Feedback Possible forum mergers

After the April Fools joke that happened a few days ago, quite a few users came forward and offered suggestions (while I'm not sure if it was because they were angry and wanted other people's forums to be moved or merged) and I just wanted to bring them up here and see what people thought.


  • Anime section merge with Multimedia Items and have a prefix for Anime. Another option for this could be a subforum of Anime section under Multimedia items, but it does seem kind of odd to have those two sections seperate

  • Crafters corners merge with General FFXI discussion since there's not much in there anymore. WTC (Willing to craft) could be put in the Auctionhouse as a function there instead.

  • Gamers section possibly reduced to have console specific as subforums instead.

Thoughts? If there's enough response I'll toss up a poll and we'll go from there.

Do that, and merge the gaming sections.
 
I'm not too keen on the idea of meshing the gaming forums together. There's a lot of info that's for ps3 or wii or 360 only and I'd really like them to be spaced out between those specific forums. At the very least I could put them as subforums of the general gaming forums if enough of the gamer people want it we could do that. lol
 
What you suggest is pretty accurate. It should fit.
 
I say do it. Leave the gaming forums alone I think though.
 
ehh i think general FFXI discussion and auction house is pretty bad. Maybe make it a subforum because things may get a bit cluttered if you mashed them together. I like the idea of subforums (except for gaming) more than just raw mergers for an organizational and aesthetic point. It would look better and have an easier flow than subtags. Personally if I played, and were looking for a craft I'd get annoyed at how fast my post would be moved down from the general discussion topics.

I was talking about if it were merged with general discussion (the actual forum not the category section). WTC as a subtag in auction could work as I doubt auction gets a whole lot of traffic. I did fail reading about the auctionhouse, but my point still stands that I like subforums better. :p

What's "it"? Crafters corner or Auctionhouse? Because Auctionhouse would be staying, not being merged.
 
This is just my opinion on how I feel things should be merged/deleted:

Crafter's Corner:

This I feel should be merged into General Discussion or Auction House (with subforums) or be deleted as a whole and people can just post Crafting related stuff into General Discussion.

Anime:

Definitely merged into Multimedia, no questions asked.

Gaming:

I wouldn't mind a one gaming forum with sub-forums for each of them. Even going to the extreme of making just a Gaming forum and using pre-fixes.

Everything else I don't think needs to really be touched. You could always leave the forums alone, but if you want to make less stuff while we get ready for FFXIV, then this is how I'd want it.

Let's try not to bring too much into this post, slow and steady ya know? Don't need tooooooo many changes to just bust out. But keep those opinions coming on the Crafters Corner/Anime Section/Gaming section!
 
everythign that is there would be ok, except for the gamers corner. I like seeing nintendo updates instead of having to sift through all the other gamers corners. Along with my Wii and DS information I'd like to keep that seperate at the very least.

as per the anime merge. as long as there is a prefix "Anime" i'd be all for it.
 
Didn't we do the condensed gaming forum once upon a time, and everyone HATED it?
 
I think the gaming forums should stay the way they are right now. Its nice and convenient.
 
I'm indifferent to the gaming forums being merged, it's not hard to find the thread for the game you are interested in anyway. Most games aren't exclusive.

As far as Anime and Multimedia are concerned, they're both very active forums. Some of the most active on the board. Merging them isn't exactly a bad idea, but they should retain their own titles. Subforuming one would essentially kill it off to the masses, and that's not a good thing.

Merging them and changing the title to something like "Anime/Entertainment" or "Anime/Multimedia" would work.

Hell, just "Entertainment". You could just specify it's for anime in the subtext.

How long's it been since CC was used? Extensively? Not since I played last, I'm pretty sure. No problems there.

I second Tymon and think the gaming forums should remain in their current structure. It'll end up a big ol' mess that eventually will probably be changed back. It's not broke, don't try fixin' it =)
 
I'll be making a new post with ideas today or tomorrow!
