Playonline said:

The goal is to win Rank 1, by up all the cheap b hides, d cloths and khroma ores that will be on the AH from Rank 5 winners, wait a couple of weeks, then put them up on the AH for double what I bought them for!

I would have loved for Rank 5 prize to be that good.. but...

So how many birthdates are being chosen as the winning numbers? :)

Just realized why the dates...this will up SE's second quarter greatly, and give a boost to the third quarter.

With everyone creating accounts or rehashing disabled content id's, that's additional revenue for may and june. The fact that the prizes cannot be picked up until July 2nd ensures that you'll pay for the additional content id's for another month as well lol.

The reason they are waiting 1 month for announcing the results, I think, is because they want to avoid people cheating and modify their marble through hacking. They will make a list of all numbers and who has them then compare. that's what I think.

If I win, I am required by Swedish law to declare my winnings, as according to them, all online currency holds RL value due to the ability to sell it online for RL money. Thus, even though someone might not have the intention of selling game money (and characters, recent addition), you still need to declare and tax them. This is true for all kinds of currency and money, be it online pocker or black jack, as well as WoW gold, FFXI Gil, etc. Even characters as they can be sold.

And no, it is not WHEN you sell them (if you do), its even if you don't have an intention to sell them. So, how much does 100 mil gil sell for currently? I'll need to know how much theoretical money the government might want me to tax.
Spoiler:
yeah, right

I'm a crook for not paying tax for my online gil. Plz don't sue me.

I actually didn't know I need to tax my game money until I read it in the newspaper a few months ago. I dropped my jaw and was about to bust out laughing. Wonder how much I owe in tax evasion >.O

edit: It has actually upset a lot of people. In reality I need to declare everything I sell on the AH, or that drops from beastmen I kill. If you play online poker, you are required to tax every hand you play, not the money you win. Thus, you can actually be required to bay $10,000 in tax, even though you didn't actually win anything in Poker.

and I'll get someone to type out the lyrics to "Trust" from Prince.

I volunteer, for a princely sum of 2 million gil.

Hubba hubba hubba, money money money, who ya gonna trust?

Judging by the brief research I just did, the typical sliding scale of the two places I looked, and a rough guesstimate of what they'd charge you...

Probably around $3,000 US. Could go higher, could go lower, but $3k seems plausible.

Pricing characters, on the other hand... I can't imagine how that would work. Too much individual variation between what a given person thinks their character is worth, relative value to the buying party, etc.

Yeah, I'm clueless. They got upset after an article in the newspaper about people selling WoW characters and gold, and how much potential money is in it, that they decided to include this in to declaration. This was a few weeks after the talk of people avoiding to pay tax on online poker by playing on foreign websites.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Well, our politicians are rather stupid. It's right up there with "Let's sell everything so that our students need to take a $1.500.000 loan to be able to move out, because we need to repay our debts" and "If a woman gets raped, it is her own fault for being outside and not in the kitchen making sammiches"

edit: This is the country that's currently in an uproar because a 50-year old man shot and killed a 15-year old kid at point-blank with a shotgun because he and his friends had been terrorizing the family for the past 3 years, destroyed the family's property, tried to drag out his wife from the car to beat her up on the way home from the store, prank called them on a daily basis by making death threats, bully his children and beat up his 20-year old handicapped son, and eventually call them up and say "I'm on my way over with some friends, tell your son to come out or we'll kill you all". Personally I think freeing the 50-year old man from all charges was the right thing to do, but apparently I'm almost the only one. The rest of Sweden seem to be of the opinion that freeing him is sending the message that murder is allowed.

Dam right they should free him, that 15 year old messed up kid deserved that. When that 15 year old got older he'd properly do nothing good with his life anyway.

The parents cried in the news and said "Its horrible! According to them Marcus's life is worth NOTHING!"

Well, Mrs. Perhaps you should actually have TAUGHT your son something instead of letting him run around and do whatever he want all day. Parenting can go long ways.

I'm with you on that they should free the 50-yr old. That kid got what was coming to him, IMO.

Police doesnt do anything there about the 15 year old hmmm... remind me of GM in FFXI

I quickpicked 29 of my marbles. I got a marble reading 1 on one of my mules.

bingo!
haha
Because you'd have to pay for May, June and beginning of July, and even if not you still have to pay at least 2 months.

im honestly very impressed, SE has essentially used an intangible item such as "gil" or "items" in order to turn it into real value in dollars. This is pretty much the closest thing they could do besides selling FFXI Gil directly from their website lol.

Next maybe they'll make a "lucky character" contest:
"Hurry adventurers and make new characters as soon as possible! There is a new adventurer draw that is happening and you could be the one to win kupo!"

lol

You know Uzor, technically the gil isn't yours to begin with, seeing as how we don't legally own our character(s), or the items on them. So, therefore you can't be taxed on something you don't legally have rights to, or am I mistaken? D:
