Playstation 3 Glitch Found in Japan release! (No discussion about wii or gtfo)

*shrugs* still has more backwards compatability than Microsoft and Nintendo have had XD (hell.. from what I've seen almost NONE of the Xbox games works on my friend's Xbox 360 as they were claimed to). This is also why I Wait for any system before buying.. it seems it'll be fixed by US release or shortly after.

I have an X-Box 360 and I have no trouble playing any X-Box games on it. And, I got mine the day it was launched. No problems at all with it. And the Wii will be able to download classic, old games from many years past. For both Sega and Nintendo. Explain how it gets more backwards then that? That's even better, because cartridges over time tend to become problems. CD's get scratches, chipped. However, data can not be physically damaged. Only corrupt.

I already received the call from GameStop to pick-up my PS3 this Friday, NOV 17 from 9am up (they also told me
I have 48 hours to pick it up lol).

The Wii is a sure-buy system also.

The good thing about systems with HDD is that they can make downloadable patches to fix the problems they find. Or mess everything up further like some people found out on the 360's latest system update (thank God mine didn't get "anything").

I disagree with this...

Nintendo has always been about backwards compatibility. And its only on its second disc-fed system, whereas PS is on its 3rd, so it is easier to implement.

But All the nintendos that had cartridges were backward compatible. except the NES lol, for obvious reasons..

that's right.. go take your N64 and play SNES or NES games.. OH WAIT! you can't.. I don't even think SNES could play NES games.. I don't remember though, been a long time. Game Cube couldn't play N64 or anything.. the Wii is the first consel I can think of that will be able to play a game from the older systems and that's only from the gamecube I hear.. the rest you have to actually download again.. the only thing so far nintendo has produced with backwards compatability has been its hand-held game devices, which was a reason I loved getting a gameboy rather than some other handheld in the past :P (PSP only caught my attention cause of the music, movies, games, hackability and internet abilities and that fact it was mentioned they were working on getting PS1 games to be downloadable via the PSP).

you do have to pay for them all over again it seems, cheaper than before maybe but still pay yet again.. all my cartridges from SNES, N64 work, all my discs (other than a few I was careless with) still work for PS1 and such.. take care of the stuff and they'll work fine for a long time. And there are many games that my friend was having trouble playing.. most of his games that weren't X-Box only games. All his X-Box only games work fine so far though.

Not getting a ps3 or wii (atm) or x360 but when someone tries to 'tone down' a problem... it's usually something serious. I bet they're just saying it's a 'minor' software problem to get everyone off their backs, and if this is the case, then it's working.

or it really is a "minor" problem and the sony-hating (usually nintendo fanboys as I've seen) are/will make it seem bigger than it is... no need to assume anything when you truly don't know. Assumptions usually only lead to problems.

"Microsoft received customer complaints following its Xbox launch in Japan in 2002 that the console was scratching game discs"

Thats not Microsoft's fault. That's for the people who think moving a system with a disc spinning @ 5000 rpm is a good idea.

Who honestly didnt see problems with launch PS3s?

I've been waiting for the first ones to come out. Problems are bound to happen. I am just waiting for them to be like, "Yeah, every unit died" lol

I think the funniest thing is their online system updating thing. I mean, of all things that could possibly go wrong, that would've been it. Suprisingly, it works. For now, until they send out a bad firmware update that botches it.

Arguement over, go home. Sony has hardware issues constantly, quit being retarded. You don't have to be a Microsoft or Nintendo fanboy to recognize a common trend. If it was a first time fault, then yeah, I could see it being only invoked by fanboyism. But it's not. Seriously though.. Disk reading errors? That was Sony's major problem with the PS2. That really should've been one of the top things to try to avoid.

And honestly. Paying a very tiny fee to play past games? Sign me up. That means I can play them instantly instead of attempting to get ancient hardware to work for 20 minutes, just to have the game lock up 10 minutes in to play. Get over yourself.

and if you knew anything the disc read error usually came from dust (granted I know that some of the problems weren't dust related).. hmm.. seems like something that causes problems to ALL electronics.. ya.. heaven forbid that sony can't clean up your damn house for you eh? I know sony had issues when PS2 was released.. but the PS1 release I remember very little to almost no problems.. PSP release the hardware worked fine (at least mostly, I don't know anyone who had problems nor saw much about it).. hmm so they had problems with the PS3, something with entirely new technology.. and it's not even the technology appearantly but software problem which they are fixing. Admit it, most of the people that bitch constantly have been Nintendo fanboys. I know Sony's not perfect, I'm not claiming they are.. but I'm tired of everyone only pointing out their faults, no one gives a damn to give them credit for anything (and saying they stole everything such bullshit, even the Wii remote isn't original, neither in appearance or in the motion sense.. that's not new either.. y helo ter virtual reality). So rediculous the way things are getting. I'm not gonna say PS3 is the best thing either, I don't know, I'll wait for awhile. I see the bad and the good rather than the narrowminded ways of the fanboy who focuses on the bad of the competition and only the good of what they are a fanboy of.

And if you knew anything, you'd realize that it's a hardware fault, and not a user fault. Or perhaps you'd care to explain how enviromental factors cause so many PS2s experience this problem, while other consoles do not suffer from it?

lol.. Ele, I'm not a wii fanboy, but i understand where you're coming from... i'd say that for any system.. i'm in the neutral corner with all this. What I 'hate' is the whole concept of 'console war.' I mean.. E3 is just supposed to be a place for companies and etc to let players have fun and preview games and play demos. Now it's all about who has the best graphics and who's guild is more flashy and etc. If nintendo had the same backwards compatability problem.. i'd say nintendo is in big trouble and they're probably panicking while saying it's a 'minor' problem... same for x360 as well.

dust has been a factor for the thing for a damn long time.. it's a reason you should clean out electronics with an air cleaning can every so often. Do you realize how sensative electronics are? How about you go take a magnet to your computer, hardware fault, right?

And I'm just getting so damn tired of so many being "ZOMG NINTENDO PWNS AND CAN DO NO WRONG!!" and then the same going "BOOO SONY FOR THIS PROBLEM HERE!" and not even acknowledging anything good that sony do.. the PS3 is going to be a powerful consel and if the game makers take the system to its limits we'll find games of enormous worth in game play and replayability and other fun things of it. The Wii is the same, it has a nice controller (the only feature other than the price that makes it stand out from other systems) and that's nice, but if the game producers do not use the controller to its capabilities well that's not Nintendo's fault (unless it's a nintendo game.. hehe). I don't really care about the companies themselves, I just want a system with games I can enjoy and still play my old games. So far the sony systems have been doing that, Wii's downloadable library is what's selling me. I can make the money in due time, I am patient, it's only a matter of time for me to get that amount of money from working.

The Playstation 3's only originality is an item that ships broken. The Cell Processor.

The font used for "Playstation 3" on the top of the machine isn't even original. It's the Spider-Man movie title font. How lazy do you have to be to not even design up a font? They should've just stuck with the Playstation 2 font.

PSP also had issues with the Square button.

Sure, motion sensing isn't new. No ones ever argued that. But rather the application the Wii uses it for is, as far as home video games go. If you own a virtual reality home system, by all means, let me know.

oh for fucks sake... you're gonna bitch about the font? Spider man wasn't even the first to use that font.. come on.. OH NO! YOU'RE NOT ORIGINAL SKAW! You're using the same font as someone else!

and yes.. there were many I've read all around arguing that nintendo was the first to use motion sensors.. that got annoying..

Ofcourse, Nintendos the first to use this degree of Motion Sensing. The type the Wii uses is very complex compared to motion sensing used up until now. Get over yourself and realize you're the biggest fanboy here. A hypocritical one at that.

omg thats nothing new it's just motion sensing!

well, omg cell processors? Thats nothing new, it's just multiprocessors! Hi-Def graphics? Thats nothing new. Same Controller? Thats nothing new. Remedial Motion sensing? Thats nothing new. Online play? Thats nothing new.

and sony's the first to use this degree of power for a gaming consel, yet all we can do is focus on the bad, eh? :\ oh well..

They're also using media which doesn't have a clear future, as well as shipping bad processors. What if someone wants to "push the limits," while rendering a great deal of Playstation 3's worthless to run the software on? Theres a reason people comment on the bad more than the good. Because the bad can tank the system. Especially when the issues are so severe that each Playstation 3 doesn't have the same hardware specs as the next.

People comment on the Wii's graphics being subpar. Sadly, if thats the only arguement people can draw on the Wii, they need to be shot in the face. The same with people who can only ravage "LOL M$$$@#!!!!" out of their mouths in regards to the Xbox360.

So this is what happens when a sony fanboy snaps....
facinating.

I'm typically a Sony person, but they're just shooting themselves in the foots, and being way to cocky about it too, sure it's "powerful", but where's the games people want? The only worthy title of mention in their launch is Resistance, and I'm only interested in that because it's an Insomniac games title, where's FF(well not so close to XII, mainly mean system sellers), where's MGS, where's DMC, where's GoW, hell where's Heavenly Sword?(Delayed), not to mention even fucking Oblivion got delayed.
They're trying to rush out the door, with games most people don't give a shit about, limited quantities, and they're being idiots. Personally I hope they fail, then maybe they won't be so cocky about the PS4, if there ever is one. I'll take my DS over the PS3 any day sorry.

This is typical Sony cockiness I'm talking about:

In an article published today, IGN comments on a CNET Japan article containing a full list of 196 games with backwards compatibility issues. Apparently, Sony responded with a statement that backwards compatibility was never expected to be 100%, and that some people do not mind playing games without sound. Fortunately, the company also stated that these issues will be addressed in an eventual system update.
Yea....

Its cuz its like the only "bad" thing Wii has. I've never been a Nintendo fan, but damn, they're doing things right :|
