Ok people who search for a pty, the whole point of searching for a pty is that you need a party to exp or for other reasons, which means you want to join one. Well im sick and tired of people who have their pty sign up and get mad because no one has said anything to them before sending, it is stupid and pointless to complain, if you want to be asked for a pty then dont seek!!! People dont have time to play your little games of whinning cause you got a blind invite  So the point being is please dont put flag up unless you want to be invited to a party withought being asked!

It's called common courtesy. If you go into a singles bar, do you just whip Mr. Happy out and run around yelling "Take me! Take me!"

SE made search comments for a reason

I like being asked before an invite, and if its a blind invite from someone I'd like to party with again I accept, if not then I decline. I dont yell at them or anything like that.

-Ham

I never accept a blind invite. I think people should be curteous enough to ask first. If I get a blind invite though, I usually message the person and ask about the party etc. More often than not they don't respond...

My biggest reason for declining blind invites is because the person who is doing the blind inviting is usually new and ignorant of the game's ettiquette and possibly of the finer points of party building. I'm speaking from my experience only but usually when I accept a blind invite (when i actually would), the party would be some rediculous assortment of mismatched jobs that some rank 2 threw togeather in hopes it would produce some xp. More frequently these parties produce death, downtime, and less than 1k xp an hour.

So the reason I want you to send me a tell before inviting is because I want to be able to talk with you before I join. I will want to know your level range (so it's not some 5 level gap that is going to shoot the xp to shit). I'll want to know if you have a white mage to heal or if you're making do with a low level red mage galka. I'll want to know if the party has a tank or if it's a Warrior/White Mage who thinks he's a paladin. I'll want to know what the other party members are so that there's a good setup. Not 3 white mages and two thieves.

Yeah same as all the above ^^. Just a few things Id like to point out. War/Whm isnt as horrible as people make it out to be! I played with a good one in Nest at level 43ish. He actually held hate better than a lot of Pld I have played with.

Lastly, I will admit that I have blind invited people. You can get away with it a lot early on. The only times I would think of it are when you are in a low level zone and you see the PERFECT party setup seeking and dont want to risk losing one of them to a blind invite. I think we all know the situation.

Blind Invites: Personally, I hate getting blind invites. I would much rather get a tell first. Granted most of the time I will accept a blind invite anyway, but it's nice for people to have the courtesy to at least ask first. Even though it seems like i'm bashing Blind invites I do agree with Fae that sometimes they are very useful tools. I hate having a good player slip away from my grasp because someone else sent them a blind invite before I had a chance to send a tell.

WAR/WHM: At the risk of sounding like I fully support Fae (GO DN!!! <--shameless LS plug), WAR/WHMs or any other unconventional subjob are just that, Unconventional. It's really more the person playing the character that makes the difference. With a good player behind the wheel, so to speak, the sub hardly makes a difference. Granted there are a few exceptions such as PLD and NIN, but i've played with lots of good job combos like RDM/DRG (OMG you are thinking, but he was good so it was just as good as RDM/WHM -or- /BLM). In short, maybe just try the person out and see how they play, you may be surprised.

I would like a full debriefing before accepting an invite to a PT...

Player Names
Levels
Main Jobs and Subjobs

Then I consider joining.

I am questioning to join any low level party nowadays even if they have mentioned the job lines. Specially those who are waiting for replacements. I have seen too many people in the 30s with out dated (10+levels) gears. No it is NOT that hard to update it. If you got the time to seek, you surely have the time to farm. Sorry but comming to level 36 with a lizard jerkin + lvl 20 axe is simply not a member that I want to party with. I don't mind not having some unique expensive item such as ochiudo, or sniper rings for instance. But dear god not a sandorian ring at 36...

Blind invite is bad since you have no telling on what the group is going to be like. If you want to accept blind invite, expect a blind disband aswell.

I don't accept a blind invite on any job. After playing this game for over a year I now know it's well worth finding out info on the party then going into it and putting up with utter bs.

I was on my WHM today seeking because I simply forgot to set it to solo after I changed jobs from my pally. Some freak named AAndj (or something like that) sends me a /tell using the translator saying (English)(party)(Japanese)(summoner). First thing that came to mind was wtf is he talking about. I asked him if he spoke English and he replied yes. I then get an invite. I then figured he was asking me for a party and asked him out of curiosity what his pt was like, but declined the invite. He then goes into a rage saying I'm a stuck up WHM...I asked him why I am a stuck up WHM, he replied with something stupid (I forget what) so I called him ignorant. He then says something about telling his 70+ LS to blist me or something, so I then called him a noob. He was probably smashing his keyboard by then cause he then said "you're a pussy, tell me where you live" ROFL. So now the retard wants to beat me up in RL.

You know you play this game too much when you want to hunt people down in RL because they won't join your FFXI party.

Ha ha Cecilx thats great... Two things, first yea WHMs and "high demand" jobs in particular get a bad reputation when we try to weed out the fruitless invites.

But my second comment is this. It can take hours to get a real party going post 50. I do not want an invite unless I know there is a solid party foundation (IE having a PLD/NIN/RNG/BLM or RDM) already. If someone just invites me I decline out of habbit, it is amazing how many invites from beggers you will get as a WHM... If you do not want me to tell me the party setup before I acept an invite... Well that means you are hiding something and do not want to be asociated with it. Some people bitch about not getting the entire party lineup in the first /tell, those people are a lil anul I think but I do want to hear what this party has and why I should think that this will not be a total waste of my time.

I ALWAYS reject a blind invite. My reason? Whenever I am leveling a pre-40 job, my search comment always reads, "Please, no blind Invite". If you cant read a search comment, I really dont want to party with you.

most people know what my bazaar comment and my search comment usually is...however, they always seem to amaze me and not realize that i dont want a blind invite

"no blind invites you noob!"

I never take blind invites, due to all of the reasons already stated, I am however guilty of blind inviting my friends. =P

I'll take a blind invite...BUT, given the lack of traditional courtesies, if I feel like leaving after I find out what the party is like, I won't bother with any courtesies on my end either. A simple, "This isn't what I was looking for." is plenty good enough.

I'll send a /tell, followed by an invite sometimes, but never just an invite.

If you don't want to accept, then don't. No biggie.

Uh, because we don't want to be invited by total retards.

If I get a blind invite, I'll join long enough to see the PT makeup. If it's acceptable, I'll give it a whirl.

HOWEVER, blind invites are usually the sign of a PT full of idiots, and I'll leave. How hard is it to send a tell first?

i wil never accept a blind invite, same reasons as everyone else. why do blind inviters say it takes too "long" to invite properly?
my invites always go liike this:

NA player:

<hello!> Would you like to join my party in <place>?

if they ask ill saythe jobs and lvls

JP player:
<Hello!> <Invite to join party?> <place> >> <party> <fun> + <excitement> ^^*b

yes the JP one is long,. but you would be surprised how its easy to cinvice a JP to join with a nice and proper invite.

asking a person is a courtesy in this game....yes they have their pt flag up and they want to pt. i had my flag up for a lvl 60ish job wherever the hell i was farming, and i had a low lvl gil farmer keep inviting me to annoy me....
point being...when a person invites the person that you invite usually checks to see the job and leveler of the inviter. also, people that prefer nin tank or pld tank or vice versa typically ask what kind of tank do u have or if you have a whm.
