literally every tp move while for cobroli its a 1/4 chance of something that wont even hurt much.
rule#1 dont use sushi vs them if youre tank. Since they arent that tough to blinktank in my experience(experience may vary) the whole cobroli are accurate as hell thing might have more to do with em stealing a sushi from a dd or yourself and getting that acc bonus to use against you.
Mithkabobs and other cheap foods like seis kebabi are good since theyre more replacable and the best levels to fight cobroli are when theyre vt ect.the fact that +atk on the monster doesnt matter if the monster aint hitting you is good too if you wanna keep food on no matter what.
Thieves shine vs these if you setup decently.(unrestricted by the whole it's stealing my food thing so they can use food to do great damage while other jobs may make do without food if they grab hate enough)(this also assumes you dont find a retarded thf which I've found is sadly quite rare while playing my other jobs)

I had a good thf(ugotjacked) with me nearly my whole time fighting these in my cobroli levels so that might be why I consider them the easiest exp to get at 55-59. I can definetly attest that they are easy to evade though when the required ninja enfeebles are being used.

Another reason NIN sucks in Lufaise Meadows are rams. most WHMes suck at Stona, and thus, the NIN gets killed because he's petrified.

Another reason is the AoE HP down move. a NIN with 124 HP that later gets petrified is not a pretty sight.

I wasn't trying to compare Colbiri to greater birds, I'm not sure where you got that from; I was saying that Colbiri aren't easily tankable by ninja. I've exp'd off colbiri on two other jobs, I was well aware they stole food and brought mithkabobs with me since the AC was still lost and I couldn't buy any more sis kebabi. Stealing food wasn't even problem, the problem was I couldn't do enough damage to hold hate; although a thf would have definitely helped there. Unfortunately 90% of thf's suck, so that can't really be counted on. I was using the Ni enfeebles every fight, but was getting resisted almost every time(mages were no help); not even casting the elemental Ni that lowers resistance to my debuff spell worked.

With Lufaise Meadows you'll need a paladin to tank.

You don't need a PLD. PLD or a good blinker + support will do. Bad blinkers get killed quickly there though.

Also, to Ish's point, The birds will do AOE that strips all shadows, Triple attack, and sometimes rinse and repeat. A good blinker and support team would be able to handle 99.9% of it. A bad blinker will be able to handle maybe 25% of it. lol

Would love to see a PLD pull hate from a 2000+ Barrage when I get the joy of exping there. Just seems like dead weight.

But ranger is gimped zomg you're so lying.

Nin tank is fine in luffy, just that it has to be 75 with some merits.

I remember going there with a 73 ninja. He died 3 times in a little bit over 30 min, and I really felt bad for him coz I could tell he was a good nin. just that at 73 he just couldn't evade at all when his shadows are down.

Dead weight is when you pull hate as a rng, dragging the mob away from the melee, and causing a huge MP sink (especially if you're /war)

The reason lufaise sucks to exp is that you'll fight 75% birds, minimum. Slashing weapons take a damage penalty vs Greater Birds. That means katanas, great katanas, great swords, scythes, axe, great axe, swords (except rapiers, the only one worth mentioning is joyeuse) all take a huge drop in damage vs most of your prey.

In Caedarva Mire, I could go without a main healer. I have done stretches where I was the lone healer as brd/nin after our healer dc'ed. One paeon is more than enough to keep up hp vs imps, and double paeon gives hp back faster than flies can aoe rape it away. Stuff dies fast even without minuet/march. You can't do the same in Lufaise, if your main healer hits a connection lag at a bad time someone ends up dead. You also won't break 10k/hr in Lufaise, which is what a decent mire party will pull if there's no competition.

"party non-aht urghan "

Where we all agree the Imps are supercool, we aren't talking about how great they are compared to old areas.
...Back on topic then.

Dead weight is dead weight no matter where you're partying.
Also, the people that party there either don't care about penalties or the jobs that suffer from them, benefit from piercing bonuses, or really just go to party and have fun. Nothing wrong with any of that.

I only goto lufaise as thf thf thf thf whm bard

or toss the odd rng for shits.

i noticed in the XP blog the you can party in uleg range... does anyone have any thoughts or comments on this area?? would it be a good spot for a rng like me?

Uleguerand Range is hot.

As a Ranger, you'll hate Aery Shield from the evil eyes though.

I've heard of Warriors wielding Dagger/Joyeuse and using Evisceration for Greater Birds, Ninjas wielding Dagger/Dagger, but I doubt that's very productive anyway.

A pld could keep hate in a rng cannon in Lufaise, but rngs would definently have to hold back.

Picking the proper setup must be #1 for Lufaise.

Thf, Drg, Rng, Pld, Rdm, and a Whm seems pretty optimal granted the melee can hold hate.

I loved Lufaise as DRG ^^

Tanking lesser/colbri is too ez as nin. Like some one mentioned, you only need to watch for pecking flurry. Snatch morsel isn't a problem either because the tank doesn't eat food, unless you like to waste gil. Use +enmity gear if you can not hold hate.

For op, try boyada tree or den of rancor or RU'Avitau or newton mov.

well there true sight taus that can cast doom. The eyes can not be silenced and petra lvl 5 you(meaning if you are a multiple of 5 ie: 75 you getting petrafied) Eye also have magic/arrow shields. Beside that the camp great kinda long walk though. recomend being atleast 73 possibly 74 there to benfit fully of the place a 73 might strugle.

lufaise with a thf or rng cannon is heaven. Then agian a rng or war cannon at the weapon camp in sky is heaven to, or a mnk cannon in KRT. though none can compare to the expansion. The small travel times, short spawn times, and easy kills, not to mension the sanction benifits when the astral candy blongs to us.

Anyone who actually manages to be hit with Mortal Ray with only 5 other people around deserves to be struck down by the doom effect =/ It's a Gaze TP move, not a spell, and one with more than enough ready time to turn around.
