PCC vs Chiv. Chain

Discussing these two for nin, not a job using a ranged gear like rng itself.

10 acc

or 3str+5acc+store tp 1

I have both of these and we all know the glory of having a pcc, but I find myself scratching my head on why I would want to lose 3 str and store tp +1 for 5 more acc when I'm 8/8 katana merits and have o-hat macro'd in for ws for acc. Discuss on your thoughts and opinions...

I've always said chiv chain > pcc, but no one ever believes me lol. Probably because the pcc costs millions so people automatically think its better. But I generally dont have problems with accuracy, so im gunna take the +3 str and +1 store tp.

I guess you could hold unto both. If your having acc issues just pop on the pcc.

5 acc isnt going to make a lot of difference. Chiv chain is better, hands down.
 
Presuming you're using Jin most of the time, 4 hits including offhand?

I keep em both and gauge when and where they're needed. If I'm consistantly getting full or near full TP return on Rampage then I swap PCC out for CC during WS only. I'd still say keep PCC on during TP regardless of where you are, unless the mobs are T or less.
 
TP in PCC, WS in Breeze gorget. 5 accuracy is going to be more noticeable than 3 str and 1 store tp while TPing.

I'd take 30str+ any day of the week.
 
My real answer: I guess it depends on your other gear. My blu is maxed out in acc gear so I didn't lose much when I sold my pcc and bought my (2nd) chiv.chain.
 
i say both are pretty situational and probably good to have both.

-with a meat setup i would ws and tp in PCC

-for a normal sushi setup with whatever haste you have, tp in PCC and ws in CC
 
I've tried both, and I like PCA a lot more. NIN won't to that much more damage per hit with 3 STR (maybe 1-2), but if the 5 acc makes you just hit 1 extra hit in 20-30 then you'll make it up with the hit, and then have the bonus of the TP. Store TP +1 is really a joke and would not account for as much TP as you would gain on the extra hits with PCC.

This is for NIN by the way (who have no accuracy JA's). For jobs that do have Accuracy JA's this may be a different story.
 
If you're talking multi hit WS, accuracy. Nothing sucks more than missing half the hits =P, though you will see higher numbers with STR, if you generally miss a lot without acc gear, use the acc for more *consistent* multi hit WS.

I'm getting full tp return after ws with the chiv chain that I've been using for over a year now. I came accross the pcc due to one of my best friends boondocksaint quitting. I've moved gear in and out to test for best results and I'm finding that I'm landing all my swings on jin but I think I'm over doing the amount of acc for the ws. For instance I tried a session with shura body for jin and was getting consistant numbers, while using osode was giving a wide range of different ws dmg totals. Obviosly the att from the shura was what was keeping me constant where as in the osode has no att bonus other then the small amount from the +10 str. Right now I'm macro'ing in o-hat, keeping my sniper ring on, and a breeze gorget for ws. My concern is that I'm using too much acc gear versus str + att gear for ws. I'm getting all my tp back so I know I'm landing all my swing on jin with the chiv chain I've always used. So I'm thinking a pcc would just be over kill when I'm already landing all my swings. As for building tp, I've always done more then fine using chiv chain (plus I always use sushi, except on the evil sushi eating birds.) But in those parties I've always just kept my o-hat on, and acc is still great with a brd.

Smartass lol~!!! I edited my amazing chiv chain for 30 str. Leave it to a damn taru to point out a elv's failing.

Unless you are parsing 95-97% accuracy, 5 acc will always be better than 3 str and store tp. For tping that is. If you mean for was, use breeze gorget. If that's not an option that chiv chain is great.

Is PCC marginal? Yes, so if you are lacking for money and you have other gear that you need that will benefit you better (haubergeon, shura togi/head etc) sell it and get the gear that gives you the largest marginal difference.

I guess I'm trying to rationalize the value of acc. I mean is 5 more acc really worth 3-4 mil. The average player uses sushi so I'm just wondering if maybe 3 mil for 5 acc stacked with other acc gear and sushi isn't over kill. As for my gear

Tp Setup

Head - Turban
Neck - pcc
Body - Shura
Hands - dusk gloves
Lega - B.Haidate
Feet - Fuma
rings - wood + Jaeger
Back - Cerebus mantle
earrings - super. + brutal
ammo - bomb core
waist - potent belt

Thats around 35 acc alone not including the dex, also with 8/8 katana merits, 5/5 str, and 4/4 crit.

I think I'm wanting to add more str into the equation but not wanting to suffer the lose of acc is my main concern.
 
PCC is better than the chain for a simple reason. Lets say a person tp's in snipers with chiv chain. Now give the person a pcc.
This guy wants to have the same amount of acc as before with similar or higher strength. What's the solution? Quite simple. Buy a ruby or flame ring and wear the pcc.
You endup with more strength than a chiv chain gives you. The storetp+ 1 means jack until you stack it with more storetp gear aka the rajas. Even then storetp+1 still means nothing unless your tp ends up at 99.XXX% on a regular basis assuming your job doesnt attack twice a round with the first hit landing you over 100%.
Essentially the chiv chain can be beaten by a pcc before the chiv chain is even equippable since there are str+4hq rings already availiable at lv 54.

The only time in which a chiv chain might be better imo might be for a samurai that needs an extra little bit of storetp for thier tp setup or is sneaking in acc to go with thier ws since so many ws are 1 hit for them.
