I just was walking back to Bastok after a very good party in the dunes. And I notice some annoying macros, so i go to examine and /sea <t> the person who is doing such. I notice he is only level 17 taking on a snipper just by himself... And his White mage/ redmage friend ( not shure she was anon ).
So anyhow my point is this...
If you can't function in or find a party post level 10 ( 12 it becomes easy to find a party, but this guy was 17! ). But down the keyboard and mouse and/or shut off you ps2 and go play those stupid NFL football games on xbox.
This type of nonsense distrubs me.
If you want to powerlevel somewhere...

... Go play Diablo2. Where powerlevelers and lazy newcomers roam.

PS: I don't pay 20 dollars a month to hear your stupid macros and to blind myself from your horrible gear. THIS GAME IS NOT THAT HARD.

Not that I have ever done it myself, but are you are going to tell me you would never take up the opportunity to get a PL? I mean, sometimes while you are waiting for a PT, or even before hand, a friend or LS member may offer to help you out of shear boredom, I know this happens. Crap, I would have rather had PL's in some cases and especially in some areas rather than deal with some crappy PT's. I personally don't mind PL'ing, but I have never actually done it. You could always use your chat filters and disable actions and effects on "other" players, that way you dont have to hear there macros and such.

Touchy subject but let me put my 2 cents in.

Powerlevelling a new player = BAD. they don't learn their job.

PLing an experienced player raising a low level job = I have no issue with.

yea I got my starting job to 30 with no help getting a level what so ever, Except when my pt leader would have his high lvl pld friend floating around the camp spamming cure on the tank but I didnt mind that.

I have to agree with Corosato on this 100%.
PLing a new player running their 1st job (or lets face it folks, 1st adv job after getting a non-adv to 30), does absolutely NO favors either to the palyer getting the PL or any of us for that matter as potential grp-ees.
Just consider what would become of things if these ppl get PL'd for half the levels to 30 then get mentor status.....and use their l33t skillz to teach others.....
/sigh

I'll admit I'm getting my Theif Power Leveled to 15 and in return I'm power leveling my friend's theif. We have both been playing this game since about early november late october and have no intentions of ever actually playing the class again. Just both really want it for treasure hunter when we're farming. I really don't see to much wrong in doing it in circumstances like this. My other jobs I've leveled the old fashion way

Dunes sucks ass. 90% of the players there suck ass. This wouldnt be such a big deal if they were willing to learn, but...

THEY THINK THEY KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THE GAME ALREADY.

When I play party leader there, I kick players out of my groups non stop. If you show an inability to learn or listen to me, boom, gone.

Would i rather get powerleveled than ever group in dunes again? Yes.

Last night, one of the players I booted out of my party went so far as to run around Dunes spamming shouts saying 'Do not join Keits party, he will boot you out'.

Well hell yeah Ill kick you out if you add nothing to my party and wont even listen to experienced players advice on how to help out.

And what is with this trend of new players picking Elvaan. Its like you can tell in advance that the player is going to be shitty if he a rank 1 or 2 Elvaan. (Not saying Elvaan is a bad race or that all Elvaan are bad, im just saying that most new players who care not to learn anything seem to be elvaan.)

Yesterday in dunes, 4 out of the 5 members I booted from my party were Elvaan.

YWARRRRRWRRRR! ANGER! RAGE!!!

OOOOH! And whats with their typing? Its like they leave out letters on purpose to 'sound cool'.

"Hey, would you like to join my party?" becomes "Yo u wan jn my pt".

"You are awful at this game and should quit forever." becomes "ur sux at ths and ur mom suxd dix OMG LOLZ".

These fucking people make me want to quit. This is BY FAR the worst 'comunity' of players I have ever encountered. I thank god that I have a small linkshell full of nice people that also happen to be good players. I also thank god that they dont type like these ps2 kiddies. (Yes, i know not all ps2 players are awful typists, so back off).

RRRAAWWWWR!!!!

I'm Elvaan..... /cry yeah there are alot of elvaans out and about these days, but eh those pointy ears are just so damn irrasistable.

I agree with the fact newbies shouldn't be power levelled. My friend wanted me to power level him and I did level him to 10, but after that I told him to go find a party. He's got to learn through mjstakes and people yelling and correcting him that he should play a particular way.

I met this one guy who ended up getting ALL THE WAY to 30 soloing... man, that guy has patience. He partied maybe six times on the way to 30 and didn't like it because of bad experiences. Needless to say, I told him he was being very inefficient and he tried grouping...and now he's level 53... way past me...dammit.

Personally, I hate power levelling someone. I will only do it if I'm extremely bored or if someone in my LS EXTREMEEMLY needs it. Hence, I will pwoer level a friend who is a thief. I will NOT power level someone who is a whm. White mage is PRIME to get their own parties.

Now in regards to the original topic i guess, if you're power levelling someone or a group, you should really go in an area that isn't so popular as the dunes and such because they're alerady heavily camped. They should move to the alternate spots or less traffic.

8) I think you guys missed my over point of this rant. Let me explain more carefully. More of all it's all about raising your skill points. I.e, Dagger, Evasion, Etc. It doesnt matter weather your a new comer or a Extreme veteran, If your a level 30 Warrior you still need to raise those Great Katana skill points. As goes for other jobs. IN FACTm that could explain why you rarely ( in my case i have never heard of or seen ) seen someone PL a mage.^^ I make my own parties in the dunes and get 200-240xp, no lies, no bragging, no PL. So hence waiting for a party and getting 100-160 xp, I would just start my own party and get better exp flow. Excuse me if I lost my train of thought somewhere in there, I hope you all get what I'm trying to say. ^^ 8)

Maybe The WHM was PLing the guy so he could get his subjob quest. I went to help a member in my linkshell get his subjob quest items when he died from Agro. from a goblin. I was fighting a D. Fly at the time and saw he deleveled to 17. I power leveled him back to 18 and gave him a buffer. I do not power level people unless its certain occasions or I owe them a favor. Its long and boreing.

just thought about this or maybe i read it some where but , Let them do there power leveling they will be the ones who quit the game because they are bored and unable to get there shiny new dark knight job past lvl 10 cause no one will help them out.

I have to say that the best way to get a grasp of your job is to level yourself to the first 10-15 lvls. The best way to be a good player is to actually PLAY not just whack something while someone casts cure. Its fairly intuitive. If you have a good grasp on your character and job then you shouldn't have problems in a pt, unless everyone in the pt is shitty, but thats a different story.
Ive had some bad pt experiences in the dunes but for the most part the pts i have been in there have been really good. With so many options out there in the dunes i think it is a huge waste to shell out gil to be PL'd vs. being in a good, fun PT. Then again if you are willing to just PL all the time and not actually rely on your own skill then maybe i dont want you to go out and pt, because you are bound to ruin the pt you are in.
For players leveling a sub: once you are comfortable with that job id say PL your sub is fine though i think the best route is still mainly to PT.

Which is more boring?
PL or playing as whm?

They're both boring to me. o.o

How do yoooo know its a year old? <_<;
