What if our names are taken already on alternative servers? =(

Although I guess there are people that want a name change or have regrets.

Mattaru, who posts here, and is a Tarutaru, also happens to be the name of my cousin who plays by the same name, and is a Tarutaru also, who plays on the Fenrir server. (He quit/disabled his account now but ...). I actually messaged him once thinking that it was my cousin, as it didn't occur to me that same names across servers was possible.

Oh, server hopping could be a big problem. Considering we have such a huge community and our server has its *own* free forum... we could see an influx of retarded people trying to get in on the action.

Though, I could see it working the completely opposite way too. Maybe a big shell of good players will move here to get away from bad/botting competition or something. Although it would be hard with yet *another* end-game LS, maybe the current end gamers can work with them and establish a new rule set or integrate them into a current, established LS. That would be neat to see.

and well...it'd be fun to server hop for a month, just to meet new ppls...

I mean, come on, it is a social thing. I might even consider it just to see what the more popular servers are like.

I would imagine they included a feature to change your name as you crossed over to another server. I can see where this could cause problems with people being loot whores and then jumping servers as well as changing names. Hopefully there will be restriction to how often or how many times one can server hop. Otherwise it could get ugly.

They said early march a month or two ago, so I was expecting it the last week of march.

I think all the RMT should pick up and move to one server, that way no one can complain about them, and they won't have to worry about GM calls.

I can't see myself leaving for a server full of strangers, but now people will have to be careful who they trust when it comes to bcnms/rare drops, because soon nothing will be stopping a person from stealing some shit and bolting to a new server.

I would HOPE SE would be smart enough to make server hopping a timed process (Like make you wait a month before being able to move) so that you couldn't just switch back and forth at free will and try to make a quick buck.

That and you might see people server hoping just to sell items at one server for a higher price and buy the item they want at a cheaper price, although I bet SE would make server moving something that only happens once in a while, like once a month or more or something.

Server Hoping: I think SE would put a block on how manytimes you could move server, if they dont jumping to a higher economy server would work well for a short while until RMT exploit it. Soon the prices on all servers would level out. For example some servers with high prices/lower prices which differ from Quetz would eventually level out. For example look at:

http://www.ffxiah.com/big_graph.php - Server wide graph with all the economy differences. If server jumping was nice and easy...draw a line in the middle of the highest and lowest and thats probally what the economy will be like..

I think server hoping probally will have some restrictions, for example probally have to fill out a request form, like you do for weddings in game (not overly sure on that as I havent met anyone who has had done it) otherwise what is stopping RMT using a quiet server to farm gil then moving their Characters for delivering the gil to a server where there is more people to sell it off for a higher price. Take a look at any gilselling site and you'll will notice that the prices of gil for different servers are all different.
As no doubt that some servers will be more populated than others, brilliant for making parties, terrible for trying to make gil.

Personally I feel that they shouldnt make it able to change your main characters server, but I agree with making it easier to create a character on a sever of your choice, because if you know people in Real life who play before you buy the game they will tell you what server your on and thats what you aim for. Dont know anyone who plays FFXI then it doesnt matter what server your on.

Why the hell would someone want to move their main character to a different server? I mean, unless everyone on this server hates you or something and you have no friends, but otherwise most are already established here with many friends, linkshells, and end game linkshells/events.

This is going to suck now because I may be gone this week from mon to fri again and will miss getting into the update until I get back.

Yeah, when I first started I never really knew anything about servers and didn't have any friends that I talked to a lot who played this game too. I didn't even pay attention or really knew which server I was on right away when I started until I started filling it out on other forums your character name, jobs, server, etc. I went to look for it and realized that it shows right when you log in since I never paid attention to that from the start.

we got it pretty good compared to other severs some the other rmt are the power house of there server taking down mobs like tiamat and even AV, the hnm camping would get lot worse if they come to this server.

i don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but i would be dissappointing seeing all the servers inevitably level out to have the same economy. There wouldn't be a certain server with certain perks anymore.
