Petition for change in current POL policies

That's one well written letter imo. I'd sign it...somehow, as I'm in a small Canadian town, with no means of transport. But it'd get my e-signature nonetheless.

I'd sign this as well.

Although I understand the lolinternetpetition crowd, the more widely publicized this is, the better off we are as a community. I honestly don't believe the petition itself is what will make a change, but it gets people talking about the problem in a more organized manner. The more people know about the problem and demand a solution, the less SE can ignore us completely. (Although they're highly gifted at ignoring us)

I think someone else also had the right idea; let as many sites as possible know about this issue. This is a newsworthy problem because regardless of the fact that it's a game, there's no denying that this is largescale theft.

Great work Kisada.

Very nicely written; might want to consider posting it on a more public forum so that it can reach a larger audience?

Also, might want to change the following part;

On approximately December 11th, 2007 an exploit was found using Realplayer software which would submit users visiting certain popular sites to a virus that compromised account security. As a result, in the past several months there have been a number of stolen accounts reported, with a substantial increase in the amount stolen within the past month. Unfortunately, due to Playonline account policies, these players, who are the victims of a security exploit over which they had no control over, have almost zero recourse in taking back their rightful accounts. This petition is a proposal on some changes that we as the players, and in some cases victims, justly deserve.
As, technically, its only been a little over a month since the wide-scale thefts started.

I'd sign it.

I agree that signing with our real name would be more efficient. I don't see the need to put in the character's name tho, as that might scare some people into signing. Real name and server is enough for SE or someone to verify the validity of the names.

I'll sign for all my accounts.

oooh ive been waitin for this

Ill sign it indubidably! also this is a chance to put their HORRIBLE CSR (Customer Service Reps) on blast! who knows maybe there selling our information those rat bastards!

Count me in and thank you for using your time to do something like this regardless of whether it results in a change or not. As you said you can guarantee no change if someone doesn't try. The easy thing would be to just say, "that sucks that happened to you" and move on and forget about the problem til it happens to you or someone you like.

I think e-petitions can work. Fans of the Young and the Restless signed a petition to bring back the original person who played the character Lilly (forgot her real life name) and she came back. Same happend with another character on another soap. I think they'll at least review it. I'm in. I need to protect account stuff.

what the pic says

Kisada is good at inspirational speeches.

Just a thought.... wouldn't be better to go on protest in front of Square-enix HQ in USA (or even japan), or protest where the hell POL HQ is at..?

People willing to go Cali to go to Fan Fest, why not go there for good cause and protest there?

1) We'll be on the news
2) SE will bring this into attention and matter
3) We can file Lawsuit like this
4) It will tell them FFXI is serious business

I'd sign it.

Totally agree, I rather keep my anonimity as much as possible and I am sure there are quite a few others who would agree.

I am just curious though, what about people who have switched accounts, I know one or two who said they would sign, but they don't own their accounts anymore (no offense meant). For example, Trippy doesn't play anymore, but Tyrath does on his account. I assume it would be in their best interest if only only Trippy signed? And how do you verify that it is indeed the real Trippy or do petitions just get accepted on good faith? Never really had a reason to sign a petition before and the online petitions that I did see were filled with "James Bond", "Clark Kent", etc. >.>

I wonder if it would also be good to file complaints with the Better business bureau. This would fall under "non-delivery of goods or services" since in probably all the cases, the credit card info was changed after it was already billed to the owner's credit card since accounts are billed in advance. They payed for the current month, yet can't access the service and can't get customer support because the info has already been changed.

I would definitely sign this petition, I have a couple of friends that have fallen victims to this crap and they deserve to get there accounts back.
