Petition for change in current POL policies

thanks for responses so far.

while i'm in the process of editing the final draft, i'd really appreciate it if people could somehow get people to look here and give more attention to this thread. there's tons of people logging on this site and others i've posted on daily, but they're either not seeing it or they think there's no point.

any help we can get by getting them to join us would be great.

also, two more things: i'm looking for someone who might be able to translate this into japanese. it'd be a good idea if we could get this up on some popular JP bbs's.

and another thing: any resources people might be able to lend, or perhaps more importantly, contacts of people who could help us put this into the spotlight, would be really amazing. please let me know if possible.

on vent spreading the word

for the people who agree with the thread, i would really, really appreciate it if you could make a link to the thread in your sig like i have with mine. it might catch the eyes of people who may not have seen it, thanks

Gilsellers suck, I'll sign

I'll definitely sign, as will my brother Sirivalin.

As some may or may not know we left the game in July 07 due to unexpected irl stuff. We checked on our account in October but found the POLID/PASS invalid. We assumed the ID had been deleted, sighed, and moved on (nothing can be done to recover characters when the POL ID is deleted). Well very recently we were informed by a friend who still plays that our characters were online. It appears our accounts have been hacked and stolen like many others have. FYI Archmage and Sirivalin currently playing are NOT us. It looks like they blew my assault points and sold stuff too, but we can't figure out anything else going on based off of ffxah.com since no further info is there to be had.

This would certainly be an interesting option to take. Even if they were just e-mails and not hard copy letters, it would be a lot harder to ignore 1,000 e-mails all on the same topic than just one e-mail with 1,000 names on it.
I have to agree with this. It allows people who want to keep their anonimity and also sends more of a message. Just signing a document, especially an online petition doesn't send much of an effort for the signee (sp?) although it does for the petition creator to create and collect signatures. If you were to send idividual copies, it is a lot harder to ignore and it shows that each individual person cares enough to take the time to print, sign, and send it.

It would be a pain in SE's ass if 1000 people printed, signed and mailed a copy of this to them. If you could get people from different servers and translate it to different languages, you could ge substantially more than 1000 people to sign it.

How many people here are bi-lingual?

If i have this week I could translate this letter to French.

I will sign but have a suggestion also

Hello -

I agree with this and will sign. I haven't read through all of the posts but thought I might suggest some teeth to go along with the online petition. I truly think this has merit but it doesn't really hurt PoL at all other then letting them know we are unhappy.

If you can have everyone sign this petition plus have everyone register a complainant with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) – I think PoL will get the messaged.

The complainants could consist of poor customer service and poor internet security. If say 100,000 complainants (used my randon number generator  ) are registered with the BBB and the petition comes in – I think there is a good chance that they will change there practices.

The petition informs PoL of the changes we want :rtfm: and the complainants with the BBB give us the teeth :nono:.

i'm in and can translate in Italian and Russian

The most important translations would be those into the languages FFXI Serves, Japanese, German, French.

I think is also good idea to have a popular FFXI resource website such as FFXI wiki, ask admin to post anything related to your petition in the front page. Also will be great to ask admin from alla, ffxiah, bluegart, and many other ffxi related site

If you can get FFXI wiki to get involved i'm sure it'll be Huge o.o

I'd sign it. In an ideal world everyone would just boycott all SE products in 2008, that would certainly get their attention.

Perhaps not all year, but maybe a one-to-two month hiatus would maybe give them a little idea on how serious we were about having security bumped up on changing account information.

Some of the posts you missed mentioned this idea already and I already explained why it wouldn't work. SE already has a shitty rep with the BBB, just like every other MMO company; so a few more letters complaining isn't going to do a damn thing.

Complaining to the BBB also lacks a lot of teeth, since it's a USA-only organization and SE is a japanese-based company.

I'd sign it with my SSN. Might wanna post this on BG before the next interview if it gets big enough and try to have someone have a copy that members at SE can read or something.

Wish I could find a successful legal action, but I don't know much if anything at all about the subject...Sig'd the link.
