POL: Current Known Issues (August 29th & August 30th)

Double post, sorry.

It's been 2.4 for a while now, or at least as long as I can remember. It was upped to 3.0 in this update.

Oh. I need to stop just crafting and generally doing nothing in game and keep track of this stuff again. Was the cap raised to 3 for all melee or just 2-hander?

Edit: Right, 2.4 previously, just rechecked my stuff. Dunno where I got the 2 from, sorry for the misinfo.

That would be my guess as well. My point still remains tho, if you're going to make such a drastic change, make sure you got all your bases covered. How easy would it have been to spot the pDIF capping problem before implementing the changes? And then the resulting /thf "uselessness" because of no added value whatsoever.

I know it's nothing new nor a surprise but that's basic stuff, from their point of view, to assess (sp?) what the changes are going to produce. A programming error I can understand, but not something like that.

By the way, when did the pDIF cap got raised to 3 for regular melee attacks, I thought it was 2 and 3 for ranged. Sorry if it's been a long time, I really just totally missed it.
i would concur and that pDIF was part of this last update

1H normal attacks/WS cap at 2PDIF
1H critical attacks/WS cap at 3PDIF

2H normal attacks/WS cap at 3PDIF
2H critical attacks/WS cap at 3PDIF

SA adds 1 PDIF
SA+WS caps at 3PDIF

They not only raised 2H pDIF but lowered 1H pDIf this why mnk saying omg nerf because they now 2 pDIf instead of there use to be 2.4 pDIf for non crits .

My guess would be they will lower thr non crit ratio down 2.4-2.6 and keep crit the same on 2h weapons making there dmg numbers back in check but still very powerful.

TP of Beastmaster's pet continues to decrease while its not engaged in battle.

old news...

Only on charmed mobs. Jug pets aren't supposed to lose their TP between fights. Do more homework, wannaBST.

ADR caps at 2.0, so you probably just got them mixed up.

Wth? SE sucks and because of this now I'm almost 90% convinced that if they make Time Mage in WoTG, they are gonna ruin it!

Random question... But how does the wording in this announcement compare to the announcements proceeding the previous nerfs we've experienced? I know it's a long shot, but if the wording isn't the same, who's to say the results will be as well?

I remember the RNG nerf, and it was equally as vague at first, but then they released detailed information later that specifically stated Ranged Damage would receive a larger penalty on higher level monster, and distance would dictate the severity of that penalty.

I'd say it was very specific.

This on the other hand is extremely vague, but they did give a more informative description on the Japanese POL site.

Somebody on BG translated this.

* When calculating damage for players equipped with 2-handed weapons, the damage rating's upper limit isn't being corrected properly.
* When not engaged in battle, a Beastmaster's pet's TP gradually decreases.
* Automaton's stats are lower than they were originally.
* When combining certain frames with certain heads, the Automaton will constantly cast magic.
I know a lot of people can't help but throw in their opinions on what should or shouldn't be done, but it honestly doesn't sound like much.

2 handers still get 1 dex = 1 acc, and 1 str = 1 attk, and all WS's keep their new modifications.

As Mistra said in WS testing thread Sneak Attack isn't working due to Melee's reaching the newly placed 3.0 pDIF cap on 2 handed weapons with /war sub, and no DA or crit proc.

Surely SE mean't to place the 3.0 pDIF cap on 2 handers, so it's possible they mean't the cap to raise when using Sneak Attack. If thats the case god help us all.

Only other likely senario is pDIF going back to 2.4, which would turn my 1.5k Gekko into a 1.2k Gekko and make Sneak Attack work again. No big whoop.

Except that the GM's aren't SE employees, so it's not really their game.

I also don't think there's going to be a massive nerf on 2-handed weapons with this update. The update went beyond improvement and into the realm of broken; they didn't need to make the change that drastic and probably never intended to do such. They messed with the damage formulas for 2-handed weapons, I'd personally be very surprised if they nailed it on the first attempt; although it's better that they went overboard than the change barely having any effect.
Well, looking at, say, Sage Sundi, he obviously knows nothing about the game either.

Er, doesn't the 2h update make hnms easier? I don't really fight them anymore but I saw some SSes of some pretty high dmg on fafnirs and such.

It makes you kill them faster, but that still requires people to stay alive and not die, which is far too much for Allakhazam to handle.

I agree, the 3.0 pDIF hasn't made a bit of difference on sky gods this week since you could do it before with SA. WS still land for the same as before, just at the moment you can as much damage without the thief subjob. Pushing pDIF back down some would be the reasonable solution, then SA has a role again by giving you an automatic 3.0 instead of a 2.4. I do think they intended to raise the limit for 2H, but probably not so drastically. Something like 2.6 with a crit cap of 3.0 or 3.2 would be more than necessary.

On the flip side, the lowering of the pDIF to 2.0 for 1H weapons (and HTH) wasn't ever mentioned in the update since no changes to 1H were announced. I suspect this might get corrected back to 2.4. Of course this announcement doesn't mention 1H changes either, lol. Sneaky, sneaky SE.

As far as I've seen the new huge ws numbers are coming from a Double Attack on the weaponskill. Which now carries the same fTP mod as the first hit did, instead of falling back to a fTP mod of 1.0. Whereas before a Double Attack meant 300 or so extra damage on a single hit Great Katana weaponskill. It now pretty much doubles it. (Correct me if I'm wrong please).

Uh, yeah? Didn't SE even state they lowered the stats to offset the increased skill levels?

Not sure I follow... You just quoted SE, so yeah it looks like they did say that. Did you just read my edited post in a quote or something?

My post was only referring to how vague the 8/30 2-handed weapon update was on the NA version of the POL site compared to the JP. We hardly got a direct translation.

NA POL SITE said:
- Amount of damage is not corrected properly when characters are equipped with two-handed weapons.

JP POL SITE - translated said:
* When calculating damage for players equipped with 2-handed weapons, the damage rating's upper limit isn't being corrected properly.
