I think she makes a good point.. people seem to get really upset with something like not having the BEST of the BEST equipment. I understand a player with the best equipment is gonna be a powerful player to have on the team but that gear can be really expensive >< remember that most of the best gear can cost millions upon millions of gil >< if you really want them to have the best gear as soon as possible you might as well tell em to buy gil or go back in time and get their synthesis up to 100... which (unless fisihing.. really..) will take lots of gil in itself. There's no reason to call someone a noob or be hurtful to em if you think their equipment sucks... I bet you didn't have the best of the equipment all of the time. Remember that making Gil in this game is significantly harder than in other Final Fantasies.. it's nice to suggest what equipment they should strive to go for but they might already know and are working towards it... I'm not really sure if I count this as a Flame but I dunno.. people just shouldn't be such assholes over gear >< (by the way.. no one has complained about my gear so this isn't me ranting about a personal experience XD just something I've noticed through-out the game...) anyways.. the idea of this game is to work together and help each other out so we all can become better and mostly to have fun (for SE it's to make money but ya XD)...not just bitch at each other over such trivial things....remember.. it is just a game.. nothing more

Yeah I agree, it's kind of weird to whine about gil sellers then turn around and complain about someone not having astral rings... Even now with everything going up in price, if you have good gear it justs brings that much more to the pt but long as you don't have gimped gear it's all good.

Yea but then that opens up an old topic...What defines gimp? The guy using +2 STR rings cuz he can't afford +3 ones? Or the guy using the entirely wrong equipment?

The only time you will ever hear me say gimp seriously is when someone wears equipment that is not helping them in any significant way(Like a WHM wearing VIT+ gear or something). Most people define gimp by anyone who doesn't have the best. I think as long as you are trying your best and using the best YOU can get, then no one has a place to complain. If you purposely half ass, that's a different story.

I can agree the the "leet" gear, but gear CAN tell you many things about the player. I mean if you dont know enough about your job to know what stat bonuses are helpful, how can you be good at your job? For example, seeing Blms wear RSE body (complete with -1int) or Nin's wearing +attk/- eva gear. Just, bleh!

An enjoyable and enlightening post. I couldn't agree more about the gear. This just enforces the fact that many people (including myself) just play this game for fun. I don't mean it's okay to show up to a party in a dream hat and your level 1 gear but cut some people some slack when they don't have the best gear available at any given level. Skilled players can play well despite not having all the +1 gear or NM type drops.

NIN need evasion gear ^^v that's one thing that makes em good tanks ^^v but if they wanna be a DD NIN than sure XD +att for them! but they should make that known about their preferance ^^ like someone who goes WAR might not wanna tank but rather be DD ^^v so they have DD Eqp and not tanking stuffu ^^ (This is for before lvl 30... WAR shouldn't really tank after that unless no NIN or PLD around since a PLD or NIN will make a better tank after 30 in my opinion)

I think I've decided...that I'm going to play my jobs, with the best gear, that's not unreasonable. That means Million gil items are out. But I will have, the absolute best that's underneat that, and much cheaper. If anyone has a problem, well, they can fuck themselves.

Yup thats the way to go and what I expect out of people. IE not the HQ elemental staves but to have the relevant ones.

It's only Taru RSE that sucks for BLM. And a NIN post 37 should use +attk IMO, it will help them hold hate if their ninjutsu just isnt cutting it.

I would define a gimp as a lvl 20+ SMN without all the avatars, it always pissess me off when I see this as I personally stopped leveling SMN until I got ALL the avatars. With the exception of Fenrir of course.

A WHM without Erase is not a gimp until lvl 45 or so, by then they should be able to grab it from a BCNM.

EHHH! Wrong! Male Hume RSE body has -1 int, not good for Blm, and I have seen Blm wear it. I dont usually check people either, so I dont know what other RSE does exactly, but male hume body stands out and is easily identifiable without checking. As far as Nin with +attk, (and this is just MY opinion) attk is fine, but -Eva just bugs me. It just seems to me that you save more hate by not being hit, (not to mention having your cast interupted causing whm to cure you tipping the hate scales even further) than you gain by +attk.

But anyway, nitpick my examples all you want, I will just leave it at people wear some really stupid gear and how can they be decent players if they dont even know NOT to use -vit gear as a Pld?

it's good if you wanna get the best of the best gear (something I'm working towards but most of that is rare/ex abjuration things and ya.. not easy ><) so there's nothing wrong with that.. but there's no way to turn to a complete ass if someone is wearing bad gear... if they are wearing gear bad for their job.. correct them in a kindly manner.. no need for a big argument to come up.. and if they get offended just be the bigger person and say you appologize for offending them but you were just trying to help.. it's that easy really ^^

About gear, I actually partied with a drg recently, and his gear was average, he was telling me had had accuracy problems, instead of laughing at him because he was using str+3 and agi+3 and that he said he would buy more agi, I instructed him that dex rings or snipers would be a better choice, i told him fluorites were a good choice and that snipers were a bit pricey. He ended up buy ing 1 grace ring that night.
