PC WotG

Not sure if you know how the 360 works. For some reason (probably the work-around for Live), you need to have the disk in the system. Then it'll boot PlayOnline from there.
Yes, I assumed that's how it works, since PS3 works similar. But since its the same game, just on 1 disc instead of several, I'd assume it recognizes it as installed, rather then installing a new copy of it. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to install expansion packs, since those check if the game is already installed in order to install it.

I guess what it boils down too, is if it will boot off the new stand alone expansion disk. You would think that It would, cause like Uzor said, how could you even install the expansion if it doesn't boot into playonline? hmmm.. need some 360 owners who have gotten the expansion already to chime in..

Aye. At the very least, '08 should work as a boot disk, if not the expansion by itself (I mean, it works that way on the PS2 with CoP and ToAU disks).

ohhh ok. So the stand alone expansion disks for CoP and ToAU work as boot disks for the PS2 version? You'd think it would work the same with 360 then. I'll probably just buy the stand alone WoTG expansion, and hope it works for me as a new boot disk after I install it.

Weeellll here's the thing. On the PS2, while you can use the disks as boot disks, for the most part you can just start the PS2 without a disk and boot PlayOnline from the hard drive. So it's not exactly like the 360.
Doesn't mean that WotG disk won't work as a boot disk. They're just slightly different.

ahh ok.. >< Damnit, wish I didnt' need that damn disk in there to boot. Don't want to waste $20 more on the '08 Collection, if I can get the stand alone expansion to work as my new boot disk..

I don't think WoTG alone works as a boot disc. WoTG alone doesn't contain PlayOnline, it only contains the new WoTG data. So you'd need the PlayOnline disc to boot it still.

Iunno though, it might be different on Xbox360, but I'd assume you need the PlayOnline disc to boot it.

What's the problem with your boot disc though? scratches? Just turn go to GameStop or something and ask them to fix it. Won't cost you more then maybe 5 bucks at the most, and it'll make the disc look like new.

Yeah some scratches and scuff's on it. I get disk read errors for about the first ~20 or so times trying to start the game now. I'm not totally sure if it's just my 360 dying, or if it's a combination of the 360 and the old disk. I'm probably buying a new 360 today, and sending my old one in for repairs.

I'd hate to get a brand new 360, only to come home and try to boot the game with the old disk, and have the same read errors.. >< I'll just have to wing it I guess until someone who has installed it onto the 360 posts..

same issue as last time, lol

I don't get why SE can't just let us buy registration codes online...

Didn't this happen with ToAU too?
Open your games at the store kids, make sure you get that reg. code.
god, if I get it December 3rd rather then on Friday, and the code is missing, I'll be so pissed...

But then again, I'd be equally pissed either way, since I'm downloading the game itself atm...

so has anyone gotten there pc version with a registration code yet?

I just talked to dvdboxoffice.com's Live Chat, asking them to open the box and verify that the registration code is in there before shipping it... and added that I'd appreciate if they emailed me the code before they ship it... so if I'm lucky and they feel nice, then MAYBE I can play it on Friday.

Either way, hopefully I won't have to worry about there being no registration code.

Torrent started up on BG. get started on file sharing so that the torrent gets even faster.
