Cops, hrmph. About two months ago I was stopped by a cop. I had an issue with my license plate(my fault). Apparently though, you're not allowed to just run random license plate checks, at least in Connecticut. You have to have a reason beforehand. What he gave me was obstruction of view, citing my air freshener(dinky little Christmas tree). The plate was fixed(after he ordered a tow for me costing me $90 when I was a mile away from home, he also threatened me with it being towed to the police station) - and that was dropped, but I still had to go to court and end up paying $35 over the obstruction of view. While I was waiting for the tow, plenty of people performed dangerous/illegal maneuvers as they passed me and the cop car. Not to mention, the whole time I wasn't even speeding.
When I was younger, I used to speed a lot, and I got plenty of tickets for it. That's on me, I realize it's my mistake. I wasn't following the rules, I was being stupid, I made the roads less dangerous - and if everyone had been driving like me, it wouldn't have been great. But running random plates and then cooking up a reason to pull someone over is something different entirely.
