I remember when they were 25k a stack :) And bat wings were 10k... Didnt really make sense to me, but hey, it was some easy gil :D
 
I miss those days :x Made my first 500k in about a month of taking THF from 1-15..
 
I see nothing wrong with using windower the way it was intended by the developers to be used. If you wanna go a step farther and flee-hax or bot or any other stupid crap, that's your business and I hope you get banned.

That said, I specifically use windower so that I can control Foobar2000 at the same time. Lol. Distance, Recast and Expwatch do come in handy, and for some weird reason my TParty doesn't work. I should get that latter one fixed, but it's not a necessity.
 
Tparty is meaningless really.
Distance lets Rangers be Rangers.
Expwatch... if someone calls this hacking smack them.
Multiline macros is about the closest thing to hacking, but I can do that with just my keyboard (G15 GO!) so not really.

Didn't SE have some contest where you could win said G15 keyboard, or otherwise advertized it, or am I just crazy?

(If so, the connotation being that they actually dont' give a shit if you use extended macros, because they encouraged the use of a keyboard that allows it.)
 
3rd party programs arent the same as that keyboard.

SE just laid down the law that any third party program used in conjunction with ffxi could result in suspensions and/or bannings.

Thats all everyone really even needs to know

Sure, they are kind of dumb for not making FFXI have a windowed option in the first place, but they do what they do. They make the game, they make their rules...
 
What way are they different when they accomplish the exact same thing? What way can SE show (when invalid commands arn't sent to the server, see case: /console. If they could actually see that on server logs, windower users would be banned left and right) that you're using windower instead of a G15 keyboard, when the results server-side are the exact same thing? How do you prosecute one and not the other?

I'm not arguing with what SE's said, I'm just utterly confused as to how they actually plan to enforce it, without ending up with cases like banning NA clients for JP bazaar comments when they logged onto their buddie's JP client to make it.
 
Theyre different in the way that the Keyboard can work while in fullscreen mode, without using any outside programs.

Heaven forbid I bring this up, because Id really rather not, but if theres rumor, then theres rumor, but SE did say, iirc, that windower IS detectable. And that does make sense to me.

Once the new UI is released, along with windowed mode, users may not even have to rely on the things they do now, which does give SE reason to crack down on the lesser programs/plugins even harder.
 
It has been exactly one year today since I lost Dowzer.

That's not different, though. The end result of having a 28-line macro (such as my own for asuran) is achived either source, and the legal one is much less common than the illegal one. It's not actually illegal if it's never enforced, y'know? So, since there is no way to specifically detect if they're using the G15 or windower, since the output looks the exact same server-side... will they start banning G15 users when the official windower comes out and they presumably crack down on the unofficial one?

Now I wouldn't be at all suprised if SE can detect windower right now, but obviously they haven't given that ability to GMs yet, because there've also been cases of GMs berating PS2 users for using windower.......

Windower macros work in full-screen mode too.

Of course it's detectable, they just can't enforce it. It's against their terms of service to check your memory to prove you have windower running, and that's the only way they'd know what you're doing.
 
I am on the side where people say windower is detectable, namely for the reason that I was suspended for 2 days back in December I think it was... Or January I forget.

No hacking whatsoever, and I wasnt told why I was suspended. I suppose it could have been because I was bitching at someone, but I dont bitch at anyone unless they deserve it, and besides that, GM's usually talk to both parties before suspending anyone.

So my conclusion was that windower was the cause.

It is detectable, no one ever said it wasn't. They just can't do anything about it because the only way for them to detect it is illegal under the current ToS.

You're guessing it was windower, but since they didn't say that's why they banned you, it's only conjecture.
