At the following time, we will be performing maintenance on all Worlds. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XI will be unavailable.

Thank you for your patience.

* The client software will also be updated at this time. Once this maintenance is completed, the client update will start automatically after logging back into FINAL FANTASY XI. Please follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

* You may receive errors such as "POL-1160" or "POL-0010" during the download process due to heavy server traffic. If you are unable to access the update, we ask that you please wait a while and then try again. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in making this a smooth version update.

* We will be making a change to the "World Pass" system. After the maintenance, you will be able to select the designated World for your new characters. For those of who are considering issuing a "World Pass" prior to the maintenance, we recommend that you use the "World Pass" before the maintenance goes into effect. You will still be able to issue a "Gold World Pass" even after the maintenance.

* For the update details, please refer to "Topics" on the official PlayOnline.com web site or PlayOnline Viewer which will be available on Mar. 7, 2007.

* Also, chocobo racing has been excluded from this version update for further testing, and is scheduled to be implemented at end of March. More details will be announced when they become available. We apologize for the inconvenience.
[Date & Time]
Mar. 7, 2007 from 9:00 to 16:00 (PST)
* Maintenance completion time may be subject to change.

Starting March 8, 2007, players will be able to create new characters on the World of their choice. Up until now, Worlds would be randomly assigned to characters upon their creation, while only players with World Passes could join their friends. However, with this new adjustment, all players, even ones without World Passes, will have the option to select their realm at the character selection screen.

Originally, the World Pass system was introduced to maintain a balance among all the Worlds and prevent overpopulation. However, with the continued stablization of each World's adventurer community and recent technical advances in server technology, it has been determined that allowing players to create new characters on Worlds of their choice would not greatly affect the current population balance.

In conjunction with this change, we have updated the character creation screen to include a new pull-down window from which players can select the World of their choice. Also, additional characters added to an account will no longer be automatically assigned to the same World as the first character. Players will be free to choose where they wish that new character to reside, be it the same World, or a completely different one.

Finally, the development team is continuing their work on World selection by making preparations for a new service that will allow players to move their characters to different Worlds. Please keep a close watch on the Topics page for further updates on this exciting feature.

*While all World Passes will become void after March 8, 2007, Gold World Passes will continue to be distributed to players who wish to purchase them. Any adventurers who would like to invite their friends to Vana'diel can still utilize the Gold World Pass feature and take advantage of the special benefits this unique system has to offer.

Dammit, and here i wanted to gamble on races. -_- What a rip.

Yeah, the delay blows... but at least it's only for a month. That gives me time to work with my new bird.

So who is thinking of leaveing Quetzalcoatl in the near future?

I'm happy with where I am. Unless there's a really special reason that calls for it, I refuse to budge (i.e. 3 or 4 of real life friends play the game and start on Server X. Then maybe I'll move). But whatever you've established/gotten used to here on this server will all be gone and you pretty much start from scratch (find new LS, make new friends, adjust to new market/players)...

I have a few friends on Diabolos, I might consider moving there sometime in the future (when everyone I know on quetz has quit :P )

I thinking some fee, either dollar or gil, will be required to move servers.
Otherwise, this change could very well make the economy go to hell.
(Although, if there isn't any fee, I could just hop worlds and sell things in the place where they sell the highest). We'll see when they announce it.

Chocobo Racing, I'm not complaining. All my chocobos hated me when I tried to raise them, so I think I'll just sit back and enjoy the races (bet on bocos even if they include that feature).

Looks exciting.

If you own the European version of "PlayOnline" and "FINAL FANTASY XI" and your Windows PC or Xbox 360 is set to either French or German, your PlayOnline viewer will automatically be displayed in the language of the relevant platform once your PlayOnline viewer has been updated (update planned to be on the 8th of March)

Once the version update is complete, FINAL FANTASY XI will be displayed in the same language as well.

After the version update for PlayOnline or FINAL FANTASY XI, you will be able to switch the language between English/French/German by using the "Language Settings" on the top page of the PlayOnline viewer log in screen.

You can change the language from this screen as many times as you like.

* Tetra Master (Windows version only) will remain in English though.
* If your Windows/Xbox 360 is not set to either French or German, English will be the default language, but you will be able to change it by following the instructions above.
* The "Support Language" which has been set before the version updates will be cleared.

Oh yes! Lame Savage!!~

(Savage Blade)

I would HOPE SE would be smart enough to make server hopping a timed process (Like make you wait a month before being able to move) so that you couldn't just switch back and forth at free will and try to make a quick buck.

I may be reading it wrong, but I think you can just create new characters on the same account on different servers. I don't think you can move your current main character to another server.

It does but...

This is what has me worried.

Why the hell would someone want to move their main character to a different server? I mean, unless everyone on this server hates you or something and you have no friends, but otherwise most are already established here with many friends, linkshells, and end game linkshells/events.

That and you might see people server hoping just to sell items at one server for a higher price and buy the item they want at a cheaper price, although I bet SE would make server moving something that only happens once in a while, like once a month or more or something.

Last thing I need is idiots from other servers crowding up my sky or taking over my dynamis spot. God help us if the servers with more established rmt start hopping to the little servers where people wont stand chance against thier armies of bots.

Shiva server would certainly see an influx of BSTs if server jumping becomes a reality. Crab army go!

/shrug, I have friends on various servers, I could see trying to organize a mass exodus to some neutral server.
