some time in dec, cleo.

And dejan i was 30 when "we" pted and that was earlier this week, im not 30 anymore. secondly those examples are things ppl said to me so i have had hard times and i wouldnt bring up that time we "pt"ed if i were you cause last time i checked no one in the pt liked you and you kept pulling with mages with no mp and got 1 member killed 3 times. this post is for the dragoons to just sign, not for you to come in and criticize for a post.

Please brother, don't get me started.

First of all i said 30'ish, not 30 read back. Like that's a bigass acomplishment...

Really i don't feel like this becoming a flame. If you wanna flame me, feel free to in the flame board. This is just my opinion, i think i'm entitled to that. You can go ahead and criticize as much as you like, i'm sure of what i do and my role in parties. Btw, i wasn't the only one pulling.

I got no one killed, that DRK got killed twice because of his hate (soul eater, berserk, etc...).

I just stated my opinions. IMO it's not like the DRG's before this patch are teh uber ultimate gamers that lvled a job that was MUCH worse than it'll be now. What a hastle huh? Very subtile difference, if at all.

Not that I endorse this elitism... *cough*

DRG75

D-Lvl'd to 73, yes, 73. Back to 74, then retired.

Spent 3 weeks lfg one time. Thanks to Meridith and Perfectangel for actually accepting DRG invites. Oh, Atrbiohazzard would too, but she was scary. 15 hour enduro pty's....uggggh.

drg42, 41->42 entirely while lfg in CN
drg is my first in-game love <3

But even with the update I won't be going back.
All mage now =P

- .- I always wanted to be a dragoon, but never came around to it. Once i get many other jobs to 60-75 i'll do dragoon~ Hopefully, the "Bandwagon" of Bluemages and Dragoons will be over.

I have yet to even unlock dragoon. Talk about the hardships of leveling dragoon!

I don't think I'll ever lvl dragoon...I'm not really up for another melee job with lots of seeking time >_>

lol Dejan. Trust me, you aren't the first person to use those exact words "Get off your ass and get 75" lol I would love to have you as the bard when I hit. To be honest, there are many people who I would want to be in my party when I leveled, merely for the fact that there have been many people who have stuck by my side through the hard times and the good times of leveling Dragoon. One of these days I will organize a party to go as long as it takes on a Monday night or something like that to get as much XP as possible and hopefully get me 75. I've had a few offers already because they want to see me hit 75 as Dragoon.

Now onto this whole deal about 'New Dragoon' as opposed to the old form which I myself come from. This thread to me is pointless. I don't care whether you came from pre-Penta Thrust nerf, present day Dragoon, or future Dragoon. If there is one thing that seperates the Dragoon job from all other jobs is the hidden honor code that lies behind it all. The job itself is based on a bond between us and our wyverns, but it goes beyond that. Dragoons stick together more than any other job and are there through the good and the bad times. I don't know how many times Cerescole, Eleibfrid, and Kirayamoto all helped me through these times. They were the ones I looked up to as an aspiring Dragoon. There is just a different way in which we operate, and it seems to lie more upon a brotherhood or tradition and honor, more than just wearing the same Purple armour.

Anyways, that was sort of a turn off of the point I was trying to make. New or Old Dragoon ... You are a Dragoon. End of story.

(Just don't suck and make us all look bad =P )

Very well said.

Nothing more to add... Except this:

Dejan - Drg8/4war.

ps: Lani, if i'm not in you're "hit75 lvl pt" i'm gonna pwn ur ass.

Ever since I've played the sole perpose was to be a DRG. Ever since I started all I caught was shit from my friends and people I met through playing, some because they are really hatefull of them for dum reasons and some because they think it's the thing to do and others simply to piss me off(those are my true friends, thanks Trog you son of a bitch).

I got DRG to 46 but since its on my cuzin's account and I'm gonna be purchasing my own soon I'll have to start all over :(, thats ok with me though I look forward to begining anew with a crapload of gil and a new type of DRG.

I'll be the only one here who has leveld a DRG from 1 to a high level pre- and post-update!

I hope you can be Dejan. I was hoping you could come as bard. I haven't talked to Saevel in a while, so I have no clue what level his Paladin is, but it would be a pleasure to have both of you there. I don't think he made it to that level though, so I would have to find another tank. If I had my choice of party, I would take you as BRD, Reishu as RDM, Tyrath as DRK, Hmkiroko as BLM, and I'm not sure about tank, but Eulore would be a good choice as Paladin, or Vang as Ninja lol He doesn't like us Dragoon though ^^;

I'll see what I can get cooking. I'm pretty sure Rei and Eul would help me out. Possibly Tyr if we fit it in his schedule. Hmk maybe. And me, definitely lol

DISCLAIME: lol I know there are many other people who I would want to party with, but these are some of the people who have basically been around for a long time and helped me with Dragoon, whether it be moral support or getting a needed item. Hell, Tyrath even helped me unlock the Dragoon job back in the day, August of 2004 if I remember correctly. Anyways, no one take offense ... If I could have you all in my party, I would ... but I can't ; ;

I'd be 75 drg/war by now if I was online ; ;
Stupid bills to pay, lost internet connection 2 months ago as drg 61, but I have a full static waiting for me to get back online, Huzzah!

Only one thing identifies a "Real" dragoon, the respect you give your brother Drg's and the dignity you maintain when others get on your case about being one.

42 SAM/WAR?THF...will always be better than DRG. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. But I will be unlocking DRG because my brother wants to be a DRG but he can't kill the Wyvern by himself so I figure that I'll unlock it so atlease I get something out of fighting it. Maybe one day I'll try DRG/SAM cause back in the day they used to be pimp...too bad. That and I can level my polearm skill for SAM and not have people sending me tells like this..."If you want to use a (Polearm) play (Dragoon), (Great Axe)(Do you need it?)" I get that one on my WAR every once in awhile. Makes me laugh. Besides DRG AF looks gay, you have to play that job to 75 to get the really pimp gear.

And now that its going to be a more powerful job, the people that ARE skilled with dragoon and care the most about it will be harder to seperate from the average ones.
It's not gonna be more powerful til end game, when you can actually have your bird out against those AoE mobs. Having a powerful attack every 2 hours does not make a job that much more powerful. Like the update said, it gives them some desirability for BC and NM fights.

What exactly makes a skilled drg, in an exp party? Besides skillchaining, which every melee job does, and pulling, which is rarely a drg's job, where is the skill in auto-attack? Everyone talks about skill required to play melee jobs, I just don't see it.

While I feel this isn't the right place for your post. I am going to reply.

What he means simply, is that there is skill involved. Skill isn't just about hitting auto attack. It's about timing your jumps. Controlling your hate. You have to make sure you're ready for the SATA from the THF so the tank doesn't lose hate.

It's about choosing the right gear, yes even based on race. If I'm a Mithran I could probably afford to lose some ACC gear for attack or even STR for WS because they have a higher base Dex. If I'm an elvaan I might roll more Dex + and ACC + since they have a naturaully low Dex.

Skill involves picking food, gear, and corresponding those to work properly. If you can't afford the best gear you can buy the right food, if you have the -best- gear you can use a different food from the guy lacking in ACC or whatever.

Skill involves deciding which Subjob brings to a party. Be it /THF for SATA Wheeling Thrust, or perhaps you take /WAR for the DoT Capabilities, or even /SAM so you could spit out two SC's per fight if it takes that.

And, if Melee requires no skill, then how can distasteful bad melee exist?

If it requires no skill wouldn't everyone be pretty much the same?

How much skill does it take to hit alt 4 or whatever and cast Blizzard III for an MB?

How much skill does it take to spam your enfeebles all lines up on your macro pallet?

Is pressing Provoke and tapping some Hate spells that hard?

Each position and job in the game requires skill.

I'm not saying they require no skill, I'm just saying that some people like to believe that melee jobs are 90% skill. The jobs are more like 20% skill, 50% gear, and 30% not going afk and paying attention.

I remember people saying things along the lines of "now ranger takes skill to play" after the rng nerf. I found that funny, as the only extra skill needed was finding optimum range, which isn't very hard at all.

There is skill, but what is the part of the crappy melee that makes them so crappy? The fact that they can't figure out a SC, or seem to be afk the whole fight? The fact that they don't use food, or use food that is wrong for the situation? The fact that they have terrible gear? 95% of the time it's one of those 3, and the other 5% they are fighting mobs that are too high level for them or the wrong type for them, such as piercing weapon on bones.

My point is that the amount of skill required to play a job good isn't that much, and with the most skill possible you will only be slightly better than the job playing that is playing it just good. This is true for all melee jobs. The really good people won't stand out very much at all above those that are ok at the job.

In the end, timing your jumps and watching your hate gets your party what, an extra 5% exp on average? Being great will rarely get you noticed, the only people that jump out are the ones terrible at their job.
