POL NEWS : Mog Bonanza ??? a must do event !

SE may be stupid, but they're going to at least pick a number where every rank is won.

You know what'd suck? Say you bought the v.belt like Darth from the rmt and you won the tier for it on the lotto...

Wouldn't it'd be great to toss your old v.belt for the new one?

RMT sell that belt or try to for pennies, 2-3mil, highest I know a guy trying to buy was like 6mil. 6 mil for a speed belt ha.

Yeah, let's give JP even more of an advantage. Good idea.

I don't understand this JP greatness mentality. The're items don't drop more often, they don't HQ more often, or any of that bullshit I keep hearing. Just because they work hard to get gear doesn't mean the game works in their favour, all sounds like jealous bullshit to me, gear isn't going to fall in your hands your gonna have to put some time into it, stop bitching about NA getting shafted with FFXI drops/gear/whatever, take a step back and think how stupid that sounds.

Like the programming is written in JP favour, please.

Anyways, RMT have this in the bag, calling it now.

It has to do with a few things, actually. Partly it was the way JP linkshells went to great lengths to stifle any NA competition in the early days on Quetz, and another, much greater, part has to do with the perceived imbalance between the way GMs handled respective complaints. Couple that with some notoriously racist JPs in the old days, and it's a lingering attitude that will probably persist until the servers shut down.

But that's neither here nor there in relation to this particular thread. It's also been discussed a half-dozen times before, so no need to go into it again.

that really doesn't explain it at all. If JP linkshells did everything they could to crush any NA competition you would think NA would hold a crudge toward them, not put them on a pedastle or claim that game mechanics work in their favour. And doesn't every LS try to stifle the competiton, regarding of country.

Short answer: If you stifle competition, you have better gear than the people you're stifling. For a lot of people that must therefor equate to superior play skill, which isn't true at all, but is a fairly common misconception. The fact that the JPs had about a year to play the game with no NA's around at all is also lost on those people.

Couple that with perceived preferential treatment by GMs, and you get the "JP Button".

As for stifling competition, of course. But very few NA shells have ever even contemplated joining forces with other NA shells in order to guarantee claims and kills on the kings.

some notoriously racist JPs in the old days

A legacy held well by everyone's favorite French-named JP, Raizondetre!

It does explain it actually. NA players haven't put them on any pedestals, and the claims that certain mechanics work in their favor (disregard lag times because JPs are physically closer to the servers) are signs of begrudged feeling...

I still don't get it. I think that's the most frustrating thing about this game. Even worse than the damn lich mission, the rampant racism - from all corners.

Let's completely forget for a second that the servers are based in Japan and that people in NA and in Europe have a 2 second lag to everything versus them.

Now let's forget that when they camp the mobs, they have that difference in lag as an advantage. The JP either have to be stupid, not paying attention, or just unlucky with the spawn position to miss it. If we had that 2 second advantage, then the tables would be turned to us having the advantage.

what do you mean rampant racism? just becausei despise all JP players and will hate them 'til my dying breath?
/sarcasm off

seriously tho, i'm not participating in this event. it takes much more OUT of players hands than it puts back in. We'd be better off electing a 'deserving' player and handing them our gil rather than throwing it away to SE's NPCs. but, thats just my opinion. good luck to those of you who buy tickets. the rank 1 winner better damn well be from quetz....lol

Oh, I'm gonna play. Even if I just get the exp scroll, that'd be fine with me. I like events. :)

The advantage doesn't exist anymore. Theres the little no claim time when something pops. JPs may see a monster a fraction of a second earlier, but that also means they are more likely to get their spell/ability stopped from the no claim thing.

Me too. It's really not that much gil lost if you do it. If you buy numbers that end with the last digits as 0-9 you're guaranteed at least one exp scroll. It doesn't favor anyone just the lucky person who picks the numbers and it's also not guaranteed that anyone will win the rank 1 prize. Good luck to those who do it.

They don't have an advantage anymore.

Commence the whining of a JP buying an item 0.5 sec before you due to AH lag.

Seriously, no. Not really from all corners. I rarely if ever see "NA only" or "EU only" or "FR Only" in a /seacom. About 65-75% of JP players I see have "JP ONLY" in theirs.

I rarely see an NA player suddenly switch gear or slap me if I check them. I do, however, see it all the time with a large cross-section of JP players, and Raizondetre is the most extreme example in that she loves to harangue a person who checks her in tells, and then across her mules when the "checker" blacklists her.

Generally, I could care less who I party with, so long as I am getting exp/lp. But while I see some animosity from some players who are not from/in Japan, I do see that most of that animosity has been harbored in response to a "JP ONLY/NA {Too weak}" attitude.

This debate has been hashed out so many times it's beyond tiresome.

Back OT: I'll probably play the game on at least two or three of my characters.

Aye, I'll fork out the limited quantity of gil for my main and 2 mules on Sylph, and I *may* get my mules on Quetz enough gil to play too, just for the hell of it. 10k isn't a lot of gil, the overall return will well exceed the amount of gil taken out of the system by the event, and it'd be funny to win 100 mil on a mule that I can't even access with my main for another 60-70 days at the earliest lol.
