PLD maat fight...plz help

Question going out to all of those pld that have beat maat already......what was the tactics that you used to beat him. and also what weapon skill did you use. ive been using vorpal blade. however, im not sure if swift blade will be better. as far as what i was told, swift blade deals magic dmg also. im unsure wether maat is dmg'd more by swift blade vorpal or what.

what i normally do during the fight-
prot/shell
equip opo opo necklace
rest for full mp
sleep potions till 100 tp
pop pineapple juice
cast flash
attack maat
use tp immediately
use eye drops to get rid of blind
pop icarus wing and use tp
run away from maat when he 2 hrs
commence attacking after 2 hr diminishes
use 2hr soon after maat uses his
use third ws when tp is ready
use heals,flash,hi pots, hi ethers as needed
 
I'll tell a freind of mine to send you a /tell. He broke the record at one point I believe.

If you don't hear from myself or Gregor by tomorrow - send me a /tell and I'll make sure it's cool with him to give you tips. He's generally very very helpful so I can't imagine it's a problem.
 
Oh crap.. the PLD Maat fight is hard? Paladin life is so damn unfair.
 
you beat him yet master? if not... this is what i did

completed gobbiebag IV
opo-opo necklace
x4 sleep potion
x1 melon juice
x3-4 yagudo drinks
x1 meat chiefkabob
x1 icarus wing
buy as much Hi-Potions and Hi-Ether (more on Hi-Potions than Hi-Ether)

i was lv.70, used full af, vit rings, drone earrings, espadon, general's shield, i.m. gorget, rse belt, rosenbogen bow, and behemoth mantle. i would macro in r.g. collar and life belt when the hp is negated from the equip already.

uhh... entered bc fight, casted Protect IV and Shell III, then use melon juice. equipped opo necklace and basically use all 4 sleep potions until you got 100%TP.

the ws of choice that i used was vorpal blade because it swings for 5 (i think, forgot now). by the time you got your 100%TP, eat the chiefkabob, then engage maat.

use yagudo drink and cast flash when you get to him. i immediately used vorpal blade, then i used icarus wing, then did another vorpal blade. after that, i started Cure III myself in between swings. use flash to your own descretion, and you can use your job abilities to beef up your defense if you wish. once you run out of MP, let the drink take it's course while you start spamming your Hi-Potions. at anytime you have 100%TP and you are NOT blinded, use vorpal blade again.

when he 2hr'd, i just stood there and spam Hi-Potions until his 2hr was gone. make sure to pop in a yagudo drink whenever it wears off. once my MP is back, i started Cure III again. i also spammed in a few Hi-Ether in between just as well since you should be running low on Hi-Potions by now.

i believe by the 5th or 6th vorpal blade is where he quit and i won^^

mmhmmmmmmmmmmmmm... yeah anyway here goes

Step 1: Enter BC prot 4, shell 3, pop a yag, equip the opo necklace and chug 4 sleeping pots. Also use foods or what not (i used steamed crab). K, now the fun starts. Run in engage maat and WS hit ass, use an icarus wing and WS him again. I missed my wing macro and hit invincible at the begining :oops: but really it doesn't matter...infact i only ended up using 5 hi-pots and 1 vile elixar so we. anyways continue the fight, shield bash his banish 3 (stun actually works in this fight :lol: ) WS him when you get tp. When Maat uses 2 hour turn around and run like a little pansy back down the tunnel you came in, if you take a left or a right where they fork you can run form him w/o getting hit until his 2 hour wears off. Pop potions as needed, save the vile elixar for when you get low on HP and MP cause it does both. WS him when you get TP and victory should be yours 8) . anyway that's how my experience went.

Just so you know it took me twice to kill him beacause i was going by a guide someone had written on how to beat him.....needless to say it didnt work. Anyway when i went in the second time i beat him in less than 5 min. Now not to say this is the only way to do it just saying i found it easier for me. Ill start off with what items and equipment i had.
Also keep in mind different races might go about items and equipment differently(ie galka more mp up items, taru more hp,dmg items)I was hume by the way.


Items:
4xsleep potions
1xIcarus wing
3 yag drinks
7 hi-potions
1 meat chiefkabob
3 hi-ether


Equipment:
Sword: Espadon
Shield: General's Shield
Head: AF
Neck:Opo Opo then Royal Guards Collar
Earrings: Assault Earring and Drone Earring
Body:AF
Hands:AF
Legs:AF
Feet:AF
Fingers:Chrysoberyl and Tigers ring
Back: Amemit Mantle +1
Waist: Lifes Belt

As for weapon skill i used vorpal blade simply cause it has a chance to do 4 crit hit as opposed to swift which will only hit up to 3

And when it comes time to use your Icarus wing be aware you wont be able to use any potions for 30 min(or at least i couldnt)

Now enter the bc and pop protect 4 and shell 3 equip your opo necklace pop your sleep potions for 100 tp eat your kabob.

First thing I did was flash then unload my tp. Then i just did the normal heal attack until i built up enough tp to do vorpal again.

Now since hes really a pld/mnk(which means hes gonna double attack you), keep popping off flash and healing when necessary. Try to use a few hi potions to get back your hp so you have some mp left for the rest of the fight.

About that time hes probably gonna use invincible in which case just flash him then try to run around the room trying not to take dmg from him till it wears off.

Also while hes invincibled try to get back as much mp and hp as you can.

After his wears off use your invincible and hope you can get enough tp to do your 3rd vorpal.

By this point i was in pretty good shape with over half my hp and a good amount of mp. But everyones fight is gonna be different if your real low on mp and hp go ahead and use your Icarus wing and nail him with vorpal. He should go down after 4 vorpals.

Hope this helps some, like i said this worked for me and by no means is the end all be all way to beat matt. Race, equipment, and player style have to be taken into consideration.

Just so you know though, my first attempt i went in with mostly vit or def up gear but ran out of time.

GO IN NAKIE!! ^^v it helps.. he is based on joo stats and if joo go in nakie then he is weaker ^^ RDM was a hard maat fight but I beat his ass down!!! MUAHAH!!!! ^^v

I beat him when I hit 69.. was very easy fight for me.
And I made tons of mistakes too

mistake 1: forgot to unequip opo necklace
mistake 2: forgot to run from his 2 hr
mistake 3: forgot to drink my 2nd yag drink mid fight

EQ: esp+1
All AF except body
Assault Jerkn
Behemoth Mntl.
Flourite ring, Jelly ring
Diamnd Shield
opo necklace(intended spiked necklace)
+3 dex bow
Dodge earrings.

5 hi-pot
meat chiefk.
2 yag. (1 right after casting buffs to heal while u slept TP)
vile elixer
icarus wing
eye drop

run in with ur buffs, eq, tp ready. Use eye drop (he will flash immediately).
swift blade >>maat
icarus wing
swift blade >>maat
flash
heal, heal, whack, whack
2 hr.. dur.. (2 hr'ed also)
flash
swift blade >>maat
whack, heal, whack
death >>maat

had a yag potion and 1 hi pot left after battle
I used vile elixer during 2 hr session.. was very helpful
used pots here and there.. but forgot about my other yag.
 
trust meh.. going in naked helps ^^ he was strong.. but still a lot weaker compared to when I fought him with clothes and stuffu on ^^

easy way to murder Maat.

Get a fucking Joyeuse tear his ass in 2.

I did maat as blm, but decided to test my skills and did him as pld also LOL.
