I hate POL....it does nothing but causes problems and the fact you can't turn off the stupid music drives me bonkers.
 
PoL has successfully stopped people from creating "private" servers which would rob the community of player count. That could eventually lead to server merges, and nobody wants that. Quetz > All

In Everquest, you double-clicked, typed in your password, and you were brought to your character selection screen. In Everquest II, World of Warcraft, Hell ... even the Korean-loved "halfway" MMOs like Ragnarok Online are smart enough to realize that adding 12 unnecessary steps, and two or three more minutes, to something as simple as a login process is not a good idea.

Anyone who chalks complaints up to "l0lz slow PC" simply doesn't have anything else to compare FFXI to. I'm sorry, but it's that simple. It may be a blanket statement, but for 9/10 of you, I'd wager it's accurate.




Once again, Square-Enix had to make itself (in many ways) the weirdest damn MMO in existence. Playonline sucks.

No, Ive played several other MMO's. WoW, RO, DDO, a couple other generic korean MMO's, GW, and maybe missing something.

I really dont see any reason why PoL is such a hassle for anyone. It takes a whole minute just to get through, so really its just these minor complaints and knit picking about people being unsatisfied and things not being their way

What pisses me off is when I get d/c'd doing something important then the extra minute feels like an hour.

This is what I can agree with. Id find it to be much more suitable for dc's to send you to the character select screen with a little 'log on' button there.
 
lol i once DCed and had to restart my computer... average restart time 2 mins, and then add another 2 mins to log into the game. my pt replaced my level 18 rdm :(

How many times do you think you have logged into the game?

Say I logged on once per day since I started playing.
It is probably more since I log off/on a few times every now and then in the same day.
I started playing roughly 1200 days ago.
So say 1200 logins.
1 minute each.
That's 20 meaningless hours.
And counting all the extra time from a DC and whatnot... especially when internet actually dies.
Takes what, 5 minutes for POL to understand there is no connection, just quit already.


Although, I'm not complaining, all I'm saying is "många bäckar små blir en stor å".
Google that shit, I dont know a similiar saying in english atm lol.
 
Yeah, but you spend many more meaningless hours doing other things... Adding time up like that doesnt really serve any purpose, or prove any point... You probably have more hours a year of staring off into space doing and thinking about nothing than you do of logging into ffxi

Maybe it doesn't when you don't wanna (sorry, "want to", I was in a rush) admit you might be half wrong.
But to all us people who can add 1 and 1, it does proove a point.

And yes, I have spent alot of meaningless hours in my days.
One thing is for certain though, staring into the sky or thinking about nothing is not one of those things...

If you played FFXI, WoW, EQ, FFSuperSecretNextGenMMO and a few other mmorpgs, and playonline managed the CC info for all of them, provided a single username & password login, managed all your friends from all the games and sucked your cock when you were horny you wouldn't be complaining about it.

no, but one thing is really beyond me... How can you compare logging into ffxi to murdering, robbing or abducting...?

And no, why would you even want to change my opinion anyway? Lol, its not like any of our opinions on POL viewer matter anyway. There isnt some petition to get it out of the way, no one is looking for names... Its just opinion on who thinks its a waste and who doesnt. I am part of the group that thinks its not a waste, and spending 1 minute to log into a game is no problem.

But then again, Im also a person that has an 11 hour school day, and dont see a problem with that. Maybe Im just more tolerant than the masses.

I generalized your opinion. I did not compare it to anything.

Patience has nothing to do with it.
I doubt any of us who isn't quite satisfied with not having an option to just launch FFXI right away sit and go hyper waiting to get through pol.
We're just asking ourselves why we have to click all these buttons every time.
I think POL is a decently useful program in itself, but would it be so hard to give us a way to start FFXI when we dont have anything we need to do in POL?
