Ok, this is my first flame here. Now, it also deals mostly with noobs, gimps, idiots,of which I am aware people have many ways to deal with. In my case, 9/10 times I try to correct the problem, do my good deed for the day, help a person out. Now, let's use a sam/drk I ptied with a while ago as rdm in Gar as my first example. (not saying names)

Ok.. Being that my sam is 60, I decided to dish out a bit of advice, since he was rank 3 and I assumed he was a newb. (Never a Noob til proven a Noob. -_-) I tell him that war,thf, or rng would be better as sam sub, if for nothing else at least for the pt invites. Of course, he gives me that time held phrase of wisdom "I pay for this game so I can play the way I want, so fuck off. I can do what I want."(about those words of crap..listen, I payed for Final Fantasy X-2 but I can't get the girls to do some massive threesome for 10 hours straight so I guess that means I can't play the way I want, even tho I payed for that crap) and then of course he asks what the hell do I know. Someone commented on my rank 10, and which I just replied I just had my sam at 60 so I knew a little something about it, and was just trying to be helpful.(SO SUE ME. I Actually believed helping someone out would solve the noob/gimp problem a lot more then cussing them out and making fun of them would) He tells me he doesn't need my help, and that I'm a fucking liar. Why is it so hard to believe someone actually has a job higher then yours? -_- God...

Anyways, he gets pissed and goes off talking about snobby high levels who think they knew everything. I tell him dude WTF, this is why I'm seeing that high levels are so snobby to noobs. He tells the party "I'm sorry, but I don't play with elitist prick assholes who think they are better then everyone, later." And disbands from the pt. Now the pt gets pissed at me, and tells me I could of just kept my mouth shut. Throughout the whole pt they made cracks about it, like for the drk we got in replacment they would go "I'm surprised sanjo hasn't said something about the dark using war sub LOL. Thought he would say some crap about using blm or thf sb." Um, yeah, I left after a while, tho we even had some rank 7's and 5's in the pt and the pt was great in itself. Point is they were not really noobs job-wise. WTF tho, did I say so wrong? I try to help a guy out and I end up breaking him like a 12 year old girl.

Another case, I'm in crawler's nest pting with a smn/blm, me ending up healing because he was a "DD". He ended up being the SATA buddy for our theif, on which (already being pissed from our earlier argument about me or him being healer) I comment on and he gets pissed at me, then starts pulling because we want to sata onto our pld and he had to get hate somehow. At this point I get pissed, and tell him that he wasn't doing anything useful but wasting my mp fast as hell this way, and that it will eventually get us killed. Everyone else snapped, telling me to leave him alone, and that I shouldn't be bitching about someone else's job choice. They tell me I'm a gimped rdm, and I should pick up some astral rings because I'm always out of mp and the war has to alway shout out "HEAL ME". Hmm..... I wonder why? (I'm hume btw) They asked what crawled up my ass and why I was being so snobby. -_- He finally does the same, says sorry guys I don't want to upset Emperor(sp?) Sanjo anymore and warps out, after which they get pissed at me and kick me as well. Once again? Wtf did I do to warrant their anger AT ME? Yes, I started getting pissed and not being so polite after a while with the smn, but that was after he had long stopped doing so to me, and called me AGAIN a liar about my smn's lvl, saying I was just showing off /bragging AFTER HE asked me what level it was.

Ok, that's 2 cases, and it's been happening more and more, and -gasp- even now at higher levels sometimes. I'm leveling blm now for rdm sub @ level 30 and it's horrible.

Since when can people not take some critism? Since when is it wrong to offer advice? So should I start laughing and calling everyone noobs, calling them retarded fagots because someone is subbing drk, or someone else is has a ton of agi and evasion gear as drk.. instead of handing out advice?I don't want to just leave a pt because some war is subbing whm (I've been surprised on how many people actually have other subs ready to use but for some reason use something like whm -_-) when I can see the pt is basically a really nice setup and I've been lfg for hours. Of course, I risk having something that small waste my time or ruin/gimp the pt's potential if I say nothing, and if I do I run the chance of breaking some kid's dream of being warrior/white mage elite. Tell me, since when did people become so... fragile. Can't take someone giving advice without going off... or being hurt... boo hoo. I say FU sissies. Maybe if you listened or read a bit no one would have to say anything.

Mat stfu :P There is a difference from being gimped and being in a state of eternal poorness. I'll eventually get a serket and astral ring. ^^ If these frikin noobs don't drive me to the ground first. >.> I got 1 level blm this weekend while lfg all day, and that ironicaly was a jpn pt. Such fast xp... it evens out to a normal NA pt tho because they play for such a little amount of time. ; ;

I don't mind when high levels give me advice....as long as they have PLAYED my job before...and as long as they watch me play before assuming that I don't know my own job.

For instance. I was holding on to Blizzard 2 as my BLM for near a month....I was DYING to finally get to use it. Last night I hit level 42 - and smiled wide as my screen read "Jender's learns a new spell" then, IMMEDIATELY a party member (not a BLM) starts telling me how and when to use it. Without me even having gotten to cast it yet. >< PLEASE alteast give me the benefit of the doubt and TRUST that I will do my job well, and right - before passing judgement. If I am screwing up - BY ALL MEANS make suggestions - but don't assume I am a dumbass. I HATE that.

If people are playing as well as they could be playing and it's causing party performance to take a hit, I will tell them what they need to be doing.

The only time anyone has ever really gotten mad was in Qufim when I kept telling the monk he really doesn't need to use /p and <call> everytime he boosts (I said this many times) and the rdm went off saying the usual "I hate people that think they know everything."

I almost called someone out on using <call> in their refresh macro the other day, but they changed it to one of the quieter calls after a few mobs and it wasn't too bad.
 
I had a party in Qufim a bit like this. I was lvling my rdm and I believe the party setup was something like rdm,rdm,smn,drk,war,war. Smn was main healing and me and the other rdm backup healed while doing nukes.

The other rdm absolutely refused to heal, nuke, enfeeble... anything! I did all the enfeebles, all the nuking, and then they would get mad at me because I was always low on mp. I told the other rdm, politely, "Hey <rdm name here>, could you try not meleeing for a while? If you help nuke and whatnot it'll make the party run smoother." to which he quickly responded "STFU! I can do whatever I want." So he kept on hitting for 5 damage a hit. I didn't push the subject, because I knew he would continue to be an ass about it, but its that kind of ignorance that annoys me. He cant even listen to a piece of reasonable advice to help the party, hes more concerned with whacking away for crap damage.
 
Yeah, how ironic how people are like that. And then it bothers me when people say we are not helping solve the "noob" problem by making fun of them ect ect.. because I'm starting to see why it's easier to "shit them out" and hope the social shock makes them change. :D

Or at least quit. Sigh.

I believe you are speaking of "teh leet" RDM/NIN we see all too often...

I hate people like this. My good friend Jaredfromsubway (teh leet in terms of BLMs) always gave me criticism and I responded with nothign but "Aight, thanks" or "Yes Sensei Subway". He knew what he was talking about, I was lvl 18 BLM, he was lvl 60... I always get a party with a BLM when I'm leveling my WHM and when I suggest to the BLM I get a "STFU noob! Your only rank 3! WTF do you know?"
The other day I got cussed out for telling the BLM something has to have MP for Aspir to work... What the f*cking f*ck?!

hahaha i remember that first bout of ours sanjo.... i was soloing you until the rest of my party came in and raped the hell out of you.

round 2..... you ran cause you were low on HP.....
*tip* dont run from a thf that has Sneak Attack up^^

round 3..... the best battle by far... a true 1v1.... not fair that you can enf me and cure yourself...... was nice of one of my war allies came running in from the distance and gave you a rampage or something from behind. :P

Ballista is SERIOUS fun.... and by joining Sandoria in the next bout you joined the winning team.... good for you^^


Ah and doumoon.... i stole them 4 petras off ya right before you can score the point.... think i killed you a couple of times as well.... and you also managed to lure me into one hell of a beating by your comrades. I LOVE IT!!!!

Some people are just touchy over anything- regardless of whether you're giving them advice, or just making a simple request.

For example, the other day I was helping a friend do PLD AF1. I knew we'd be waiting a bit in Ordelles, so I came with a THF sub to farm saplings in the meantime. So I'm farming along, when one of my friend's other friends (who I didn't know) invites some friends of his, who even my PLD friend didn't know. So we've got these 2 total strangers coming along for no reason we can discern. One was a 37 WHM, I have no idea why she was there. They alliance with our group, and zone into the cave. As soon as they zone the WHM starts lotting on the seeds that I had been farming. From kills that happened before she was even in our group. -_- Osse asks her to please pass, as they were my kills. Then, all of a sudden I'm the bitch. After all, she needs seeds too. I explain to her that I'll happily pass on any that drop from her kills, but expect the same in return.

Next thing I know she's talking about how they should just go, because I was pissed off, and all sorts of crap like that. Um, no, I wasn't pissed off, I just wanted what was mine. I wasn't even going to make a big deal out of it, because she'd lotted way lower (heh) but Osse felt (rightfully) that it was rude. But apparently she couldn't take that sort of criticism, because we're such big meanie poopie heads or something. :roll:

Lotting, IMO and certainly as a general rule of thumb, should be kept to times specifically where one is looking for something in particular AND it was agreed upon. OR at least ask first.
The only time I don't mind lotting is when I am getting help, a favor, from someone and they are there to help me...They can take whatever they want! :)
But for people to say I do this craft or that craft, doesn't exactly cut it. Most of us craft. >< "I am an alchemist so I'll be lotting on the gobbie stuff, hope you don't mind" is not ASKING.
Just leave things as is, and let the chips fall as they may. Fair is fair, and you won't be stepping on people's toes and pissing them off.
 
This happens to me all the time. I might not be "high" level, but I understand jobs. I've played around with a lot of them, have talked with high levels on the best way to function in a party, etc.

So i'm in Valkurm Dunes leveling THF with a RL friend(he just started, and me and my friends are his Sensei's basically) and so I invite a BLM/None, I send a /tell Party? He says what is the party setup, so my first impression of him is good. So as we are partying, i'm noticing his method of attack.

NUKE! NUKE! NUKE!so now he has all the hate in the world. Finally we get it off him. I ask him to space out his nukes, because my friend can't hold hate like a god. and he replies:

"So? I nuke until i get hit, then i stop, it's simple."

I say: "Whatever, just remember, Provoke has a 30 second timer, and if the tank can't provoke after your chain nuking, then you're screwed."

He replies: "SO? What do u know! ur a friggin THF! u have never played BLM!"

Me: "Umm...My BLM is higher than yours"

My friend: "Dude man, listen to him, he's been playing this game for a lot longer than you, I take all the advice I can get!"

So I pull something because the other party member's want to get the exp. rolling.

So this fight, he chain nukes, dies, I laugh.

Me: "See? If you chain nuke, you'll die faster, if you space out your nukes, you'll LIVE"

Him: "STFU! I did this last party and I had no problems!"

I say: "Well, was your tank a PLD?"

Him: "no, a warrior"

Me: "With a subjob"

Him: "yeah so?"

Me: "My friend doesn't have a subjob, so hate holding isn't easy for him, so you'll get hate faster"

Him: "STFU! God damn high levels, think ur better than every1 else"

So he comes back, I pull something. Oh man, I love this, he dies again.

Newbie's should really listen, I think the game would be more enjoyable instead of having some dumbass ruining your party. Like that damn WAR/WHM who said moving around gives more hate. (This is when i'm THF, and want to setup SATA, he is also our tank...only tank...)

People are fragile because when you give them simple advice, they think you are telling them they suck at their job. So the only way for them not to look bad is by protesting. Sad isn't it?

Ah, the age old dilmena, trying to teach a lower level. Specially one in a high demand job like BLM or WHM.
I had a BLM who chain nuked, got killed in two hits, and starting insulting the WHM ( who was actually a rdm) for slow healing. Kicked his ass and got a better BLM. Saw him dead by Selbina a few minutes later. Laughed my ass off.
 
It would drive me nuts if I didn't ask for advice. If you're in my party and I find you have a WHM job back at the mog house and it's near or higher than mine in level, I'm going to request a critique. I'm going to get defensive if you say "Y'fucking noob, why don't you do this or that?" but most people are pretty nice about it.

I don't want to be "That Taru WHM" everyone remembers for being a schmuck. But I've seen the attitude from some of the newer ones when I've said "Paralyze is one of your best friends as a WHM."
 
i had this same problem in the dunes, ( i mean it was in the dunes so i should expect it right? ) not too long ago. trying to help someone out in their curing habits adn getting t..

well you get the point.
 
Ha, this reminds me of something that gets me so badly - Noobs biting my head off for not casting Shellra. We're not fighting beastmen, we're fighting *&^$#*#@ crawlers/raptors/birds/beetles/whatever. WTF would we need shellra vs stuff THAT DOESN'T USE MAGIC?! ><
