Is it normal for parties to ask a mage to join them, wander out into dangerous (for the mage) territory and then disband, thus stranding the mage and making it difficult to get to safety without dying? That's happened to me two or three times.

Learning from my experience, I'm going to hold off on the parties for another level or two and avoid going into areas I can't survive on my own... but is that normal?

Yeah wel you should just take distance from enemies so you wont get attacked.
Or if someone goes to the same way you're going just ask if you can tag along till then.
By the way Mages are on high demand you'll definalty get asked alot. =D
Mainly, yes it is normal if i understood correctly

Yeah that happens sometimes because people are anxious to leave. At higher levels mages get the upper hand with spells like Warp, Sneak, Invis, Deodorize which makes them undetectable.

Scroll of Warp is your freind ^^ I always have one on me when leveling lower levels for cases just like this.

Plus, walking sucks.

Plus plus, some of the best XP places are the hardest to get to spots.

ok sometimes i got aggrot but i was to fast to be hit and for backup just incase i almost die; Benediction is my best friend. XD

Being rank 5 helped me with this over the weekend. I was partying in the dunes with my static group (our first time together..started at level 10 and ended the night at level 12) One of our members has a high level whm job and teleported us to the Crag of Dem. We entered the dunes and partied somewhat near the zone. At the end of the evening I realized I'd forgotten to grab a scroll of instant warp. We all want to keep our xp close so that we level together so dying would mean me having to play catch up. I needed to get back to Sandy to check my gardening and was about to start out across the dunes to LaThiene....thinking how the hell am I gonna make it through the tunnel without agroing bats or gobs..lol Then one of guys in my party suggests that I head to bastok instead since it's safer..didn't even occur to me that I could go there and catch the airship back...lol

...Wait, which tunnel you say?

If it's the tunnel that leads to a crag area, that'd be the southern path one, which leads to Konscratch Highlands, thus to Bastok. The path to La Theine Plateau and San d'Oria is nothing but sky above the head. So I don't see how you could have had trouble getting back to Sandy from the Dunes...

...Unless I'm missing something here?

...Oh! Near the Konscratch zone! And me who was thinking the Selbina one. Wow, please excuse this lil' noob for not reading twice before posting! :P

The Tunnel IN the dunes nearest the Konschtat zone. Most often there are only lizards in there when I pass through as well. But there are occasionally bats and once in a while gobs. Normally I would just go for it but since we are working to stay close with xp I didn't want to chance it. Besides I'd died once earlier already so had some catch up to do as it was.
