People who afk in front of Mog Houses (def whitegate)...

That's strange...I have zero issues in Jeuno.

That was his point... hence the "it doesn't matter if your connection is 56k or dsl".

Either way, yes. I do hate it. my connection is 10 Mbit/s. SE limited the connection though so it doesn't matter all that much what your connection is in order to stop people with faster connections to have an advantage.

Personally, I just check my delivery box etc. in al zahbi. Much less lag.

SE needs to have a thing where it d/cs you if you go afk for more then 20mins in towns >.>
Actually if you go to Config >> Global you can do that. Of course, most everyone turns it off so they can go afk and bazaar.

How about some god damn courtesy? If you MUST afk in front of the mog house (which is fucking rude enough) how about standing 2 feet to the left or right of the doorway so people don't have to plow through 10-20 fucking afkers to zone in and out.

I just check mine in Jeuno. Zero issues ^^

Get off 56k then,Or you gtfo.

Not all of us even have the luxury of being even able to get Cable or DSL. I live in the country, and unfortunately, there's only one service provider out here, and it's Bell. I don't know how many of you have dealt with Bell, but they suck. And because they're the only ones out here, they have a monopoly over the services. They don't think it's worth the money to bring high speed or cable to the small town, and the many houses around the town and in the country side. The service is so bad out here, that we only get 24.l Kbps, and if your line goes out, or you have any problem with your phone, it'll take up to 5 days to get it fixed. Customer service is a joke with Bell Canada.

Yeah, it sucks being on 56k. I'd rather have cable or DSL, but I don't. So I deal. Doesn't mean I can't play FF just as effectively though. Pretty much the only thing annoying about playing on 56k is updating. The only lag I've ever had in nine months I've been playing has been very mild lag Jeuno.

This is true...but moreso, whether you use cable or 56k, you get bad lag in Aht Urghan. On PS2 I can get R0s ranging from 1-10s because Aht Urghan is just plain overcrowded. Think the only possible way to get around the lag is if you have a really good PC with a really, really good connection. And even then it may not work simply because of how FFXI is. =/

You can probably get a wireless aircard from one of the cell phone companies. They usually run $50-60 a month, but they will get you broadband. You can generally get the adapters for the service in both USB and PCMCIA versions. Anywhere you can get a cell phone signal through the provider (Cingular, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc), you can get on the internet wireless at DSL speeds.

If you go with the PCMCIA card, DLink actually makes two routers that will let you sport that as your main net connection at home so multiple computers can use it.

http://www.dlink.com/products/category.asp?cid=129&sec=0

You pretty much just plug the adapter into the PCMCIA slot and you're set. There's a USB slot on those routers, as well, but it's for attaching a PC to it via USB (instead of ethernet) and NOT for the USB version of the wireless card.

They do. We just turn it off. It is under Misc 2 maybe Global in your menu.

they just need change the place that you spawn when you come out of the mog house. May be put it up top or to the right side of the entrence. dont know why people put bazaar there anyone no one buys inside town do to the tax. Also who would pay 2500-3000 gil for silver coin(not including tax).

8MB line and still lags, so this statement fails.
And no, I dont need a better computer, the one I have is far above average, judging by peoples screenies /shrug...

Lower jeuno was bad in it's days of glory, but not once was the communications congested. Ever.

Mm, 56k limits the packets sent and received does it not? Or am i dumb?

You might not want an honest opinion on this question, so I'll just say that someone posted an answer already.

People made threads about something similar to this a year ago. I think they called it "Attention Whoring" or something like that...

I personally think people fall asleep and:

1- Die and their timer runs out.

2- Their teammates D2 them after an event (while they are still asleep after camping something for 5 hrs +).

This thread is pointless. If you don't like lag in Whitegate, then don't go to Whitegate.

I would spend a whole lot more time in Al Zhabi if all the NPC's I need were to be found there at all times.
And if they moved the stupid beseiged to Whitegate.
Or just go to Valkrum Dunes instead of Whitegate... yeah, why not.

So until both zones are exactly the same, your statement is what's pointless, I tell you that.

people are idiots. i only afk there when i get d2'd after an afk somewhere else and i didnt know i was d2'd.. lol

There is a lot less lag in Valkurm Dunes...you're right, why not go? ^^

Should not...I fuggen repeat, SHOULD NOT have to go to an entire new zone just to access my MH. IMO, it's crazy how you have to wait like zomg 10 minutes just to get stuff out of my delivery box, because of dumb people who likes to afk, and lag people out so much that you get the "Your connection is failing" message.

I'm gonna send SE some feedback about this. The unreasonable lag is getting old now. Stop AFK/Bazaar at MH, and GTFO to downs, or Suspension ftw! Ok, maybe not suspension, but that's how i feel heh :).
