I fucking hate people who say "Relax, it's just a game!" when I get pissed because they're being fucking idiots and wasting my time/food/exp/gil.

I invest time and effort into this game, and when they fuck around, it means that effort is wasted. :x

My general response to this asinine statement is "Okay, then, give me all your gil."

Usually, they say "Why?"

"It's just a game, it shouldn't matter so much to you."

THEM = TEH PWNED

Its just a game...no need to get mad about people saying its jst a game

I agree with Tyrion, whenever I play a game in which other humans are playing as well, I do take "professional pride" in playing the game to the fullest of my class (job) ability.

It is just a game, but that is no excuse for fucking up on a constant basis. You hear the same excuse in the real world quite often when it comes to volunteer work. They are always like; "Well, we don't get paid for this, so you will just have to wait/come again/get in line/suck it up/whatever".

Bullshit, either do the job right, or don't do it at all, because anything less than 100% is just a waste of everyone's time.

I think there are people who don't take the game seriously enough, like the thread complains about, and also people who take the game much too seriously. I agree that everyone should try to play their best, so that they aren't holding the rest of the party back. I disagree with people who think luxury items are necessary items. I also disagree with people who are too fast to throw out the term noob. There are too sides to this issue, and only those in the middle are right. Are you a total gimp? There are a lot of you. You're in the wrong. Are you an abnormally anal elitist? There are just as many of you as there are gimps. You're also wrong. That leaves about 1% of the population able to claim any high ground here. I myself have been both from time to time, sometimes simultaneously.

I hardly think I'm gimped for my level, but You can decide for yourself. I constantly use Apple Pies and Juices, I try to keep my spell list up to date (I'm missing one BAR and one EN spell for RDM, and a few BAR spells on WHM. I'm currently farming to get them.)

As for elitist, well, consider the stories that inspiried this post:

This is with my friend Fortresspalm, a good player (IMHO.) I try to PT with him as much as I can, because then I at least have one person I can count on. We're at the dunes (of course) fighring Gobs and we get an aggro. I yell ZONE and try to keep people alive so they can run - Fort does as does one of the other players, but the PT leader (A Bard named Morious - more on him later) says "We can take it."
Well, I'm almost out of MP and of course, from keeping his stupid ass alive with chain-cure 2, I draw aggro and die on the spot. He lives because the next party over came over and cured him. I homepoint 400exp in the hole.

So we move from Whitebone Sands to D-6 and we try to take another gob and a Ghoul aggros me. Everyone's in yellow, so I say that I'll take this death - ZONE and use benediction. I, of course, die - and they don't fucking run. They die this time.

Whats more, since I immediately went to my homepoint, he accuses me of running away and leaving them to die. :x

I call him a fucking dumbass, blist him, and disband. Did I mention that the main tank was wearing a brass harness at level 18?!

So, later on the same day, I join another party - yet another brass harness wearer at 18. I'm fairly convinced they were chinese gilsellers trying to level, because he had a level 20 WHM healing him from outside the party, and didnt speak very good english, and was just a shitty player in general - Peterli, if anyone cares. I got 2000xp in two hours (very bad, from my POV) with these douches.

These are the kind of people I get pissed at.

According to that link, you're wearing level 1 gear at level 17. And you complain about Brass Harness?

Also, White Mages can't wear Royal Footman's Gloves. Might want to fix that.

--Get a Justice Badge. They're cheap. (~1k) Or you can quest for it.
--Replace the Compound Eye Circlet with a Brass Hairpin. Also cheap.
--You don't need an Eremite's Ring as a WHM. Switch it out with another Saintly.
--The Lv.1 Slops and Clogs really need to get upgraded.
--A pair of Zealot's Mitts wouldn't hurt. They're really not that expensive for how useful they are.
--Do the Friar's Rope Quest.

Other than that, uh... Your earrings, wand and robe are alright?

Game? What the f are you talking about? I'm a mighty warrior...

Very nice job Nyahoho ... to elaborate further on the eremites ring ...

Eremites are for blm ... they need int ... whm need mnd ...

The people that say, "Relax, it's just a game" are usually the first to jump down your throat when something doesn't go exactly their way.

Fortresspalm a good player? Drugs are bad, mmkay.

I've PTd with this guy twice before he made it to my permanent blist. Maybe he's changed since, but when I PTd with him, he was being WHM/WAR. He's a Galka. This means he has like 3 MP. He didn't have any +MP gear, hardly ever healed, and insisted on meleeing. If anyone expressed any doubts about his job combination, or asked for more healing, or less meleeing, he'd start bitching them out and threaten to leave the party (oh no, big loss). When he was in his 20s, he joyfully informed us that it'd be great when he hit 25, because then he could start passing the hat for Raise. Another party member and I asked him why not just farm and buy it like everyone else--it's not that expensive. He didn't like to raise money. He just figured parties would want him to have Raise so they'd chip in for him to buy it. I left the party after that.

Good player my ass.

I think it was the "OMGZZZ" alongside the "remem" and "1", not to mention the complete lack of punctuation, that may have prompted those comments.

I remember that tard.. oh thats right I was in qufim playing with him and his lame ass whm/war galkan POS. I said nice job combos and said listen dont give me any shit about the jobs or ill leave.. I didnt give him the chance his dumbass got booted. I second the fact that hes a horrible player (at least when I pt'd with him maybe 1-2 months ago)

On the same token, I can not stand when you have a person in the party that keep trying to push the party to pull an exp chain 6. Yea after level 50, it really becomes needed but at level 30, it isn’t. I keep food with me, but unless we are able to do a high exp chain, costly food isn’t needed, and some times juice isn’t even needed. If the party is not setup right from the get go, no matter how much a person pushes for it, its going to get us killed more than what the extra 50 exp points is worth. Also if we are killing and pulling exp chain 3 on mobs giving us 150 to 172 exp before the bonus, moving up to 200 exp “IT”s isn’t worth it either.

Does any other mage cringe when they get an invite from a WAR or MNK, knowing you are more than likely going to be the only mage in the party. I don't have this problem so much with PLD or NIN.

*Hides his cesti's*

I was in a party with only one mage(WHM of course) and we did pretty good, because we had two WAR's, one RNG, one THF, and one SAM(me) for the melee. The damage was pretty good because we all used basically Mithkabob's, and the WAR's were using Great Axes, and we were Skillchaining. So having just one mage isn't that bad, but sometimes i guess it just won't work out that way. Just had to share that :P
