if you do it that often then i don't know what to call it besides OCD. i simply find the entire practice itself to be quite pointless. you you derail a thread to point out my mistaken use of a homonym for......what? I personally consider pet-peves to be simple/mild forms of OCD. you see something it triggers an involuntary reaction. Some can control their pet-peves enough to not react to them after the initial impulse, others, obviously, cannot.

Correcting people on a forum when you know they clearly won't change their original post to correct the problem wasn't funny in 2001 and isn't funny in 2010.

If I get corrected on this post I have the excuse of having cocktails fed to me all day long.

It's really not supposed to be a funny matter anyway. I correct people in real life all the time so they can speak right and not go around sounding like a idiot. Personally, I like when people do it to me so I know not to make that mistake again. I want to do it here as well, but I know that people won't change anyway. If they want to type like that, then I just let them because I kind of don't care. However, I'm not going to let my friends and family go around sounding stupid because I know quite a few people who talk like they text. Most of the time they like for me to correct them anyway.

trust me; i'm not calling Zaltana stupid (despite my previous comment about selective stupidity - for that I apologize). He's far from it.

I correct grammar because of the same reasons JP stated. I would rather hear (and read) people speaking and writing with a modicum of skill, rather than sounding even remotely uneducated. Why? Because I would expect the person to do the same for me.

Yeah I don't think the people who type like that are particularly stupid. But like I said, I'll be damned if anyone I hang out with speaks like that in real life. Do it all you want on the internet, but don't take it into actual situations where you'll be laughed at.

make sure there's someone there to video tape it so that people can post from their parents basement that the cop went overboard and I shouldn't have been punched.
